With David Reed Done For The Year...

59 posts in this topic

Who do we pick up to take over his roster spot?

Do we pick up a WR, since his injury leaves us with 4 on the roster (3 being rookies)

OR

Do we pick up a KR/gunner to take his spot on special teams?

Personally, I'd like to see us pick up Bernard Berrian. Nothing flashy, but nothing too bad either. I feel like the KR/gunner position can be filled internally. Thoughts?

Berrian is washed up. He fell off a cliff after '08.

I could see the team signing a free agent, but it will probably be one more to fill Reed's position on the special teams coverage units.

DERRRRRRRRICKKKKKKKKKK MASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSonnnnnnnnnnnn

People will disagree but I would love to have him around for Bengals game and Playoffs. He is the first down king. He is the guru of the comeback route to the sticks. He is swagalicious. And some of you actually liked him a long, long time ago (August). Think he could help this offense.

Mase wouldn't be a bad option. I was hoping Evans would show up but sadly he didn't. I think Q2 will return kicks.

Zibby is fine on returns. Not explosive but has good hands and can get a half decent return.

Anyone calling for Moss or anyone else, really? They wouldn't have time to learn our offense and actually be a productive addition. Mason is really the only logical answer. Sorry, but I really don't see Boldin coming back 100% for the playoffs and I think we learned today that we need someone who can come in and produce if necessary.

Nah I'd stick with the Diesel package. Use Pitta in the slot more especially against zone coverages. The two TEs are a big part of the future of the offense, you live and die by them.

It would be nice for Lee Evans to do something. Seriously do something next week vs the Bengals, step up, make a play. You are not doing anything as the #1 receiver. Watching the Lions vs Chargers game made me realize how much Flacco doesn't have at receiving core (and playcalling...Cam). These guys are making their QBs look great with great separation and some excellent jump ball catches. When does Flacco get either?

Would love to see what Doss can do.

I saw him trying to chase down Cribbs on his TD return. Did anyone see him take a snap on offense?

Yeah the pass that was underthrown, and he kind of had to dive for. Didn't catch it though. But i was at the game, and as far as i saw he was only in for a few plays.

But to answer the question, im with a few of the other guys on this one, wouldn't mind having Mason back now. With Boldin and Reed both out for the Bengals game. I'm sure we would IR Reed if he's done. Just a matter of if they actually want another WR, or just some o-line depth or something.

Well we need someone who can come in and immediately contribute. Mason is the best option since him and joe are on the same page and you know the offensive scheme hasnt changed. AT ALL EVER. We need someone to contribute next week and maybe further. If we pick a WR this late it has to be someone who can just slide in with no learning curve. No other options. Thats it.

Mason or Moss are low risk and have a chance to actually find a niche on our team for the playoff run. I say Mason because of familiarity with the offense and Joe. Mason has good hands.. can't stand to watch anymore easy drops.

Well he was cut by the Texans after he dropped a couple passes...

We'll probably end up just promoting someone from the PS or something not very headline-worthy.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I don't wish pain on anyone but I am still unhappy with David Reed.

Also not very helpful. I'll be disappointed to the max in the FO if this is the "fix" they attempt. Too many drops by the youngsters today to rely on yet another youngster. We need an experienced vet in there that has the best chance of contributing and helping right away. Mason is the only clear answer for our WR woes. Boldin is not going to jump right back in at 100% and anyone thinking that he will is just dreaming. I had hoped Evans could step up but it didn't happen.

Mason would be the best option if we wanted a legitimate fix. If Moss is in shape (and that's a big if), I'd give him a shot. Even if all he does is run the go route, people are going to have to put someone on him. Now that would be a great story. The Ravens sign the "washed up" Randy Moss, and he turns into '07 Randy and plays lights out in the playoffs, and we win the Superbowl. Then he offers to resign for the veteran minimum if we can Cam. (That last part is really far-fetched, I know, but hey, it's my dream scenario, so I'll include it). But I don't know if I trust Randy to have kept in game shape when he didn't like to do it even when he was playing.

I would like to be the voice of reason, and suggest that there is a reason that we didn't resign Mason, the Jets traded him, and now the Texans have cut him. There has to be some sort of reason for that... Hmmm.....

He's done. No offense to him, but it seems he doesn't have any gas left. If two and a half (Jets ;)) playoff caliber teams teams have deemed him expendable, he must not have that much left.

Twice Torrey Smith had his man beat badly and on the first one Flacco badly under threw him, fortunately Torrey got an interference call on that one....in the second half Torrey blew by his man on the left sideline and had a TD if Flacco hits him in stride.....Flacco again delivers a horrible pass that calls for Torrey to make a miracle catch. It would help if Flacco would hit his receivers IN STRIDE WHEN THERE WIDE OPEN streaking down the sideline.

sorry, the receivers have dropped some for sure....but Flacco has been terrible of late.

I don't normally agree with your over the top negative approach to everything, but I agree 100% here!!!

That is all Flacco has been doing is overthrowing or underthrowing the deep ball, minus one or 2 a game. In todays case, Ray Rice. He needs to concentrate on putting the ball where it needs to be when it needs to be there
