With David Reed Done For The Year...

59 posts in this topic

It really doesn't matter what WR is suggestion undoubtly someone will. Say he sucks or is finished/ washed up etc.

In reality Moss would be fine because we don't have WRs run routes in middle of field. I mean that's one of Qs strengths and we barely utilize him in middle of field if Moss was sent running fly patterns he would win the jump balls that lee Evans has been losing

Berrian would be okay. Because he would only be 4th type WR with good speed still. He doesn't need to be a game breaker.

While mason is familiar with team, offense, and Flacco ( I never had a problem with the team releasing him ) unfortunately our offense is built around the little 8 yd comebacks and 10 yd outs mason did so well... But mason still can't get seperation ( so it would be same old complaints )

T.Owens is physical enough to create some mismatches. And would be great redzone target ( but he would definitely add to our drops problem lol).

Mason is sitting on his couch itching for a phone call from the Ravens. our front office may need to consider making that call. Mason is a proven veteran and the master of the sideline comeback routes. he is Flacco's ole' trusty go to guy to bail him out of jams. he knows the system and i believe that his journeyman's stint with the Jets and Texans have humbled him and that he would love an opportunity to come back to baltimore and retire a Raven. it may be time to welcome back the Ravens "prodigal" son. bring Mason home!

Its about time somebody did....

Haha but I would be fine with Derrick Mason. I too can't see Boldin coming back healthy by the playoffs.

Mason had a contract and the Ravens were the very first team to cut players

Would Mason even want to come back? Prideful player, how would you feel if your boss sacked you to save money and then wanted you back on minimum salary

You'll say "just business" but then fans label a player who holds out as greedy, a bit of a double standard

A messy situation

Depends. Was he hurt or disappointed to be released? There's a big difference in the two emotions. I don't really think he's bitter. He's been saying nice things about our team and Flacco. Plus, given his treatment at the hands of the Jets and Texans, I think he'd jump at the chance to finish his career on a high note.

Not sure. I do not see this injury hurting us at all. Just depends on what our coaching staff and front office feel we need the most.

Twice Torrey Smith had his man beat badly and on the first one Flacco badly under threw him, fortunately Torrey got an interference call on that one....in the second half Torrey blew by his man on the left sideline and had a TD if Flacco hits him in stride.....Flacco again delivers a horrible pass that calls for Torrey to make a miracle catch. It would help if Flacco would hit his receivers IN STRIDE WHEN THERE WIDE OPEN streaking down the sideline.

sorry, the receivers have dropped some for sure....but Flacco has been terrible of late.

Thats what happens when a guy has had slowass recievers for most of his career.

Its time to get Doss and L. Williams alot more reps before the playoffs. Williams looked good at KR in the preseason.

DERRRRRRRRICKKKKKKKKKK MASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSonnnnnnnnnnnn

People will disagree but I would love to have him around for Bengals game and Playoffs. He is the first down king. He is the guru of the comeback route to the sticks. He is swagalicious. And some of you actually liked him a long, long time ago (August). Think he could help this offense.

i Couldn't agree more. He puts up Anquans Numbers anyway. Nevermind the return game and David Reed.

That is all Flacco has been doing is overthrowing or underthrowing the deep ball, minus one or 2 a game. In todays case, Ray Rice. He needs to concentrate on putting the ball where it needs to be when it needs to be there
Most of Flacco's underthrows to Torrey are because no human can possibly throw the ball that far. WR to QB connections are supposed to take years to develop, and Joe's had only months. He's clearly still used to guys at Anquan or Mason's speed, which is why when Q goes deep Joe usually hits him spot on, but Torrey's speed makes his position harder to anticipate.

I have to disagree with most of you especially the one poster who said he is used to throwing to slower receivers. He's had all year to adjust. On the long routes he needs to throw sooner, let the receiver run under the ball not have them wait for it.

There's no time for a learning curve here...Mason hands down. Oh and release Reed after the season. He's done nothing this year . He is our best returner but man oh man this guy has been snake-bit this year.

I think T.O would be a great decoy! Hey if he can catch some balls once in a while would be good. Flacco doesnt need a ton of accuracy to get T.O the ball...just saying.

We got that guy Emmanuel Sanders from the Jets. He is a KRS.

Who? The only Emanuel Sanders I know of is a Steeler...

Reed getting hurt , is going to hurt us in S.Teams. He was our Top Gunner, always the 1st or 2nd guy to the K.Returner.

But yea, i think after this yr, the Ravens are going to cut their losses, maybe he will blow up as a receiver on another team. Dude was,is fast as heck.

Tom Zbi Looks Liek A Pretty Boy On Kickoffs , I Say Give Laquan A Chance .
I would agree with you on that but i think we need him more for our Offense, he is our number 2,number 3 guy right now. And if Boldin doesnt return which is very probable. (minor knee surgery or not, 2 weeks is not enough time to recover, he might heal but i doubt he will be able to run)

I think Laq. is our next man up for our WRers. Just need to throw it to him

So with Reed on IR, who gets signed to take his spot? A WR? I think we should promote Justin Boren from the practice squad - our OL NEEDS depth right now.

Just thinking outloud here...another WR might not be a bad idea looking at the importance of this upcoming game, due to the plague of drops and because of the injuries sustained in the Browns game I don't want to see our two TE's unnecessarilly targeted and put in a position to risk injury because they are over utilized in the Bengals game...we need them healthy for the playoffs. If this season has shown us anything, it is that anything is possible in the NFL...who would have guessed that we would have racked up 4 major injuries in that game Saturday? And, that isn't counting the players we have currently that aren't at 100%. Mason may be the only short term viable option at this point. At least he has fresh legs.
But then again, with Gurode in for Yanda we are getting pretty thin on the O-line depth and that is scaryyyy!

Derrick Mason! believe or not, but Dmase could probably achieve more in 1 game then what Lee Evans has in 1 season as a Raven.

Plus a 4 WR set Boldin, Mason, T.Smith, Evans is not bad at all. What a great way to spread out a defense!

Also if anyone, ti would be mason who can walk in, still play, and not have to relearn the offense or regain chemistry with Joe.

Idk, I'd really like to see someone punch cam.
But, I'm not feeling all the "get Mason post" he's just too slow anymore. I'd rather see the rookies get the targets.

i dont see giving up on reed he has made an impact on special teams and adds depth at the reciever position like what was said above he has always been the first guy down to cover punts and kickoffs thats valuable to me i say keep him besides the two game stretch (fumbles) he has been a pretty solid kick returner.

I said it early about not wanting Mason back on the active roster; since Evans went cold and got shutdown by the Browns when Torrey were double teamed all day, I think signing Mason is the best temporary option.

Mason can come in and contribute right away in the slot reciever opposite Torrey; I think it's bolded well in the slot cuz Torrey is truely a deepthreat which opens up alot things on 1 on 1 coverage. Mason kills most of the good DB on 1 on 1 coverage.

PS: I just hope this Sunday, Tandon Doss will show up in Boldin slot cuz we need young gunner to step up.
