Who Will Our New Qb Be ?

739 posts in this topic

For the record I think Flacco is our franchise QB. Wile I will admit he is not perfect (and who is ) I think he is by far the best the Ravens have ever had, and is a leader for our team.

BUT since so many of you think I am wrong and think Flacco should be cut.
WHO will be our starting QB next year?
How will we obtain this player?
and why do you think this player is significantly better than Joe Flacco?
I want facts not opinions, and dont even start with that "They show more emotion mumbo jumbo " screaming like a banshee doesnt win games. I want facts.

If you cant answer all three questions then shut up with the whole "cut Flacco" stuff.

A Cam Cameron-less Flacco and then time will tell! He'll either make it or fizzle away....I believe the former of those two!

Dude, sorry to say, this thread will be shut down by a mod soon. Whenever a thread appears that has a high likelihood of dissolving into posters attacking each other, it gets closed. But I agree. The fact is there are maybe 5 or 6 qbs in the league I honestly believe would come in here and do a better job. Actually let me try naming them. Brady, P. Manning, Brees, Rivers, Schaub, Rodgers, and maybe Eli. I would honestly take any one of them (except maybe Eli, not real sure yet) over Flacco. That's it.

Here are what I'd say to the others.

Stafford: plays a lot of weak defenses, has the best receiver in all of football, has a ton of great other receivers like his tight end, and he also throws a lot of picks.

Ryan: on a loaded team, plays weak defenses.

Sanchez: Hahahahahahahaha.

Michael Vick: Really? This guy only just figured out how to complete over 60 percent of his passes, is also on a loaded team, and he gets injured a lot. Imagine a guy like him, just over 6 feet tall and slender, trying to survive in the AFC North.

Freeman: Really came back down to earth this year.

Romo: Loaded team, chokes when it matters.

Fitzpatrick: Very inconsistent, loaded offense, plays weak teams all the time.

Alex Smith: I think Thanksgiving was all you needed to watch.

Honestly, people don't realize how good Flacco is. That's just the way it will probably always be in Baltimore. Reminds me of Dave Kreig's time in Seattle. Excellent qb, has numbers that should put him in the HOF, but nobody knows who he is because he played in Seattle in the 80s, and Seattle was as foreign as China back then. Nobody respected Kreig except other NFL players, and it's only now that people, looking back on history, get a chance to appreciate how good he was.

Yeah, you are right.
We are 11-4 and undefeated at home and I come here to the flock to get bombarded with negativity based on unrealistic expectations and the blame game from people sitting on their couches watching every thing in hindsight.

Its old and we have a minimum of two weeks to go in this season.

I might just leave this place for a day or two...

And no, most people here would poo-poo all over those QBs too for the same reasons.
Picks, bad passes, and dropped balls, cause EVERY ONE OF THEM has done that.

His a mediocre QB in a great defense roster.

I really want him to get better, but unfortunately he has regressed big time. Unless our defense plays lights out, there's very little chance we can win the SB. And tbh, after 3 playoff appearance...being good and getting into playoff isnt our goal anymore. We need to win the SB. I don't see us winning one with Flacco playing like the way his playing.
So then, we think about next year. We have a salary cap. With his contract comming up. If we were to dump few playmakers (Ben Grubbs, Ray Rice, Ladarius Webb) instead of Flacco to meet the salary cap. We are over next year. Thats just the fact.

I am really looking forward to seeing Joe without Cam. I truly believe that when Cam is fired, we will see Joe's true potential. If he still struggles after that, then I will have serious doubts.

If the defence doesnt create that turn over in this game ( Webbs Int ) we lose by one point. So if you people are happy with a QB that cant do anything with his own offence you're MAD lol.

lol Well apparently people are content with WRs and TEs that have the most dropped passes in the NFL.

And you didn't answer all the questions the OP put up as criteria.

K-Dog I am with you all the way. Joe Flacco is our guy. He is far from perfect but he is better than alot of people give him credit for. I for one am glad Joe Flacco is a Baltimore Raven.

I vote we bring back Elvis Grbac. I mean, come one, he was done after his season with us, so the 10 years off must have given him plenty of rest. And he's only 41. If Brett Favre can do it and Jeff George thinks he can do it, I bet my man Elvis would love another shot with the Ravens. Come on, who's with me? <sarcasm>

I think the title of this thread is misleading, as to the purpose. Because immediately the title had me thinking " not another hate flacco thread " so I was surprise to see. A valid argument in support of flacco.

And it's impossible for people to name a replacement on here lol, even with the Replace D.Reed and Cundiff threads. They all seem to think a player gets cut we magically. Have a probowl free agent appear on the roster as a replacement. No one ever names possible replacements or reasons that these players would be better for the team.

I wish I had a magic wand, I really do.

I'd like to stick P.Manning, Eli, Cam Newton, Ryan, Brady, Brees into the AFCN division for a season. For all the haters, yes, they can have our defense. But....here's the catch....they also have to take Cam and our receiving corps. Yeah. Like to see what they'd do.

It is only my opinion I know, but I just think here in the AFCN we need a different type of QB. All those gaudy numbers would be nice for Joe but it isn't what this division nor this team are about.

Fact, Flacco is not a leader, plays scared, & is not getting any better.
Sorry to say but it's a fact.
But the main problem is our coaching & ability to draft and/ or pick up play makers. Rice, Leach, & Boldin are the only playmakers we have acquired in past 4 years that make a difference. That's not enough to be a SB type team.

You can't just say "fact" and have that make an opinion a fact. Ha, funny! While I may or may not agree with you, what you've stated is an opinion, not fact!

To be honest I think Joe is waiting to he gets his pay day before he becomes a vocal leader type guy. It happens more often then people think it does. If Joe had a new contract he would speak out more. He is in that same stage ray rice is in and Ngata was in. He really can't speak out against the coach or the play calling too much because he and his agent dont want flacco to be named as a malcontent which ownership will use as a tool to pay less. Most guys in contract years say nothing or watch what they say.

Dickson Torry Pitta have made a difference in plenty of games also I would say Mckinnie Grubbs Birk and Yanda are difference makers

100% Agree with everything above. Though to sarcastically play along with this thread I have some suggestions,

- Trade Our Whole Draft and Joe to Indy for the # 1 Pick and Andrew Luck
- Re-sign Troy Smith
- Start Tyrod Taylor
- Trade for Matt Flynn(Packers backup QB)
- Give up a bunch of picks for Peyton Manning
- Tank the Entire 2012 Season to get Matt Barkley in the 2013 Draft

I believe that covers every idea possible people would bring up on how to replace Joe. Oh wait... send the whole team to a certain city for a certain Quarterback who shall not be named, then send Harbaugh to BWI Airport to pick him up and get him to come to Baltimore.

But Flacco hasn't fulfilled all of my wildest dreams! What's the point of watching if you don't have an "elite" QB that throws for 5,000 yards? I thought stats were the #1 goal.

Would you care to explain to me then how we had a better defense and running back in 2002 and 2004 and still missed the playoffs?

If Joe can't lead us to a victory over the Bengals next week I really think we need to give Tyrod Taylor a shot in the playoffs. We would play either the Broncos or the Raiders in the 1st round and I think he could lead us to a victory over either of those two teams.

Anybody is better than Joe.

I for one think we should employ the QB carousel again and comb through guys like: Kyle Boller, Elvis Grbac, Tony Banks, Chris Redman, Kordell Stewart, Anthony Wright, Trent Dilfer, Jeff Blake, Aging Steve McNair, Stoney Case, Randall Cunningham, Eric Zeier, Troy Smith, and Scott Mitchell.

Yea we'll get a guy right away, and he'll lead us to 4 Super Bowls. 4 playoffs appearances is unacceptable.

In fact we should go out next year and lose all of our games to give us a better shot. And hopefully we don't get a guy like Matt Leinhart or Ryan Leaf that will set our franchise back even farther.

Wait a minute. You know what? We really don't have it that bad!
