Some threads just live too long for their own good. I still don't get the premise of this. It's not like we can take out Ed and Ray and replace them with Patrick Willis and Eric Weddle. Ray and Ed, if fully healthy, are by far the best options we have.

There's a question I have not (and I know will not) seen answered. Suppose we take Ed and Ray out, who do we replace them with?

I have already answered it. It's buried somewhere in these 9.5 pages. I said to take Ray Lewis out on passing downs and replace him wiyth an extra DB who can cover better. That would be a great way to give Haruki, Zibi, Carr, or Smith some time. Take Reed out on the run and replace him with an extra LB (Ellerbe or Ayanbedejo) who can tackle.

I think the opposing team love to have you as their opposing DC cuz your formation is perfect for them to quick throw to their WR and smoke our LBs into dust when no FS cover him. A run formation don't mean they will run or a pass formation don't mean they will pass.

I don't get it this thread is still going on; you must a Stealers fans who like to put a turmoil in our messageboard.....

I'll repeat a cripple Reed or Lewis is better than a healthy ones out there...lol it's a bit exaggerating but it shows how important they are when those twos on the field.

BA already plays in most sub-packages. The only situation in which I could understand taking out Ed would be in goal to go. If he is hesitant to tackle near the goal line, putting in an extra backer or maybe Zibby would make sense.

it doesnt happen often that its crystal clear what is a running play and what is a passing play prior to the snap.

So with out Miss Cleo on the side line I would prefer to have all my best wepons on the field at the same time.

Take Reed out on the run? Is the opposing OC kind enough to tell us when he is calling a run?

As for taking Ray out in pass downs, maybe if it is 3rd and a cab ride. Other than that, no! When it's 9 yards and less, too many teams use their RBs to pick up yardage through the air (we are a perfect example). Eight to twelve yards just screams "TE up the middle". I want Ray there for that.

What did I agree / disagree with you on? I'm just throwing in my two pence ... I see no reason to ever take Reed off the field, and at most, you can take Ray off the field if it is like 3rd and 18 or something.
