This is a good read.

Now, I personally don't need Billick's stats to say the Ravens will win the Superbowl because I have watched them all season and I know they can do it!

.......... but these stats are very telling and something exciting to look at.

I also just scored my ticket to the game and I can't wait!

Great post and great article. I think the statistics are an important measuring stick and about as good a tool for making predictions are you're gonna get this time of the year. They reflect our average performance throughout the year, and for us (I can't speak on the behalf of other teams because I don't follow them nearly as close) we know that those 4 outlier performances (2 of which shouldn't have happened) skewed our stats in the wrong direction. We have the potential to get this done IF we are ahead of those mistakes.

Personally, there's no way I'm going to buy into offense wins championships because it's proven that ball-control and defense this time of year is the formula. Of course if you abandon that and try to play into the hands of high-octane offenses (like Pit tried to do last year) when you are really a run-first team you'll get burnt. If we stick to our guns we will get to Indy

Not that strength of schedule has any bearing on those stats but I am willing to bet ours is way up top which makes our rankings even more impressive.

Maybe I will go look it up and post it. got some spare time here, haha

Wow. I stand corrected. We had a relatively easy schedule

Broncos .520
Lions .520
Texans .516
Saints .508
Packers .508
Patriots .504
Falcons .492
Giants .492
Bengals .473
Steelers .473
49ers .465
Ravens .457

Just goes to show what we already know. The Ravens are the most complete, balanced team in the AFC. We should represent the AFC in the SB if we play Ravens football.

That is Strength of Schedule based on last year...

This is Strength of Victory which to me is a better measure than SOS rankings that are based on last year.

Broncos .445
Lions .394
Texans .413
Saints .442
Packers .458
Patriots .423
Falcons ..375
Giants ..465
Bengals .326
Steelers ..411
49ers .418
Ravens .484

We match up very well having the best SOV of all the playoff teams!

Plus our QB stats are misleading. Joe never throws because RR27 eats, and because well....Cam

Not to mention Cam's philosophy of "Oh it's second and 2, let's dial up a 30 yard bomb" that half the time falls incomplete.

Yeah, I actually think Cam has great timing on when he calls for the bombs. I mean once in a while I'll be like "what the heck did he do that for??"; but usually the call is a great one.

Oh, I didn't realize that was last season.

Anyway, I think you are right SOV is more impressive. Also, we are 6-0 against playoff teams this season. No one else can say that.

YEAH RAVENS!!!!

SUPERBOWL
