Will Lee Evans Step Up To The Plate?

72 posts in this topic

With Anquan out for two weeks,it's time for Lee to step up.

He has the talent but will it happen? we will really need him against Cincy
to step up as they may be fighting for a playoff spot.

Let me know what you think.

I think Lee will answer the call just fine. He has shown he can still get separation, make great sideline catches, and run crisp routes when called upon. Last week he could have had a TD after blowing by the corner, but Joe under threw him. With his increased role this week, everyone will be a witness to the gem we brought from Buffalo.

I think the better question to ask is: Will Cam allow for Evan to "step-up"? Will Joe make the best decisions to utilize Lee? We'll see, right? It's hard to say, really. Joe isn't the kind of QB you watch and say "Yeah, yeah this particular wide-out is going to have a good week as number 1 under our QB." Sorry, not trying to be the "Flacco Hater" but Joe just isn't the guy you really trust thoroughly to get his recievers the ball; however, he certainly has the ability. Just depends on which Joe shows up to play. It also depends on which playcaller shows up. The Cam that pounds the ball and then opens the pass, or the cam the comes out guns blazing...embarrassing himself (San Diego).

He better, I don't want to witness another night of dink and dump to Rice for no gain. With an established run, lets see some good play action to evans and smith.

I honestly think he will.

Evans and Flacco showed some good chemistry in the pre-season. Now that he'll be seeing the field much more, I think we'll start seeing some of that pre-season stuff again.

It's unfortunate that the best Lee Evans play came in the pre-season. He did have a very crucial 3rd down conversion in the 49ers game however.

I'd say he will. Given his production with several misfit QBs in bills, i know he can get yards. Its week15 and we are really getting desperate to see the 'x-factor' that we direly need in order to beat the best. I think Evans will show up. At least more than he has ever done past previous games.

Joe said himself in that chargers game that he needs to just let it fly for Lee. the question is will Cam give Lee the opportunities to make plays?

I remember when it was reports that you guys was thinking about getting Steve Smith and some on this board said the man was washed up and old.... MAN.. I wish you guys did take him out of the NFC South.. The guy is a MONSTER (3rd in the league at receiving yards and average 18 yards a catch) ...

With league Evans.. I think he can step up for you guys... The only problem i see is that he is a good #2 WR when healthy.. Some knock Boldin speed/separation but when its time to make a play... He has been there to take that tough down the middle catch that #1s make... I want to see will Evans and Torrey make that tough catch.

I think you guys will be alright... Just have to run the ball and playaction to those speedy WR's deep (similar to philly)

Let's be serious, No one thought Steve Smith would bounce back the way he did. Looking back trading for him probably would have been nice, but at the time he looked like a pricy malcontent.

I think Lee will step up when called on. He is more than just a speed guy too. Lee is a great route runner with excellent hands and with him and Torrey thats a lot of speed on the field as well. To be honest though, I think our offense will probably run through the TEs.

I think he will.

Was just thinking about this. I think the Ravens will have a lot of designed plays to get the ball in Lee's hands. Get him feeling more involved as we head into the playoffs. Lee is saying he is as close to 100% as ever. So he could be a real asset if we can get him into the groove of our offense.

So yes. I am now expected a big game from Lee.

Um. ...A lot depends on Cam. I think he has no choice but to use him. Remember how he used Stallworth once he was healthy?

Oh no not the reverse. Say it ain't so. End around's all day.

Yes sir. He treated Stallworth like a water boy once he was healthy.

never understood the hate for the endarounds. They picked up like 15 yards every time. Even the time we did back to back endarounds to opposite sides we picked up big yardage each time.
If the only time Torrey touched the ball was on an endaround , and every endaround involved Torrey , we'd all be hating them this year too. That's the way it was , pretty much , with Stallworth , so it left a bit of a bad taste.

They should not be overused but rather drilled incessantly in practice for surprise element in big situations. You do not want to injure valuable receivers before the playoffs. Lee Evans is finally back after a long absence and we need Torrey Smith and Anquan at 100% also. It is time to get Laquan Williams the ball also/

Obviously, Evans came to us as damaged goods. We have invested a lot of time and patience in his recovery for what needs to be his role from here on out through the rest of the season.

Come on Lee Baby! Time to step up!
