Should we try to hire McDaniels?

18 posts in this topic

I know he is crazy, but I think Flacco would do well in his system. Especially with Rice, Boldin and all the other talent on the offense. He wouldn't hold him back like Cam Cameron. I think we would have the best coaching staff with Pagano being a great cordinator, Harbaugh being one of the better coaches in the league, and the other coaches being really good. Fire Cam, get McDainels. Do you think we could get him? The Pats are in pursuit to get him. I think we should try to get him at least.

Truthfully I'd love it. This is why. I maintain that Cam is at heart a round holes kind of guy. He has his system and fits players into it, instead of playing to the strengths of his players. Which is why even last year he had slow guys like Houshmanzadeh running 15 yard routes all of the time. McDaniels seems to have a knack for recognizing players' strengths and utilizing them. Not to mention he's done a great job with most of the quarterbacks he's coached. This past year in St. Louis is an anomaly, I think, caused by the fact that there really isn't any talent at all on that time besides Stephen Jackson, and either Sam Bradford is hurt or his receivers are. McDaniels might be an egomaniac, but he can coach an offense, and when you don't give him all the power he's proven to be brilliant.

Mccdainels must be McDaniels twin :P

Patriots are expected to sign him. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/07/josh-mcdaniels-expected-to-join-patriots-staff-immediately/

Don't like him as a HC but he has a heck of an offensive mind. He'd be great here but I imagine he'll be more than happy to go coach with BB again in New England. I still like the idea to get Norv, if he's available.

McDaniels has already committed to NE. Actually, he will be joining the Pats immediately, which I did not know that was even allowed!

Here's the report:

They say the Pats want him now is because the Rams faced the Packers, Ravens, 49ers, Bengals, Steelers, Giants, and Saints this year. Leave it up to Billy B. to pull a stunt like this!

Too late, the Patriots have already got him so we could be seeing Josh in the AFC Title game.

Smart move. That's BB for you, and quite honestly I'm kinda hoping Hue Jackson or Jim Zorn become available so we can pull the same exact stunt and bring in Hue or Jim for our playoff run.

We should have done it last year but Harbs persuaded Bisciotti to keep Cam around. The biggest issue I think we'd have faced with him is that he's very pass heavy and we know that the key for us to win is to feed Rice the ball.

Cam speaks highly of Joe, but he just doesn't seem to trust him. But I see the problem as being he doesn't trust anyone. We need to let the Raves offense do what they do best. Who can we bring in here and make our guys elite stars of the NFL?

Exactly. Which is why both Zorn and Saunders got the axe last year after they helped Joe to his best season as a pro. I think, for one, if somehow we could get a great quarterback coach (maybe Zorn returns?) back to coach Joe, that would be a big help for Joe specifically.
