Super Bowl Prediction: Ravens Vs Saints

35 posts in this topic

So, I have been telling anyone who'll listen that this year's Super Bowl will be the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints.

Just came across this article on nfl.com -> http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d825bb0e6/article/statistics-show-strengths-weaknesses-of-playoff-teams?module=HP11_cp

The article presents a chart; the chart is team rankings in ten important categories. And guess what? The Ravens blow everyone out of the water, ranking 15 points ahead of #2 Texans, and over 100 points ahead of the Broncos.

Now, all this really means is something that we already knew -- we are the most well rounded team in the NFL, capable of beating anyone in any manner necessary.

According to the rankings, the Ravens and Saints are the most likely SB matchup...nice to have something tangible to put behind the opinion!

Agreed. This is also my superbowl prediction. NE will get beat to our pulp by our run game and defense. NO will beat Green Bay. I guarantee it. If we can get by Pittsburgh I like our chances. But, one game at a time, we don't even know who we're playing next.

Ironically enough, this was also my Super Bowl prediction a couple years ago. I got it half right ... the wrong half.

BTW, I just saw a thread by Twistidfunk linking to the same article ... my apologies, not trying to step on any toes!

The Saints are really the most balanced team in the NFL by far. They have a fantastic passing game, but unlike most other pass first offenses, their run game is a challenge to stop. They are a better offense than the Packers in my opinion.

I thought it would be ravens vs pack up until around week 13ish. Now I think saints, but it could go either way. Rodgers & Brees are crazy good

I assume you mean most balanced offense, not team? Their defense is suspect.

Yes. Their defense gives them the edge over the Pack though, in my opinion.

As song as we have a solid offensive game plan (which might be asking too much), I think we have a good chance against anyone. Could you imagine the ratings that two conference championship games would get between the Packers and Saints and the Steelers and Ravens?

honestly the video to see Sap refer to our D as Pitvipers , which is an interesting analogy as a pit viper strikes at heat signatures , I guess carrying that ball gives you an extra bit of heat lol but the impressive thing was Sapp stating winning without defense is not going to happen on the road

i think it will be Ravens vs Giants. Would be the perfect way for Ray to end his career. Just how his career took off.

It only takes 1 bad game in playoff to kick you out of the race; the Saints looked really good last year but got whooped at Seattle with 1 bad game of the season.

So Packers vs Saints, whoever defense show up that night will win the game.

PS: I am so glad that we got our worst loss of the season out of the way; thanks to SD.....

The Saints are most people's underdog pick for the NFC but they're not that good outside the dome. If they win this week, they would have to have two games away from home to make the Super Bowl, unless Atlanta wins their first two which isn't likely.

Nah. They won't get a Special Teams TD this time.

Saints and Packers seem to be the likely candidates in the NFC, I say don't discount the Lions too much. I think they could cause some turmoil in the NFC during the Playoffs. If their D comes to play then it could be the difference. They have showed they have the firepower to keep up with the Saints and Packers.

If I had to pick a SB matchup right now, it is Ravens vs 49'ers.

I think Brother Jim will keep these guys in their games.

You think they can keep up with the Packers and the Saints? Their D is good but I don't like the way their offense matches up with the Saints and Packers' defenses.

At work there's a rabid Saints fan who is not optimistic about their chances outside of the dome. He predicts they will beat the Lions but not go much further. I don't agree...

Lambeau, man. Heck of a place to go and play a playoff game. Not that I don't love Drew Brees and think that on his best day, he's flat-out better and more accurate than any other QB in the NFL right now. Been a believer of his for quite some time and always liked him more than even Manning. Still--Lambeau. In January.

Ravens vs. GB is my pick.

didn't stop Nawlins a couple years ago!
Inside, outside, hot, cold, left, right, up, down -- Drew Brees is a HOF in the making surrounded with a glutton of talent.

They have built their team on the same principle as the Colts teams of the 2000s ---

their defense may not be good, but it is what they need to win games. The defense doesnt have to stop you from scoring: it only needs to make sure their offense has the ball more times than you do, so they focus on big plays and turnovers.

They are a scary team.

I really would like to see the Ravens play someone other than the Saints or the Packers in the Super Bowl. The Giants are a long shot. I don't think the Lions will make it, but they might upset upset the Saints. Let's just hope that the Packers lose to the 49ers in the divisional championship. A Har-bowl with the 49ers would be great!

Would be a little nervous about it just for that reason. The Niners may lose, but it will always be a nail biter if they do. They didn't lock up the number two seed by accident.

I dont like the idea of "I hope we dont face x-team".
We aren't the Bengals or Broncos who lost our way into the playoffs.
We are where we are because we are one of the elite teams. It's those other teams that should be praying to the football gods that they dont see the Ravens on their calendars.
I may be right about some things and wrong about others, but there is one thing I know for a fact -- there is not a team on the face of this planet that we are not capable of thumping.

If we are a true SB caliber team, then it matters not who is put in front of us, they are just next in line to get their hopes crushed.
