Cleveland Columnist Writes: [You Took] Our Team, How About Giving Us Your Quarterback?

246 posts in this topic

There are several potential free agent QBs this year that would improve the Browns. They may not get Luck or Gabbert, but they could always draft another QB in the 1st round. The Browns are notorious for having great draft picks and still underperforming during the season. Wow, we could have an incredible team if we had a few of their picks over the last 5 years. We didn't steal their team. Just like the Colts, the NFL is a business where teams move for a better deal, new stadium, or new ownership. I seriously doubt that Grubbs, Rice, nor Flacco are going anywhere. I think that Cameron will go first.

You can have him give us Josh Cribbs and your First round pick next year.
I d honestly want more than that. Joe is are guy, but say Josh Cribbs a 1st , a 2nd and a 3rd, which will never happen but that would be a hard deal to turn down.

Late night had been drinking. Sorry for their. Thanks for pointing out that huge mistake in grammar. LMAO.... u feel better.. this is football, not a spelling bee. If i was GM i put you at quarterback, with no line, in a must win game in Pittsburgh......lol

All of this^^^^^^^and
Flacco is still average.
Actually, this is neither football nor a spelling bee. This is an internet forum, where people with no idea what they're talking about can spout off.

So you can't even avoid basic grammar mistakes, but Flacco should do everything right at the hardest position in sports? If I was GM I'd have you return kickoffs and tell no one to block. Then I'd keep my fingers crossed for a concussion so we wouldn't have to listen to you for a few hours.

Do you remember those years before Flacco when the Ravens could never string together four consecutive playoff appearances?

See that's the thing.. Prolly 75-80% of people on here were not a fan 5 years ago and they have no idea of the history of our franchise

U kidding me a top 5 LT for a mediocre quarterback.
That would be great. But the only mediocre QB we have is Tyrod, and I dont think CLE is that stupid.

Funny how Thomas protects CLE mediocre QB and we see how that is working out for them. Yet our OL does not protect Flacco and yet Flacco is still taking us to a first round bye.

Funny you say this....... I do have a Baltimore Browns T shirt that my sister bought for me back in 95. I'm glad we decided to change the Team name.

Glad they didn't bring the colors and name....they are bad luck....What have the Browns done since they came back into the league?

I won't be as diplomatic as you are being; I'll flat out say it -- many people on here simply have no idea what they are talking about. How else do you explain the rash (an appropriate metaphor) of Flacco haters?

The sad part is that the City of Cleveland knew before hand that the team was leaving and sat on their hands and let them go unlike a certain team who used to play in Baltimore.

I'd give them Flacco for their 1st round pick next year.... Joe will choke this week in Cincinnati and again in the playoffs. The guy has more weapons to throw to then any QB in the division and fails to find open receivers. If you actually go to the games, it's far more obvious...unbelievable how many times I've seen Bolton open streaking to the inzone only to see Flacco sacked or dumping to Rice. That's why Q always looks so pissed. Then you hear our receivers are failing to get separation, that's more often then not just bull
Wow, Michael Bolton plays wideout too? My respect for him just went up.

Flacco and Joe Thomas head up would almost be a good trade. U kidding me a top 5 LT for a mediocre quarterback.

I said he was average. Not horrible, no Tyrod starting nonsense, just average, and judging by the stats and the game play this year it is hard to debate that fact. The problem i have with the posters on this and every thread is that they think they are right because of a game winning drive in Pittsburgh. That is one game all season. Don't get me pointing out all the bad games he has played in this year. If you want people to believe that Flacco has not regressed he gets his chance next week. Will it be Flacco, or Ray Rice and the defense that leads the way?
Once again you post two things back to back that completely contradict each other. And were you even watching this team when we had a Hall of Fame left tackle named Jonathan Odgen and a running back named Jamal Lewis put up 1500+ yards from scrimmage 3 years in a row and we still missed the playoffs? Still were one and done when we got in? Where is your explanation for that, if any quarterback could come in here and win? All I'm asking for is your explanation.

Since you brought up running Qb's, i know a rookie with more Tds than Flacco. Your sarcasm against the scrambling Qb's is so funny its ridiculous. Flacco isn't better than Vick or CAM.......... Blinders
Flacco isn't better than Vick? Who the heck has blinders on. It took 7 years and jail to get that guy to be a real quarterback. He spent how many years in Atlanta and did what? Flacco has done more in 4 years as a pro than Vick has done for his teams in a decade. Vick had the dream team this year. You cannot say he doesn't have the talent everywhere. His line is better, his receivers are better, he's played a softer schedule, and he still has 15 TDs, 13 INTS, and 1, yes 1, rushing TD, while his team is 7-8 and will miss the playoffs. So tell me, in what fantasy world do you live in that Vick has outplayed Flacco this year? Their quarterback ratings are very close, and yet Vick has more talent around him at the receiver position (Maclin, Celek, Jackson), a better offensive line, also has a very good running back, and plays weaker competition - Flacco has played the number 1 defense in the NFL twice, the number 2 defense, numbers 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 17, 21, 27. Vick, with all of the superior talent around him, has played 9, 28 twice, 21, 4, 24, 13, 14 twice, 18, 19, 32, 16, 10, and 6. That's 3 top twelve defenses for Vick, 10 for Flacco. Get over yourself and be objective. Almost identical stats, yet one guy has more talent around to help him while Flacco is playing with 2 second year tight ends, a rookie at wide receiver, and no true left tackle. Who has the blinders on?

I've really had enough arguing with you. You claim to not have formed an opinion on Flacco, at times you've apparently even complimented him, but I have to believe those posts were somebody else on your account. You flat-out dislike Flacco, I can't believe any reasonable person could look at Flacco's stats in 4 years in the NFL and how they compare to Michael Vick's 8, and tell me a guy who has completed over 60 percent of his passes just once in his career and has a 2-4 record in the playoffs while completing over 60 percent of his passes just once (because he threw the ball just 15 times in that game), 5 TDs and 4 picks is better than a guy with a record of 4-3, 4 TDs, 7 picks with 4 of those picks coming as a rookie in Pittsburgh. Flacco has throughout his career played tougher competition with inferior talent around him, and still done better. Numbers do not lie, except apparently when people discuss Joe Flacco.

man these Flacco haters are funny, their not even being realists. I'm not ready to set this franchise back 10 years. Flacco hasn't been perfect, in fact he has been inconsistent. But every QB has had bad games this season.

Would you even say we had a true left tackle of the future on this team? Sadly, I think Oher's future is on the right, as is Jah Reid's, and McKinney is a stop gap.

Unless your name is Tim Tebow, you won't get any national love for being a winner. I'm not a Tebow basher but I'm just sayin'. Just about everything the national media praises Tim Tebow for at the NFL level, Flacco has done that and then some.

I want a better LT either way. McKinnie's a stop gap, and isn't really that great anyway.

Apparently there are people outside of a select number within the Ravens fan base that think that Joe Flacco is a good quarterback.

Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer admits that most people don't see Flacco as being an elite quaterback, but he argues that Joe is in the top ten and believes that the Browns won't get anywhere until they begin to draft players that are at least as good as Baltimore's #5.

I think we started turning the ship in 2006 with that defense. 2007 was a wash. That was just an injury plagued season.

Just because Joe is Better than Boller doesn't mean he is the reason we went to playoffs 4 years in a row. Rice had a huge impact on getting us to the playoffs. and Lorenzo Neal and McClain the year before.

Right, everything good is the team and everything bad is Joe, as usual. It's just dumb to think that. Flat out dumb. Flacco is indeed a significant reason for our consistent winning, and if he wasn't in the same division as the Steelers and Roethlisberger (likely a hall of fame QB), people would be able to see that more clearly.

His performances against the Steelers isn't what makes him bad in peoples eyes. It's his performances against the lesser teams and his up and down season.

But you are right, Joe contributed to our 4 seasons in a row playoff run just as everyone else on the team like you said....including Cam Cameron
