Cleveland Columnist Writes: [You Took] Our Team, How About Giving Us Your Quarterback?

246 posts in this topic

Apparently there are people outside of a select number within the Ravens fan base that think that Joe Flacco is a good quarterback.

Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer admits that most people don't see Flacco as being an elite quaterback, but he argues that Joe is in the top ten and believes that the Browns won't get anywhere until they begin to draft players that are at least as good as Baltimore's #5.
For his career, he's completed 61 percent of his passes, 77 touchdowns compared to 45 interceptions. He has had a couple of stinker games on the road this season and is backed with a defense that annually is in the top five. But the fact remains Flacco has taken the Ravens to the playoffs in all of his four pro seasons -- and done it in the AFC North.

Browns fans should be quick to say, In exchange for you taking our team, how about you giving us your quarterback?
Joe's a winner. Anyone who says otherwise is mistaken in my opinion. I'm happy to have him here in Baltimore and wish the fans supported him a little more. We've had far worse at quarterback before. I think he's the best we've ever had as a franchise.

Exactly. The best we've ever had and still young, healthy and improving all the time. And despite what some say, a proven winner. I can't wait to see what he will do with a decent OC and full receiving corps.

You can have him give us Josh Cribbs and your First round pick next year.

pass... maybe their LT and a 1st rounder

Funny, almost everyone in the league but some Ravens fans and Skip Bayless seem to know how good Joe Flacco is. I just really hope Joe doesn't pull a Drew Brees on us, although if Cam is still here next year and beyond I wouldn't blame him.

We gave them Ja. Lewis didn't we? You'd think they'd be grateful for our greatest RB
Yeah, I think we should demand Joe Thomas as compensation for giving them the greatest running back in Ravens franchise history. Even past his prime he still put up 2300 yards in 2 seasons in Cleveland. Still can't believe we released him like that, I know it was to try and resign him, but still.

Sometimes I can't stand to read the idiotic comments on here. For over a decade we struggled to find anything close to a franchise qb and now that we have one we want to just ship him away. Unbelievable....I'm not sure I would trade Joe for the entire Cleveland Browns roster much less their LT and a first round draft pick.

"Here Browns have the closest thing we've ever had to an elite quarterback and all we want in return is a first round pick and a kick return specialist." hahahaha

Some Ravens fans need to appreciate Flacco for what he is. I'm sure that there are more than this Cleveland columnist that would like to have him on their team. If it was as simple as "riding our elite defense" then why is it only during the Flacco era that we're a consistently good team?

Teams right now have far worse at the QB position. I would say 20+ teams have a worse QB. I do not know why it is that so many Ravens fans do not see that.

I'm glad you're not our GM, you don't even know the difference between there and their. You'd run our team into the ground in a week's time.

Don't you know? Flacco is the only QB that benefits from a good defense. The amount that our team carries him is unprecedented; it must be, since we've won twice as many games as we've lost under him. And since it can't possibly be the fact that he's a good QB, it must be that we're the most talented team ever. If we just had some average back up we'd win the SB, but we're stuck with Joe Flacco...holding us back to only winning 11 or 12 games a year instead of 15. If only we had Tim Tebow to run around for us, he's got that FIRE!!!!

Its sarcasm. Sarcasm has been flying over everybody's heads lol, just goes to show the type of arguments that are witnessed on a daily basis against Flacco. Oh well

Hey Cleveland...you forget that Mr. Modell did everything he could to keep the team in your crappy city.

Go find your own franchise QB.You'll have enough high draft picks year in and year out that you'll find him eventually.

Remember too, if Troy Smith were still here he would have led us to 10 Superbowl titles already, even though he came into the league in 2007. How could we let Troy and his magical abilities get away for a guy who has only led this team to 43 regular season wins in 4 years? Why, Ozzie, why did you do it?

This is not a knock on the Ravens or any of their players at all just a simple and true statement: Terry Pluto is an idiot and has been an idiot for a very long time. He's probably the worst in a line of what I'd call "mediocre at best" Cleveland media personnel.

Shh. Some people around here don't like it when you start bringing facts into the equation. Flacco is not a running quarterback like Michael Vick, therefore he sucks. I mean, haven't you heard that Tyrod Taylor would already have thrown 40 touchdowns and ran for 40 more this season?

I'm not trying to, other posters keep bringing his name up all the time. He's just one of many names, including Smith, Boller, and the retired Marc Bulger, that people in the last week have suggested would be ideal replacements for Flacco. I like Tyrod, i think with time he could develop into a decent quarterback. But I don't believe he will ever be as good as Joe Flacco. And going off of his college stats, I don't see any reason why anyone on this board would think he could come in right now and do a better job than Joe is. My point is, the "Start Tyrod" threads are written by people who are more about replacing Flacco, and less about what they think Tyrod could do for us, IMO. if our backup was Cade McNown, we'd see the same threads about him.

I'd give them Flacco for their 1st round pick next year.... Joe will choke this week in Cincinnati and again in the playoffs. The guy has more weapons to throw to then any QB in the division and fails to find open receivers. If you actually go to the games, it's far more obvious...unbelievable how many times I've seen Bolton open streaking to the inzone only to see Flacco sacked or dumping to Rice. That's why Q always looks so pissed. Then you hear our receivers are failing to get separation, that's more often then not just bull
