No one gives a crap who you beat on the way to the SB. History will only remember the name of the champion. So let the chips fall how they may -- if we are a true SB team, it wont matter who gets put in front of us.

I would love to destroy PIT when we come off of our bye.

BUT

1. We wont get our respect because PIT will be playing with a hobbled BB, and no Mendenhall

and more importantly,

2. The emotional and physical drain of a Ravens / Steelers game is not the ideal scenario when we likely have to travel to Foxborough the following week.

For the sake of our ultimate goal, I want the easiest possible path to the SB. I want Denver to pull a horseshoe out of their rears (see what I did there? Lol) and beat PIT.

Exactly. It isn't being scared, it's wanting the logical and easiest path.

Would feel even better if that actually meant anything..

You mean like winning the division, earning the #2 seed and a first round bye? Yeah I think it meant something.

Anyone who would rather play Pittsburgh in the playoffs isn't thinking with their head. The Ravens and Steelers are the two best and most complete teams in the AFC this year and I don't think there's any team in the Conference that could give as tough a game to the Ravens as they could. The Patriots have no D, the Texans have no QB, the the Broncos have even less at QB, and I have a hard time taking the Bengals seriously in the postseason. If we could take the Patriots in Baltimore then I would say there is no one I am more scared of than the Steelers in the AFC.

What have the Steelers done this year that has you shaking in your boots? They have an injury riddle defense, their best rb is on IR, and their QB is in a walking boot...

we put 35 on them when they were healthy, what the hell do you think we will do to them in a playoff game with a sea of purple pumping up our defense causing turnovers and 3 and outs and having ray rice and torrey smith tire out that defense!?!

Broncos will lose against Steelers though.

You must have missed the second game we played against the Steelers where we made a last-second comeback against them, and only because Joe Flacco was willing to go back to Torrey Smith after an end zone drop. The Steelers have accumulated a 12-4 record, and that's better than the Broncos, Bengals, and Texans have done. The Patriots don't have a win against a playoff team this season. So who's the scariest team in the AFC playoffs?

Obviously it's the Ravens. But the Steelers are a close second. They've won tough games and they've won plenty of them. They have Big Ben, one of the league's best QBs, getting healthy again. I just want to play the worst teams and dance into the Super Bowl without tiring out the team.

A game played in Pittsburgh is different than a game played in Baltimore. We will be fine as long as Cam and Joe get on same page.

GAH! I apologize in advance for this comment because we've heard it from everyone on this board all year, but I'm still peeved that Peter King puts Pittsburgh ahead of us in his Fine Fifteen in his latest MMQB!!!! We swept them, are AFC north champs and the #2 seed in the playoffs!! What more needs to be done?!?!

Again, I apologize

I think playing the Texans in the divisional round would be better for us because Pitt have a better chance at beating the Pats and that would mean we have home field throughout the playoffs. Beating Pitt in the championship game at home would be a dream for us ravens fans. It would be just like 08 when they swept us and beat us in the championship game.. karma is a bi***. Besides everytime we beat the steelers we always seem to lose the following week.. so Houston would be the better choice imo for round 1,but beating the steelers in the playoffs would be better then any win in team history besides when we won the superbowl or winning it this year.

Wow dude. Just wow.
I hate to belabor the point, but we have beaten them, twice in fact. And we swept the division. And we have the division title. That pretty much states that we are the better team already. Right? Not seeing them again in the playoffs, does not make them the better team.

But I do concede your point that slapping them one more time, while they are down would be amusing. A little revenge would go a long way.

I have to agree. Why get even more banged up playing a greuling Steelers matchup if we could have a cake walk and another week of relative rest? Remember, we would still have to play and beat the Packers (or some other NFC team) Being beat up makes it that much harder. And, love them or hate them, the Steelers always play a tough game. I also agree with the "no respect" concept since they are banged up.

Although, as I stated, slapping them one more time would be amusing.

Honestly I don't really see the Broncos beating the Steelers and the Bengals already lost at home to the Texans.

I would like to see the indoor Texans come to a harsh M&T personally because I am not a fan of playing in domed stadiums, so I love it when those teams face the elements. I would like to see the Steelers vs. Pats II matchup just for good football. Probably prefer then to play the Steelers in the AFC Championship, but I think our o-line, Vonta, and Rice would tear up the Pats defense.

I want the Texans and Steelers to win. Tebow would get blown out in Foxborough and the Steelers have a decent shot to beat them. Thats our best way to get 2 home playoff games so that is what I am rooting for.

Aside from seeing the Ravens take the entire AFC, I just want to see the Steelers lose and their rabid fans crying into their "Terrible Towels". Don't care how it happens, or who does it.

It will be that much better if they have a playoff "death-by-Ravens".

It's the Playoffs so regardless of who wins it won't be a cakewalk next round. With that said beating one team 3 times in a row is a difficult task, beating one team 3 times within a single season and playoff run is even more difficult.

On here people are just too extreme either they totally fear Pittsburgh or they are so obessed with beating Pittsburgh that a third win might be more important than a Superbowl title.
I feel that we play Pittsburgh no matter what. I don't think new England can beat them.

Another factor to consider is this team has shown to be an emotional team. After both Steeler games this season they fell flat the next game.... It's playoffs focus and intensity should be amped up, but if the Ravens were to defeat the steelers following the bye then don't take care of business in the next round it would just disgust me, while I'm sure some fans would be satisfied because yayyyy we beat Pittsburgh 3 times ( ummm whatever)

Steeler vs Raven games always end up with list of injuries also.....

I don't blame Ravens fans for being confident. The Ravens are a very solid team in all phases and except for the SD game, have played well down the stretch. The Steelers have not looked like a team ready to go deep in the playoffs. Staying healthy is a huge part of making a post season run and the Steelers are not anywhere near healthy. (Not an excuse, a reality) To be completely honest, the Ravens look like the most likely team to emerge from the AFC. The biggest hope I have as a Steeler fan is that the Denver game turns out to be a good thing. That can only happen if the Steelers use it to play their way out of this funk and no more key players get hurt or exacerbate injuries.

However, I understand the Ravens fans who don't want to see the team play a division foe for the third time. The familiarity makes those kinds of games crazy sometimes. But the bottom line is...it doesn't matter if the fans are "scared" or not. None of the players on either team will be afraid. And since going to Baltimore would mean the Steelers won their first round game...I am sure that Ben, Troy and Company would be happy to have the opportunity.
and...Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs and company couldn't careless which team comes to baltimore! M&T is NOT the place for any opposing team to be!

I am more worried about A Rodgers, Brady and Brees than Pittsburgh. Keep getting flash backs of that Chargers game and how easy it was for Rivers to score at will. Ben has never shown he can score at will against the Ravens.

IF the Stoolers want to do the Ravens a favor and take the Pats out in the Divisional that would be great.

I wouldn't worry about the Steelers too much this go around if I were a Raven / Ravens fan. The injuries on the Steelers will play a factor and they have not done so well against the better teams this year with or without the injuries. As a Steeler fan for forever, all I can go off of that gives them a chance is that they break out a different 'style' of play for the playoffs and so many of them have been there before (the veterans) that they are already used to that type of big game without getting nervous. So I hope the Steelers go all the way, but I'd be surprised if they do.
I think that this year the toughest playoff contender, after the Ravens, are the Patriots then the Texans. But it "should" be a relative cake-walk to the SB for the Ravens this year (as long as Harbs is successful in "preparing" the team for these big games) as opposed to previous years... and did I mention the Ravens have the home field 12th man this time around.
My only concern would be in the actual SB itself. If it's the Saints or GB, there lies the best competition (I think the Ravens could deal with San Fran and the rest pretty well). The Ravens would almost have to put up at least 28 points to win (vs. Saints or GB) so the offense will "have" to be firing on all 8 cylinders. But if the Ravens D plays up to their full potential as well, which we'll get a good idea of how they could do by their playoff play, then the balance of power will be heavily on the Ravens favor going into the SB.

I was scared of the Steelers a few weeks ago. But I have to agree with you. The injuries are starting to mount. Ben isn't being given ample time to heal. No Mendy.

So I am not as worried about the Steelers as I was three weeks ago. But it would still be a divisional game and all bets are off ofcourse. If the Steelers come to Baltimore, I feel like our pass rush will have the time of its life playing them in front of the home town.

I'd prefer not to play the Steelers. But deep down I do want to play them.

Better watch that talk. On another thread there were fans who seemed to believe you got a smaller duller trophy unless you beat the best of the best.
