Cleveland Columnist Writes: [You Took] Our Team, How About Giving Us Your Quarterback?

I'm not trying to, other posters keep bringing his name up all the time. He's just one of many names, including Smith, Boller, and the retired Marc Bulger, that people in the last week have suggested would be ideal replacements for Flacco. I like Tyrod, i think with time he could develop into a decent quarterback. But I don't believe he will ever be as good as Joe Flacco. And going off of his college stats, I don't see any reason why anyone on this board would think he could come in right now and do a better job than Joe is. My point is, the "Start Tyrod" threads are written by people who are more about replacing Flacco, and less about what they think Tyrod could do for us, IMO. if our backup was Cade McNown, we'd see the same threads about him.
i feel you!

but to say that he won't be as good as Joe Flacco is premature! you don't know that because he is not starting. don't forget, Joe was our 3rd string QB on the depth chart and due to ailments with the #1 and #2 QBs he was thrust into the starting role. now...i'm definitely not saying that Tyrod needs to replace Joe Flacco. that is assanine imo. however, to diminish the "potential" that is in Tyrod for the sake of "pubbing" up Joe is weak. let's just be glad that we have a good QB like Tyrod to backup Joe and be happy with that instead of having a love one QB and hate the other QB on the roster mentality in that seems to be prevelant this place!

I'd give them Flacco for their 1st round pick next year.... Joe will choke this week in Cincinnati and again in the playoffs. The guy has more weapons to throw to then any QB in the division and fails to find open receivers. If you actually go to the games, it's far more obvious...unbelievable how many times I've seen Bolton open streaking to the inzone only to see Flacco sacked or dumping to Rice. That's why Q always looks so pissed. Then you hear our receivers are failing to get separation, that's more often then not just bull
I refuse to take football advice from anyone who refers to it as the "inzone."

Sometimes I feel bad for Cleveland but then I run into their fans, they deserve what they have. And Cleveland fans on the article are saying that Colt Mccoy is better than Flacco, so you know what, screw them. They can finish last for the next 20 yrs for all I care.

A singer from the 80s with hair like Fabio, is my guess. Definitely not anyone on our team, that's for sure. And the guy is a Steelers' troll. Who else would want the Bengals to beat us?

You can have him give us Josh Cribbs and your First round pick next year.
That's a horrible trade. If we were to make such a trade it should be Flacco. For Joe Thomas and their highest #1 pick in 2012 draft since they have 2 1st picks. Or do Flacco for both 1st picks this yr and 1st pick in 2013. Since Flacco is better than Palmer IMO.

There's so much wrong with this. First if u had said Bolden, Boldon instead of Boldin it be forgive but gosh Bolton really!!! Also u have clearly never see constant replays of receivers running curls on top of one another with no seperation. But this occurs because of poor play calling, no putting players in position to succeed. Game-time adjustments, doing routes in middle of field is not Cameron's strong suit....

At least once a game Flacco holds on to the ball hoping a WR will break their route and become. Free for pass on broke play ( this leads to sack or dump off most times ).

Anyone who calls it the "inzone" and doesn't even know the name of Flacco's #1 WR (Boldin) does not have the right to an opinion on anything football related.

Joe's a winner. Anyone who says otherwise is mistaken in my opinion. I'm happy to have him here in Baltimore and wish the fans supported him a little more. We've had far worse at quarterback before. I think he's the best we've ever had as a franchise.
Vinnie in '96 was our best QB. He did amazing things with the lack of a good offensive line and strong receivers to throw to. The only reason his completion % was low was because of all the dropped passes that were right in the receivers hands. Then again, most on this board don't remember the seasons before the super bowl Joe is a decent 2nd to 3rd tier QB and better than anyone else we've had aside from the '96 year mentioned above. He still has problems going through his looks, panics a bit too early (but has gotten much better with that almost to a fault of holding on to it too long) and could use to be a bit more accurate. With that said I wouldn't trade him.

We didn't "take" their team. At least they didn't have their name and legacy taken like Indy did to us. They got another team right away too...(seems like they got a much better deal than we did). As for Flacco...the argument continues. He's good enough not to be bad and bad enough not to be good. We've gone to 4 strait playoffs because of the defense people...not the offense. Joe is the reason I became a Raven's fan again but Come 'on Joe be at least a little consistent...

Funny you say this....... I do have a Baltimore Browns T shirt that my sister bought for me back in 95. I'm glad we decided to change the Team name.

Sometimes I can't stand to read the idiotic comments on here. For over a decade we struggled to find anything close to a franchise qb and now that we have one we want to just ship him away. Unbelievable....I'm not sure I would trade Joe for the entire Cleveland Browns roster much less their LT and a first round draft pick.

I am sure Nothing the browns have that i want

Late night had been drinking. Sorry for their. Thanks for pointing out that huge mistake in grammar. LMAO.... u feel better.. this is football, not a spelling bee. If i was GM i put you at quarterback, with no line, in a must win game in Pittsburgh......lol

All of this^^^^^^^and
Flacco is still average.

Flacco has left me scratching my head many times this year. BUT, so have quite a few other players. As stated before, the problem with this board is the few that are so quick to blame Flacco on an individual level. Again, I am not a Flacco apologist, just get agitated with sole blame for losses and sole praise for wins. Not directed at you so much, just in general...

Shh. Some people around here don't like it when you start bringing facts into the equation. Flacco is not a running quarterback like Michael Vick, therefore he sucks. I mean, haven't you heard that Tyrod Taylor would already have thrown 40 touchdowns and ran for 40 more this season?
Since you brought up running Qb's, i know a rookie with more Tds than Flacco. Your sarcasm against the scrambling Qb's is so funny its ridiculous. Flacco isn't better than Vick or CAM.......... Blinders

I said he was average. Not horrible, no Tyrod starting nonsense, just average, and judging by the stats and the game play this year it is hard to debate that fact. The problem i have with the posters on this and every thread is that they think they are right because of a game winning drive in Pittsburgh. That is one game all season. Don't get me pointing out all the bad games he has played in this year. If you want people to believe that Flacco has not regressed he gets his chance next week. Will it be Flacco, or Ray Rice and the defense that leads the way?

Apparently there are people outside of a select number within the Ravens fan base that think that Joe Flacco is a good quarterback.

Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer admits that most people don't see Flacco as being an elite quaterback, but he argues that Joe is in the top ten and believes that the Browns won't get anywhere until they begin to draft players that are at least as good as Baltimore's #5.

http://www.cleveland...html#incart_mrt

Hey if he wants to give us a top ten pick for Joe, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I think we are a good team with or without him as long as we have our defense and run game going. Although it would NEVER happen, it would take pressure off Ozzie of getting long term deals for Grubbs, Rice and Flacco.
