I don't know.. Wouldn't it be more logical if they gave a chance to McElroy?
Oddly enough, I did think of that recently. Didn't he put up the highest wonderlic score of his class? I wonder what's holding him back. I think they should give him an opportunity next year.

What's great is up in NY there are way more Jets fans than there used to be. About 95% of the Jets jerseys you see are Sanchez ones. Don't put the blame on Santonio. He and Mason just got sucked into a place and the hype where receivers go to die.

He just doesn't seem to have "it". He could be the serviceable game manager that the Jets need. Never really impressed me at 'Bama since he was working with Julio Jones, Marquis Maze, Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson and an offensive line consisting of Andre Smith, Barrett Jones, D.J Fluker, William Vlachos and James Carpenter (at different points in time). He had that plethora of weapons and protection yet never looked anything more than average.

For some reason I thought McElroy would end up being the Tom Brady of the 2011 Draft. I think if he has the proper coaching he can be a starting caliber QB. Honestly, he is probably better than Sanchez.

They were probably all bought after he was drafted 5th overall and before his 2nd season, when the Jets fans still had hope that he could be anything better than inept.

Well, I'm sure he got great coaching when he was at Bama.

He may be better than Sanchez. I've been reading Play Like You Mean It by Rex and it's very apparent that Rex has an obsession with Mark. He even admits it. He calls Mark "his baby" since he was his first draft pick and his quarterback as a head coach. That might be skewing his perception of who's the better quarterback. But that also falls back on Schottenheimer.

I think they were bought because of how loud the team has been the last few years. There are a lot of fans new to football in NY who are now Jets bandwagoners because of all the attention Ryan brought to the team.

I'll bet most of the people wearing Sanchez jerseys are just your typical fairweather fans. I mean, what real, long-time Jets fan has only one jersey of his team, and a Sanchez one at that? Actually, half of the Sanchez jerseys are women's jerseys, and female football fans tend to be the "I'm in love with the quarterback but I don't know anyone else" type of fans. Needless to say, those jerseys will be worth "diddly poo" soon enough.

This will be a horrible night for the Ryan Brothers, Rex and Rob will lose and both will be out of the playoffs.

Don't worry though, I'm sure Rex will guarantee winning Super Bowl 47 in tomorrow's press conference.

I love watching other teams implosions. Jets have a lot of questions. No real direction. They are a .500 team next year.

Epic Fail.

All of that is crazy, and I'm having fun reading about the mess they're in right now. But it just goes to show that there aren't a lot of stable franchises in this league. Kind of sad, but hey, it's the Jets.

This is gold.

One of them isn't going to be there next season.

Ryan will not change...he will start chirping again in August with that Super Bowl BS. That is one major meltdown in the swamps of Jersey.

This quote just blows my mind
New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will not be fired, although he is scheduled to interview for the Jacksonville head coaching job.
How bleeping stupid do the Jaguars look right now? What's their thinking here? "Oh gee, this guy barely avoided getting fired for being terrible this season. That's the kind of guy we want for our head coach!"

Seriously.. How can Schottenheimer be a candidate for a head coaching job?..
He's the equivalent of Cam according to most Jets fans..

Well, the difference was that Cam was going from being a head coach to an offensive coordinator, a demotion. Brian Schottenheimer would be getting a promotion for being terrible at his job.

In his defense, his quarterback is Mark Sanchez. And no one is anywhere close to being as bad as Cam is.

If you want to talk about a Schottenheimer that deserves a head coaching job, just look at Marty. The last time he coached in the NFL, he only took the Chargers to a 14-2 record and the #1 seed in the AFC. There are 31 teams in the NFL wishing they had those kind of problems.

I don't understand it either.
I'm seeing names like Schotty and Mularkey (who most Falcons fans hate) getting interviewed, but no one wants Cam...
At first I thought it was because they were only interviewing coaches out of the playoffs (which would seem pretty obvious) and then I saw Bill O'Brien's name show up too so it's obviously not just coaches out of the playoffs...

I keep hoping beyond hope that someone will be desperate enough to take him off our hands. Alas, no.

I usually do not take any pleasure in watching teams implode in such fashion but, it's the Jets, and it's just funny.

Cam is from North Carolina
North Carolina have an excellent football program, the Tarheels send lots and lots of players to the NFL
They are under investigation by the NCAA so maybe staff will be cleared out

So Cam to gracefully exit and leave on good terms like Mattison did?

Hey, I have no backup and this is wild speculation but ESPN invent stories like this all the time

For all those people clamoring for Rex Ryan. This is exactly why we didn't want him. That team is lost. Players do what they want, they say what they want. Its a free for all. No leadership in the locker room. No team values. Its a sinking ship.

Sure it worked for a few years (with some luck going their way). But Rex has almost been the cancer to the team IMO. He's planted the seed and led by example (bad example). And when it doesn't work, it all goes south.

Even if the Jets won, they still wouldn't have made it in. But having the Dolphins beat them in the season finale was great. What a bad taste to stay in their fans mouths for an entire offseason.

There will be no exit from the playoffs this year. Absolutely nothing for them to hang their hats on.

Didn't realize that. Guess they did need a lot of help to get in.
Is there any truth to Scott being cut?

I don't know. He took a pay cut a while back. And part of that pay cut agreement was that his final two years would be guaranteed. So he is going to get paid his full contract no matter what.

So basically they really have to hate him and think he's a cancer for the team. Its not like they are very deep at MLB.

I think the story was a bit of a reach at this point of time.

Just found this on NFL.com:

In other Jets news, the team has told people that it can get out of paying Bart Scott the $4 million he's guaranteed for 2012, which would be news to the veteran linebacker. Scott seems to believe he is set for next season, whether he is with the team or not.

So, doesn't appear he's been cut.....yet.
