these next couple games are a great chance to get evans in the mix and get some young wrs some snaps specially Doss imo
[/quote]

That's the thing though. Browns' run D is pretty bad so we should focus on running. The injury here could change our game plan because I really don't want to go into Cincy with untested receivers, even if they are the #3 guy. One injury could turn that game ugly for us if that's the case. IMO we should use the Browns game to get these guys some in-game experience prior to heading for Cincy.

I rather get Brett Favre for our playoff run. Yes he will throw picks but he will also throw touchdowns....haha

Seriously though, Boldin and Joe aren't exactly Mason and Joe 2 years ago. The Rapport has not been there and your number 1 guy shouldn't have 5 games with just 1 or 2 catches...Mason to the sticks was a 1st down every time!

I'd rather see Doss on the field more.

Id rather see Kindle on the field too but the reason neither one of them will see any playing time is because they aren't ready. Doss got passed by Laquan Williams.

We will run a lot of Two Tight End sets with 2 wide outs i think. But then again its, the browns...I would just run a 6th lineman and 3 Tight ends, one in the slot and just cram it down their throats the whole game.

Your offensive strategy may work against the Browns but it won't work against the Marvin Lewis coached Bengals. We need a slot receiver to go along with two wide receivers. Bring back Mason!!!!!!!!!!!! Huh?????? The poll is starting to gain momentum in that direction but I'm afraid the organization will wait until its too late. Those people voting for bringing Mase back aren't voting to sign him for 1 day so that he can retire a Raven. They're voting YES because we need a proven veteran with great hands who can help us win the Lombardi trophy. Even if Anquan Boldin returns, he won't be ready to go at full speed in the playoffs and he'll be rusty. Why wouldn't Mason retire as a Tennessee Titan anyway?

I want a run heavy attack the next 2 weeks while getting Evans, Torrey, Williams, and maybe even Doss more involved. Also, pass to the TEs more.

Get the bye week so Boldin can rest before the weekend of Jan. 14th-15th Divisional game.

No. Not that I want Anquan Boldin to be out, but this is the perfect opportunity for receivers like veteran Lee Evans, TEs Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson, David Reed, LaQuan Williams, and Tandon Doss to get more involved and for Torrey Smith to get more practice. Derrick Mason created firestorms with QB Joe Flacco and the coaches while he was here. He was a complainer. No. But again, the number one receiver should not have four games where he has no more than two catches. Evans is our decoy. Boldin is very physical and strong, but can be be a consistent #1? Ray Rice is more involved in passing at times. I still said no because of Mason's ego and the young guys I want to get involved. Plus there's no way I'm gonna cut someone like LaQuan to make room for him. (Oh and this thread made the front page of the site!)

It would be nice to have a receiver who didn't drop the ball constantly. I would love to have Mason again. He actually has chemistry with Joe and knows how to open up to Joe when the play breaks down. We've seen most of what Lee Evans and LaQuan Williams bring to the table, and it's certainly not as much as our old #1. He doesn't have to be in there every down, but he would definitely contribute while he's there. If you want to give our backups a chance, don't sign him. But if you want to win the Super Bowl, he'd be a good option. Sorry but Evans isn't going to suddenly break out with 30 catches these last few games.

i hope we see tandon this weekend.

some guys in here said that he is too similar to bolding. now that boldin is out there is no reason he shouldn't get on the field...

After witnessing the debacle that is the Ravens passing game yesterday I believe more than ever this team needs a wide reciever with good hands. Thanks god for PI a penalty and Ray Rice or this team would have gotten beat.

I have to admit that I voted no, but after yesterday's game (2 completed passes to WRs) I'm leaning in the other direction now. Mason would know the system, so he could step in right away and he'd be able to take a step back and not be used as much in the playoffs once Boldin gets back.

i remember saying some thing about this situation 3 weeks ago....... we should have added t.o. and mason to the ravens because it will open everything up outside and middle........of the field believe t.o. and mason is ready. are we trying to win it all? or we happy with being division leader....... i want it all i still have an eating pain in my stomach and im ready eat up ever thing thats stands in our way our record means nothing when we enter the play-offs.

Should the Ravens re-sign D-Mase as insurance for playoff run? Him and Joe had great chemistry, and Boldin has disapeared the past few games, seemingly only Torrey and Tight ends can get open/balls...

I would rather bring back Quadry Ismail!

That would be a horrible idea, because then we wouldn't hear his commentary on the broadcasts and I love that!

It is as obvious as the nose on my face. We need to bring back a WR who can hold on to the ball in the clutch. Dropped passes in key situations almost cost us another game. Dixon should have caught one of the dropped passes if for no other reason than self defense. The interception in the end zone was Joe's fault as was the underthrow on the pass to Torrey. Thankfully, PI was called on the deep throw to Torrey. Despite the pic, I do expect a veteran WR to fight for the ball when he knows the defender is going to intercept it. He did finally get his hands on the ball and tried to wrestle it away from the defender but he should have knocked it away. Kudos to Joe, Ed, Torrey and Shayne (sp?). Lee Evans was again invisible. Anyone who thinks the Browns have as good a chance to beat Pittsburgh as the Bengals have at beating us is sadly mistaken. The Bengals will be playing for the final playoff spot. The Browns will be going through the motions and hoping not to get hurt. After seeing the replay of Simpson doing his forward flip into the endzone and hitting the landing for a 10, it could be a long day if we don't match their intensity as someone has already suggested. I am not optimistic given our propensity to self destruct and our failure to make good halftime adjustments. The offense and defense played well for the first 30 minutes yesterday. As usual, the special teams were not too "special" save for DR's lone return. If we are to win, it will take some heroics by our defensive backs and the game will be decided by a Shayne Graham field goal. Let's all pray for a six game sweep of our Divisional games. How sweet that would be! Good luck, men!!!!

If D. Reed goes to IR, then we should resign Mason. He knows our system, has chemistry with Joe, and would easily pick up the offense. Reed is our 4th WR anyway, so it wouldn't be a big deal. He would bring some consistency.

Sign Mase get this done now. He is every bit as good as Anquan even at this point in his career. Forget him replacing David Reed. We need him to replace Anquan, or we are sunk.

Even though Boldin has been having statistically one of his worst years in his career, this past game made it obvious just how much of an impact he has on the Ravens passing game. He takes the top CB and occupy's him, he gets his share of the receptions, but more importantly he's able to free up other receivers so they can get their receptions.

I voted yes when the poll was posted, I stand by my vote after Sunday's second half debacle. Mason would bring an automatic familiarity to the receiving corps. We know him, he knows us. Sounds like a win-win to me!!!

mark my words, ozzie will sign D-mase before the bengels game, we can't go in playoffs with injured bolden, plus somebody got to replace d-reed spot, i think mason will be a very good slot wr, who always used to find soft spots of defenses
