Flacco Is The Guy
With all due respect, League scouts believe its one of the three best tools to judge. Just go back to his college film and it doesnt translate well to the pros. Extremely inaccurate making pro type throws. The proof will be when the Ravens do not re-sign him. Also, it doesnt make sense to run a faster 40now with pads on.He runs a 4.8 and will never be faster. It wouldnt matter as a possesion receiver if he had hands like Howard Twilley. How many of you remember those hands?
He's also dropped alot of weight recently. When he did the combine he had gained like 10 or 15 pounds. I think if he had to run a 40 right now, he'd definitly run better then a 4.8. I am not saying he's the fastest guy in the league or anything crazy like that but I am sure he's faster then that.

You are surely wrong. He dropped 20 lbs. of muscle mass -- not fat. Losing weight doesnt make you faster-- gaining lean muscle mass in the right grouping possibly can increase speed. Its mostly genetic. He didnt run any faster at Ohio State, all-star week, combine, or private workouts. You can look for hope anywhere you want, but there is no credible evidence of him improving his athletic abilities. I know he appears to be agreat kid, like Joe and Kyle, but that wont get it done.He is easy to root for.

We shall see when he gets on the field.

Wrong, absolutely no medical research has ver shown that.Thats like saying weight-lifting at an early age will stunt a childs growth. That are old wives tales. No scientific research has ever shown this.

Neepo, Iread your posts and Usually agree with you but unfortunately he will only see the field if Joe and Todd get hurt,or a trick play once in a while. He has major mechanic problems that prohibit him from throwing the ball accurately ie----- he has a major hitch in his delivery. In baseball its called a chicken arm because the hitch looks like a chicken wing. This is why Cam had worked with Troy for months to correct it. I hope he is a rare exception-- like a Hines Ward because it wont happen at qb.

Honestly, I dont know if you are right or wrong. You could very well be head on. But I am not quick to judge him based on what happended 2 years ago during the combine. Because he was overweight. When I said earlier that he lost weight, I wasnt talking about the weight he lost from his illness, before training camp he was working on getting his playing weight down to the pre-draft level. Based on what I have seen from at the pro level, I think he can be used at other positions in certain situations. But its only speculation and we will see soon.

I will be much happier if your belief in Troy proves to come to fruition. I have been wrong before and I would be very pleased if this is one of those times.
WOW!!! This kid really needs to settle down. It is way too early to be talking like this homie,CORRECTION, you should never talk like this. Seriously man, if you love this team you should support it no matter what. The 2008 Ravens have not given any fan reason to say stuff like this. They have shown nothing but improvemnet and good promise to do some big things now and in the future. I am asking any of you fans that feel like this and waste time in posting crap like this to just stay away because your wasting your time and the real fans on this website don't really feel like hearing it.
I don't feel like watching another Vinny Testeverde, Tony Banks or Elvis Grbac type qb turn the ball over week after week. Wish we all got our way, lol.

bro, patience is the key...Grbac, Testaverde, and Banks were not exactly rookies when they joined Baltimore. Flacco is our Foundation in offense at 24, and he needs some margin of error, considering he's a rookie.

i believe flacco is 23. time will tell what this season is going to be . who knows it could be a decent one followed by a superbowl run the next year only time will tell. but i do know this much we need to beat the colts and i think we can if flacco performs this week. we need solid play from him and no ints
I'm really interested in seeing how they incorporate Troy in the offense. Maybe like the way Jacksonville incorporated Matt Jones as a wide reciever while he played Quarterback in college. Troy has too much talent to just sit on the sideline with a hat and a clipboard.
Man, even though I was totally against Troy as the starting QB I have often said that if he sits the bench the coaches are fools. This kid is an athlete's athlete. I'd LOVE to see him play a Reggie Bush type role, but guess what? The man can THROW also!!! I really hope he sees some snaps on the offense. It just gives us another dimension and other teams just one more thing to worry about.

You were told wrong, broseph. My brother's fiancee works for the Ravens- Troy was penciled in as the starter, Boller #2, and Flacco #3. Then all hell broke loose!

Umm He told you wrong. Troy wasn't penciled in as the starter, He was given the starters role in the 2nd pre-season game and also the 3rd to see how He would do. Boller has a few years of tape so Harbaugh and Cam figured they could look at that and see what Boller's about. They didn't get to see enough of Smith in game situations. If He would have performed well then I'm sure He would have been the starter.

It's a shame someone with his talent didn't get the right oppurtunity to prove himself.

But, those are the breaks. he's going to be a tremendous athlete on this team. Either at QB, Backup QB, RB, or WR, I'm anxious for him to get on the football field so I can sport my customized Troy Smith jersey. ^_^
