Texans @ Ravens Playoffs

1,006 posts in this topic

We have to protect Flacco in this game. The Texans have a lot of good pass rushers who can get Joe flustered. They showed it against the Bengals and Dalton threw INT's. We also can't get behind early and try to catch up. If we do we can't abandon the run and we have to be patient.

Sorry don't mean to burst your bubble but it ain't week 6 its the playoffs. Our defense wasn't playing well in week 6 we are playing the best d we have played all year. So no I'm not worried at all by your offense but very worried about your d.
Thanks for reminding us, we've only been there 4 years in a row. Pretty sure our team knows how to step up in the post season. I don't think the Texans are going to be a cake walk but I'm not shaking in fear either.

Stop foster, get Suggs going early, healthy diet of rice, protect the ball... I'm sayin Ravens 24, Texans 13

I don't think either team should be boasting too much. Ravens were perfect at home and the Texans D looks great and ready to play.

If fumble Joe Flacco can't escape pressure or even be aware, this will be a long day. Also, Ravens O-line NEEDS to play one of their good games on Sunday. I believe the Ravens have the talent to pull this game out but we, as Ravens fans and even the team, should not be expecting an easy win. This will be a hard fought game and the crowd will be into it.

Personally, I believe our offense will show up and our D will naturally be zoned in and feeding off of the crowd. LET'S JUST GET IT DONE!

After a shaky start to the game the Texans eventually get they're game together in the 3rd and 4th. I thought they played some sweet moves with RB 23 Arian Foster looking strong and fast. I could also see QB 13 TJ Yates confidence grow as the Game went on.
DE 99 JJ Watt looks like he could be an emerging danger with some fine individual effort.
The team and fans are buzzing, you can see that if you read the boards and look at some of the post match Interviews.
I think the fan and team confidence will make for a great game on the 15th.

Now after saying all this how do i think they will fair against the Ravens at home on the 15th?

All I can say is " Texans, bring plenty of body bags, that little fire fight you had with the Bengals is nothing compared to the all out war you gona get at the M&T Bank Stadium ".

You should be worried about it. I guarantee you Gary Kubiak is having an ulcer right now watching Torrey Smith and Ray Rice on film.

It ain't week six but it's still M&T Bank Stadium.

Texan's fans. I know you are reading this, and because I peeped your boards and saw a post with links to here.
Good job beating the Bengals. Enjoy the first ever playoff win. The ride ends next week though. Sorry, but it had to be said. There is no way in HELL that you are bringing some 3rd string rookie QB to our house against this defense and walking away with a win. I've heard a lot of talk about how you think Flacco can't beat you..well he already did...when you had Schaub. How is TJ Yates going to play against this D?
I'm not saying that this Ravens team doesn't have it's flaws. They are well documented here. I'm just saying that with a week's rest, at home, with a far better quarterback and yes a better defense that the Ravens will win this game 30-13

The key to keeping Joe upright wont be solely on how the O-line fair alone but how Cam mixes up the play calls b/c I don't care if you have an All Pro O-line, if you just have your QB consistently taking 7 step drops on any team with a good pass rush like the Texans as well as us, your QB will get put on his butt quite a bit. Cam has to scheme and I'm talking about screens, draws, pass in running sets, run in passing sets, chip block with the TE's and the RB's who will be doing a delay release into the flats, the whole 9.

Texans have never beaten the Ravens in their history.

Hello guys. Texans fan here. I just wanted to hear your thoughts on the game on Sunday.

We are coming off a blowout win against a slightly above average team. We held them to 10 points Yates got a few critical third down completions and Foster tore them up. I know they aren't even close to your defense but I think your offense is easier for us to defend against then theirs because our strength is stopping the run and your whole offense is an inconsistent QB and and a very good RB which plays right into our hands. So I'm not worried about your offense in a traditional drive, what I am worried about is your defense against Yates. Because if you can shut down Foster than Yates will have to play a great game against that monster Ed Reed.

Hey, what's up doc? Sorry, had to say it.

If I were you, I wouldn't take a lot away from yesterday's game. A lot of teams have a tough time the week after playing the Ravens, and the kittys showed some wear and tear. If you think our O will be easier to defend, you may be disappointed. With a weeks rest, our line will be fresh and healthy and we will be getting Q back. I look for an excellent game from Joe and Co..

And by the way, I'd take our "inconsistent" QB over anyone who has ever been on the texans roster.

Good luck!

Let's not get too cocky, y'all.

Sure, the Ravens won the first meeting rather handily. And sure, the Texans are inexperienced when it comes to the playoffs. But haven't we learned anything from the four unexpected losses this season?

Take no opponent for granted. I don't care who it is. This is the playoffs. As fans, it is our duty to root for our team but we also shouldn't plant the seeds into their heads that this'll be an easy game.

The Texans are a good team. We just have to hope this isn't the case on Sunday.

Well said. They think we're disrespecting them. I don't think anyone is disrespecting them here, nor have I seen anyone show them the least bit of disrespect. On the contrary, I think we're taking them quite seriously and are aware of who they have that can make plays. We know our weaknesses and we're quite aware and respectful of the successes they've had, in spite of adversity.

I just think that they can't neutralize Ray Rice, having Boldin, Smith, and Evans all healthy as well as Pitta will be too much, Ray will burn them on the bubble screen if they get too aggressive with their pass rush, and above all, Yates is going to have an extraordinarily rough day. The Bungals dropped how many picks and blew how many coverages? That ain't happening here. Andre Johnson will not be throwing Lardarius off with the double move like "Make It Rain" Pacman Jones. Yates doesn't have the experience yet to read a D like he'll have to with us. While impressive for a rookie and especially one with his story, he's going to wind up on his back a LOT. He's going to throw balls that he thinks are open only to find out he got baited into something by the safety. I seriously would consider getting Delhomme some snaps, simply because they DO have offensive weapons and he is far more adept and experienced in reading a D. This is not a defense for the novice.

Houston fans are definitely riding a 'high' right now. Congrats on winning your first playoff game against a team that dies in big games. This will be a tough game, and anybody can win.

But here are some factors the Texans need to worry about.

1) That noise that affected the Bengals on Saturday is the same noise they'll be competing against on Sunday.
2) Emotional wins rarely carry over to the next week. Big win for their franchise, but that emotion could be trouble.
3) Weather. The temperature will be in the 30s next Sunday. I know the Ravens are designed to play January football. But are the Texans? Ball gets a little bit heavier, slicker.
4) They will also be playing in one of the best home field advantages in the league. 8-0 this year. Among the top the past decade.

Talk about Hypocritical! The Texans message board has a thread all about our message board. What I find amusing is they some of the things they criticize us about are the same things I see from their fans on their message board.

http://boards.housto...ead.php?t=28998

Ofcourse their is a wide array of Ravens fans from cocky to cautious to pessimistic. But the same can be applied to any team, including the Texans.

LOL the one guy said 35-3? What a joke!

And yes, Dre without Schaub is not as scary as Schaub without Dre. Andre is great, but T.J. Yates is overrated. Mark my words, he will fail tremendously next week.

I like the Texans. A lot. I love Andre Johnson (favorite non-Raven). But Yates is going to have a tough time. Its on the road in a hostile environment in a big game. Its a lot of pressure. He'll be dealing with more noise than ever before. Plus unlike the Bengals. The Ravens are very good at confusing the QB.

But ofcourse if Houston O-Line holds up (which they very well could). And Yates has time, he should be able to make a ton of plays.

Last time we had Danny Gorrer covering Derrick Mason. I think we'll be alright with Webb on Johnson.
