Ya know why he was buried in the depth charts?

He can't play anymore.
I didn't want to be the one to come out and say it, but you're right. He was probably the number 3 receiver here last year. I actually think having Houshmanzadeh in more might have helped a bit. Younger, faster, taller, and has good hands (except for that one colossal drop in Pittsburgh).

The future is now. If Torrey, Ed & Dennis all bring their A game, I guess we should be OK. At this point, it is what it is. I'm sure Heap and Mason will be there in spirit.

So I guess Cam runs the routes now? And defenders just choose not to cover a player? And players are just magically open" by design"?

I have heard it all.
You've heard it all huh? You obviously are blind! Yes players can be opened by scheme and design. In fact, it should be expected. If I see players are getting jammed at the line and the corners are being very aggressive it might be a good idea to move to a bunch formation that doesn't allow the bump. So yes, design can get someone open.

If defenses see the same routes and same basic plays they're smart enough to learn and know your tendency. But since you're so smart and have now heard it all good for you. You might be the only person on the planet that doesn't see that Cam's pass offense is horrendous! By "design" his offense produces great running backs (i.e. Tomlinson). Look at his career. When he left San Diego Phillip Rivers has thrown for 4,000 yards ever since. He's an outdated coach that either needs to learn to develop his passing game or quit.

I can't believe that I even had to write this!

Schemes don't automatically make a player open like you seem to suggest. That's just asinine to think that. Design won't make them get open, but it may help them.

And, I don't even see where you think I'm a Cam supporter. I did support him in the past, but this season, I have hopped on the Fire Cam bandwagon. Way to go assuming things buddy.

If you trully believe that then you're not as football intelligent as I give you credit to be.

Fine by me dude. I may not be an NFL coach, but I know a thing or two about football schemes. ;)

So, are you implying tht by simply running the bunch formation, Boldin will magically be open?

um, heelllllloooooo....

you talk as if players have to get seperation on their own merit or something.

I honestly dont even know why we have a draft when it is so obvious that playcalling determines how effective a player is. Anyone can just put on a uni and succeed with the right coaching.

So what happens when you face a real defense and they figure out your scheme? What then? Hopefully the guys can overcome that with a little talent, no?

Curse you Mark Clayton, for never having the right coaching! Curse you Dan Cody, I know you had darn good coaching, therefore you must have had the wrong uni. Argh. It's purple and black and has a raven on it. How hard could it be to find in the city of Baltimore?

Look at who he married. It's obvious that even if he had the right coaching, he wouldn't be smart enough to understand it, and if he got the right uni, he wouldn't be able to put it on properly. My god, Carrie Preejan - I just get shivers and have to look over my shoulder whenever I think of her.

He's kidding. You made the point that schemes do matter, and he was sarcastically replying negatively to the post - basically, he was supporting what you said through sarcasm. Seriously, we all should demand a sarcasm icon. Or just do this at the end of a post (sarcasm).

Plus one for managing to use the words 'seriously' and 'sarcasm' in the same sentence lol

I'm thinking that it would be best if we all just stopped using sarcasm altogether. ( sarcasm )

I'd much rather see the team rotate both guys on a regular basis than commit to one or the other -- that, however, also means that Dickson shouldn't be the starter until he can redeem himself.

Take that as you will. I like Pitta but I'd rather reap the benefits of both guys than to significantly increase the snaps of one guy at the expense of the other.

Uh guys...Pitta is NOT hispanic.

He is your run of the mill, everyday, white Mormon. Just like Todd Heap.

Not Hispanic. White.

Not Hispanic. Not at All.

Don't know where that came from, untrue. White Guy.

What happened to the "diesel" package?
Ravens still use it. It's 2 WR 2 TE set with Pitta playing in in the slot.

Pitta had better hands than Dickson while they were in college, he has better hands now and will have better hands in the future.

But hey... Dickson has teh 4.5 speed MI RITE?!

Here's the only question I need to have answered: can Dickson grow a Fu Manchu the way Pitta can? Bam, argument over.

Unitl Cam changes his offense to utilize both tight ends, I say put the faster, more athletic and sure handed Pitta in the game plan over Dickson.

Ahhhh nope....Pitta 4.63 Dickson a 4.67. And Pitta at the NFL combine was number one out of all the tight ends in the 20 yard shuttle the 30 yard shuttle and 60 yard shuttle.

Actually I think he is Hispanic, but that's even better! I can't think of any other successful Hispanic TE currently playing, so maybe Pitta can start a new trend.
I think Tony Gonzalez would have something to say about that.

For this game start Pitta He's more reliable on the short routes and i think thats what we have to do to win because of Missing Yanda. Start out running and the short passing game. Then later take your shots down field. As far as Dickson or Pitta. I like Dickson in the slot and Pitta as the TE. In my view as i have said before, haveing two good young TE is only going to last until we we get a trade offer for a high draft pick or O lineman or safety. We have to many contracts up this year to keep both. What do ya think

Okay let me rephrase, since everyone is hung up on the term 'starter'.

Dickson has been targeted what, twice as many times as Pitta?
I think that should be reversed. Pitta should be getting the lion's share of looks in the passing game.
