I admit that other than when he played vs us with the Jets I have not seen Mason play this season. I think the Jets made him a scapegoat for other issues but you know, I guess I got used to his outspoken ways when he was here.

I don't know. It just makes me very nervous to go on the road to the Bengals with no real veteran presence in our receiving corps, not to mention the playoffs. I just don't see how Q comes back 100% by then.

I can respect that feeling as its a fear most of us have. But bringing Mason or a new receiver in week 16 isn't going to do very much. I can probably agree that if we were to bring a guy in. It would probably be Mase. Simply because he knows the offense and has played football recently. But I can't see the teams bringing in another guy UNLESS they truly expect Boldin to be out longer.

Mason's last game was against the Texans in week 14. And he had zero zip on his breaks (something he had last year). Even with Andre Johnson out, they decided to part ways. That Mason we remember is no more.

Well, 2 things here.

We'd better use the Browns' game (at least some) to get these guys up to speed whether it be Doss/Williams/D. Reed.

And Q better be pulling a Ray Lewis and be on the sidelines coaching up these youngsters!

I don't even know how much more of those guys we are going to see. I fully expect to see a heavy, heavy dose of the Diesel package. Pitta probably in the slot with Dickson working the TE. Both of these guys can make plays with their hands, something that should add stability to a lineup missing Boldin.

We'll probably see one of those young WRs worked in on limited work. My Guess is LaQuan. Doss seems to be the fan favorite.

yeah Doss is a fan favorite. LaQuan seems more likely however.

I like LaQuan. Seems to track the ball well and fight for it. In the little he's seen action, he seems to have a knack for knowing where the markers are, first downs and sidelines, and making catches count. Haven't seen enough of Doss to make a judgement there.

Housh & Donte may not be All Pros but we could sure use them now. Housh was cut due to a knee-jerk reaction for dropping one pass in a critical situation and I'm not sure why Donte wasn't re-signed but he's having a helluva year for the Redskins who beat the Giants on Sunday. Thinking Doss or Laquan can come in and be the #2 WR is laughable with their lack of game experience. I'd take any of the three back in a heartbeat. If you can't understand that this is the same thing that we are going through with our kicker, you just don't get it. Next man up or not, they will have to sign someone. To respond to Moderator #3's question, the answer is David Reed. If his confidence wasn't totally destroyed before the Chargers game, the job was now completed by the Special Teams Coach and Coach Harbaugh (former ST Coach) who wouldn't put David back into the game until it was out of hand.

Housh getting cut wasn't a knee-jerk reaction. And Stallworth has 16 catches for 242 yards and a TD. That's a "helluva" year?

Neither Doss nor LaQuan will be the #2. Evans and Smith will be the top two WRs.

I don't think it's guaranteed a WR will be signed. And I don't see why Reed would be cut or how his confidence would be shot after Sunday either. He got an opportunity and did something with it. He may well get another shot at returning kicks.

What a horrible game that was. Two touchdowns taken off the board by penalties, the Mason drop, Cousins imploding and a key interception getting called back because of Frank Walker.
I thought that was because of Sizzle? A block in the back I think. Whatever though, Frank Walker it is! :)

We're not THAT desperate. lol
Yea. Maybe if Torrey, Lee and Anquan all went down the same game lol. We didn't trade for Lee for nothing. It's time for him to step up, and I think he will.

Sizzle's block in the back brought back Foxworth's pick six. But a Walker penalty wiped out a Zbikowski interception as well.

Really people? Really?

No. We dont need to bring in Mase. He was a great player for us for several years, but he is well past his prime and we have some young guys who can step into a 3rd WR role just fine.

Q will be back for the playoffs. Its just a minor injury, and in the meantime we will see a lot of 2 TE sets and maybe a little Doss and David Reed sprinkled in.

Oh wow! I remember that. I knew Foxworth had a pick 6 and it was called back, but I just now remember Ben throwing it to Zibby near the end of the game I believe. Funny. Frank Walker is still screwing up in Dallas.

Huh! The poll seems to be changing wrt bringing back Mason! I hope Ed_Reed20 is right about Evans and Reed stepping up but I don't have much confidence in either of them. I'm not from Missouri but you still need to show me. Its time for both of them to step up to the plate or get out of the batters box.

I hate to be the guy that bashes Flacco all the time but who ever is our 3rd WRer will have not a career here. Our QB looks at our 1st and 2nd WRers then he dumps off to Ray Rice, Our QB uses our 3rd WRers as a decoy...... Now watch somebody say he doesnt have time to throw the ball because of the OFs line even though he lead the league last year in sacks for holding the ball more then 3 seconds.

....... Or its because they say our 3rd WRers never gets open. Last year it was our receivers never got open because they where old now its there to young I guess.(sarcasm)

Does anyone else think that Evans can make 5-6 catches and a TD against the Browns? Let's go with Dickson and Pitta in 2 TE sets. I'd throw to Smith a few times too. Mainly, we need to run 2 out of every 3 plays and see how that develops.

Well we dont really run many 3 WR sets, at least this year we havent. The TEs have really become that 2nd or 3rd option instead of a 3rd WR. Last season Housh was the 3rd WR and he had a decent season in that role.

Or they say the truth, that we hardly ever run 3 WR sets.

Derrick Mason is one of my all time favorite receivers. He is a great route runner and a true leader. He may not be the fastest or the best, but his route running allows him to get some separation. He fits into our system.

That being said, he shouldn't be in our future plans unless Boldin is out for the playoffs and another receiver gets hurt.

Start Evans and Smith. Two burners isn't a bad thing. Have a possession man in the slot - That's your queue Tandon Doss. The guy had a great preseason. I think it's time we give him a chance to show what he's got. At the beginning of the season I would have told you Doss is better than Smith.

Glad to know that we have more than one rookie receiver that is a weapon.

Wow, there sure are a lot of 'Yes's'. Why, besides 'loyalty' to a guy who was a good player for us? Stop wearing purple glasses people; Mason was cut from here and two other teams because flat out - he doesn't have 'it' anymore. Just admit that fact, acknowledge that people who say that aren't 'haters' or detractors of what Mason did for this team and move on. We need to put our young guys in the game and see what they can do. Going older isn't going to help us, we need to stick to our gameplan of getting younger. Let's get Doss in there, let's get Williams in there, let's win these next two games like Ravens - next man (men) up.

You guys are amazing. We don't have one receiver on this team that knows this offense better than Mase. Including Anquan. Now if he is healthy and can still produce i agree with the signing. ( Joe getting Mason back) would be like charlie brown giving linus his blanket back.

Right now Flacco is the check down king RR leads the team in receptions this is ridiculous.

I would think Ozzie/Harbaugh would at least entertain the idea. Not likely, no, but not the most unrealistic thing that anyone has ever suggested.

he has chemistry with joe, not so much with no-name QBs from Houston and Mark Sanchez, who has chemistry with none of his current receivers. Thats what he has to offer the Ravens that he can't offer any other team: Instant chemistry.

Bring him in for the last 2 games until Boldin comes back and then let him retire a Raven. We only need him UNTIL Boldin comes back. Also Evans isn't doing anything worthwhile anyways. A clutch catch here and there isn't as good as Mason's route savvy abilities.
