I still dont see the draw of Metallica. The vocals are too midrange. Not high, not low, just boring.

i like it more for the fast paced drums and guitars. James doesent really know how to sing he just says them. I personally don't mind.
Everyone has their tastes.

Hmmm. Yeah I suppose thats alright, but vocals are the most important part of a band for me, so its hard to listen if the vocals suck.

Most of their guitar parts are fast paced, especially back in the 80's (when they were good). :P

Or dead. Its amazing how many of those guys are still alive. Mick Jagger looks like death incarnate.

Anyway, I just got a pair of Dokken albums and a pair of Ratt albums, and despite their never achieving the massive mainstream following like GNR and the Crue, they are pretty freaking awesome. I have to say, Dokken is a pretty sweet last name.

Sadly once all these classic 80's bands are dead or retired what in gods name will i listen too. I am always searching for new heavy metal type bands. I have found Mastodon and Rammstein.
I always feel my favorite band Iron Maiden will never be gone. Sadly they will :(

Dokken is your favoirte glam metal? The Crue is better, though I am really enjoying dokken. I hadnt even heard of them until a few days ago, but I am enjoying their work. Its a shame they never quite hit it big like some others. Being a diehard Crue fan, I was excited when I got my first three Poison cds yesterday, as I had heard they were similar. I must admit, I was dissapointed. Bret Michaels is nothing vocally compared to Vince Neil.

They do have sweet vocals, and if you compare it to Vince's earlier work like Too Fast For Love, before he developed range and talent, I can see it, but he is pretty amazing towards the late 80's. Besides, Tommy, Vince and Nikki look better in glam (Mick looks like a vampire, and considering he is 11 years older than all of them, its understandable.)

Overall i like the new wave of British heavy metal bands the most. The sound they have is very medival and yet rough sounding. Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and others all have a similar sound. I seem to enjoy that the most.

I didnt know Dokken was British. Interesting. Ugh. I cannot stand Ozzy's voice, and something about Judas Priest just creeps me out......Never actually heard an Iron Maiden song. The Classic Rock station WindFM here in Gainesville doesnt play a lot of darker metal.

oh no Dokken is american lol. I just like them more lol. Judas Priest and Black Sabbath created the first metal scene. Ozzy is okay i prefer their music part more. Well Judas Priest is just idk lol. I like them. I saw them live a couple months ago up here with Black Label Society. Some of their songs are funny. lol Judas Priest has a song called "turbo lover" which is just hilarious. the newer stuff from them is more cinematic. Iron Maiden has become re popular since 2000. They make music about stories or books. If your gonna listen to a Iron Maiden album listen to "Piece of Mind" or "Powerslave". "The Number of the Beast" was probably their breakout album. The vocals are operatic and the music is like a horse gallop. Iron Maiden has kept with their style and hasent changed musically through out their career like some bands do.

Ok. So tell me then more about the vocals for Iron Maiden. I like the higher pitched guy voices, and I cannot stand female voices. Vocals make or break a band for me. Thats why even though I am a metal-head, I love Journey. Steve Perry, imo, is the greatest vocalist of all time. Also, I always subconsciously avoided Iron Maiden because the name, being derived from the medieval torture device that was a poster child for the cruelty of humanity, was always a little creepy seeming to me, and so I stayed away from them.

Also Mr. Stover no band is as creepy as the German Industrial metal band Rammstein.
They are messed up but their music is very new and intersting. The lyrics(are in German) mean some weird things sometimes. They are becoming very popular in the United States.
Here is a creepy picture from them. Beware when you look up pictures of Rammstein. It could be inappropriate for young lads.
