I don't know about you, but if I was Norv I'd want to wait for the playoff teams to offer me a job....

Playoff teams usually have better talent and would therefore give Norv a better opportunity to win games.
But he would also have to weigh the odds of actually getting a job from one of those teams. Usually they're more established and thus are less likely to have any coordinator turnover. If he passes on the non-playoff teams, then those positions might be filled by the time he finds out that all the playoff teams are going to stick with their coordinators. So he could go from being the top hire at the position to not having a job at all very easily.

As much as most of us like to think it'll happen, it's not a given that Cam is going to get fired after this season. Which means if Norv does wait around for the Ravens job, he could miss out on the Jets job, or another coordinator position on a potential contender that just missed the playoffs this year.

I agree, and also, he has been at San Diego for a while, I wouldn't be surprised for him to take it slow, look around for where he wants to work, which city, which organization, what coaches he'll be around. He won't want to rush into it and take a job at a hard to win place like...say st.louis or the browns. Hopefully he wants to regain the leagues trust in him as a good coach and where better to do that than to turn Joe Flacco into a 30+ TD a year 4000 yard QB. Completely rehaul the Ravens offense into a scoring machine.

This performance would get heads turning in his direction again, and he could revive his career. But take a job at a St.Louis or Jacksonville or Cleveland or Kansas City and he could remain a loser, and a lower paid coach for a while.

@Mahatma_Sloth: I saw you were getting negged for every post you made regardless of content. So i got rid of the red for you, at least for a while. I like you. You have balls.

Anyways, opinions! Sloth pretty much the only person here who is not drinking the Can Cam kool-aid. I'll admit, was downing it in large servings every Sunday all season. But Sloth raised a number of great points supported by statistics. Statistics that some of the cam-haters (myself included) oftentimes lack.

While it is easy to see an overly conservative game, such as against the Browns in week 16, or one that utilizes players in the wrong ways or not at all, see jags and seahawks, it is just as easy to forget some of the great playcalling that has helped us get to our current 11-4 record this season. The playcalling vs. Arizona and Pittsburgh in both games was fine, especially at Heinz field. The playcalling at Jacksonville was awful. Cam has had his moments of brilliance and his moments of temporary retardation.

There are a couple issues, objectively speaking, with demanding Cam's head, pitchfork and torch in hand. The first is that the 'problem' with our offense may not be directly related to our OC. We have lots of new players and lots of drops. This has lead to a scarily inconsistent offense and with another year, we might reach our potential on offense.

The second issue is that a new OC, such as Norv Turner, would make the system any better. Say we bring in Norv next year, and we continue to struggle on offense. Joe continues to regress, we drop a lot of passes, and our receivers don't show much progression. Do we regret bringing in a new OC with a new system? In other words, is there any guaranteeing that the grass is greener on the other side? Remember, we have perennial playoff team and it's not just because of our defense or Ray Rice's amazing talent.

As a conclusion, i'm not saying that Cam is an amazing OC and that firing him would be a mistake. I'm saying that credit needs to be given where it is due, accomplishments need to be recognized, and that there is much to be considered before the front office makes a decision about our future of offensive coordination.

Norv probably won't be coming here. The Jets want him and they have a negotiating head start on us to get him. Their season is over while ours is still going strong.

Charger fan here, hello everyone! Good luck in the Post Season. I was wondering if you have a link to this story? I can't really find it anywhere.

How long until Norv is off the market? I mean I bet he will be a hot commodity as a Offensive Coordinator and could be picked up quickly by some non-playoff team.

Thats my fear....we are in the playoffs and non playoff teams will be negotiating with him. Couldn't our FO talk to him without the current OC knowing when he hits the market?

Well this could be bad news for not just us but anyone who wants Norv. Phillip Rivers is lobbying to keep Norv Turner as Head Coach in San Diego.

I believe that if the Ravens plan on hiring Norv Turner or have any interest, Norv would know it. Cam Cameron has not been bad, though. If Cam gets fired, I believe it's because of the problems in the locker room and the rumored discord between Cam and offensive players. Cam has done well to help us get to the playoffs for four years. He may be doing something right. Remember, some of the games we lost weren't just on the coordinator. That Seattle game was arguably lost by our Special Teams who just flat-out played terrible.

I believe, though, that if Norv is a target, he will be here.

Of course Rivers wants Norv back, he throws for 4,000 yards and 25 TDs every season. Never mind the fact that with the wealth of talent they have and the division they play in they should be in the playoffs every year.

It's mind boggling how they don't just own that division, two years in a row they don't make the playoffs. If Rivers doesn't fumble the snap in KC, they win the division. Hey, any time we feel tortured and bewildered by our team, we can always look west to San Diego.

Something tells me that Cam Cameron will stay with Baltimore next season. Maybe it's the 12-4 record, the AFC North title or the four consecutive winning seasons, each leading to the playoffs. But what's really funny is that we basically did all of this in spite of Cam. I'm not too sure if Harbaugh is smart enough to agree with me. Sigh.

Cam is so bad its unbelievable. Unfortuantly its real, but hopefully we get rid of him the second we win the superbowl. Naw that will probably be too harsh lol

It takes a while for management to catch up to how mediocre Norv really is as a head coach. He always did enough to save his job when he coached in Washington. Norv hung in there and tortured Skins fans for NINE years. UH!

But they're just bad, not flat out blowing it with a really good team and an easy division to play in. The Chargers did the same thing last year, very good team and stupid special teams mistakes. We lose our division when we go 11-5 or tie the Steelers at 12-4 and lose the tiebreaker. They can't go 9-7 in that division?

People think that Joe resigning with the Ravens is a lock. If he and cam dont get along or if the ravens dont pony up the Redskins, Seahawks, and a host of other teams will mark my words I think Joe wont be a raven after next season

I could seriously see that happening if Cam remains offensive coordinator and they don't hire a QB coach - and frankly, i'd support Joe's decision. It's been pretty clear to me that Cam doesn't do well with this much power, and that Joe is not overly fond of Cam's style. And in the end, Flacco should be looking out for his career and should be focused on how to make himself the best quarterback he can be. If he doesn't think it's with Cam, I see no reason for him to stay if Cam does.

Who cares if he and Cam don't get along. He's the franchise QB. There's no way in hell we keep Cam Cameron over Flacco because they don't see eye to eye. This would never happen... and the Ravens will more than likely not have to give Joe 10+ million a year, even if they do win the Super Bowl, so we won't exactly be breaking the bank for Joe to stay (which he will).

Well from what i understand players leave teams over coaches all the time and vice versus. Im not saying what the ravens will give Joe but I am saying if we win the superbowl some team somewhere in 2013 will pay flacco that 10+ a year. It happens with every position in football not just QB

I am not the biggest flacco supporter and I think he is an averag QB that benefited from a great defense. He has average numbers and numbers dont lie. Mike Vick is a good running back who can throw lol. HE got 17 million! its not unreal that joe a "franchise" QB would wnt 12 a year

Chargers may be leaning to keeping Norv, this is what President Dean Spanos said:
“It was really exciting,” Spanos said of Sunday’s win over the Raiders. “I’m really proud of them. I think it really shows how resilient they are, how hard they play for this coach.”
I will just point out that from something like week 3 onward last year Flacco was the second higest rated QB in the league behind Tom Brady. One season doesn't mean anything, except that this season, even having his worst season as a pro, he helped us sweep the division. And Flacco won't get 17 million. Somewhere between 7-10 is more reasonable.

Would love Norv here, but there are any number of qualified candidates out there that I feel would easily do better than Cam Cameron.
