I do not want Mike Martz here. He's another guy like Cam. Always trying to make the pieces fit the system. Not the system to the players.
Martz engineered "The Greatest Show on Turf." in St. Louis and won a Superbowl with that team.

Mike Sherman has already been contacted by the Bucs, and if he doesn't go to the Bucs, the dolphins are interested as well.

No thanks to Mike Martz, he's had 3 offensive coordinator jobs in the last 4-5 years. Like Pu said, he's basically Cam 2.0. He wouldn't help this team anymore than Cam would.

To be honest, if Cam does get canned, i would love to see what Wilbert Montgomery (our RB's coach) could do.

Mike Martz? Isn't he the guy that loves the 7 step drop and gets his QB sacked more than anyone else in the league? I will pass on that.
That was because the offensive lines stunk. John Kitna and Kurt Warner never had a problem. Right after the Lions fired him, because he scored too quickly, they wanted to run the ball, lol, they went 0 - 16. Martz was the only one on the team that knew what he was doing.

That statement is a little off base.. Detroit went 0-16 the year after they had martz and his last year with SF involved mike singletary.. Enough said there

Yeah i edited it, i basically meant that they are better off now without him, i know its been a few years and both teams have improved (coach and player wise).

Really? Thanks for the info. Martz is a great offensive mind, but 1 thing that gives me pause is he is well known for not utilizing TEs. We have two very talented TEs on our team and it would be a crime if we brought in a guy like Martz and he refused to feature them in our offense.

The QB's coach of the Pack? I know a lot of people were high on him or so I heard. Otherwise, I say we promote from within. An earlier post said Wilbert Montgomery and I wouldn't be opposed to that at all

Under Martz Chicago tight ends caught 61 passes and 12 TDs. We have a stable of very good receivers. What a shame not to use them. Martz has done great things with the passing game of every team he has worked for. Literally made a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

We dont really know if we have good receivers or not. We like to think there is some potential there, but no one on this team is at the talent level of Isaac Bruce or Tory Holt in their primes. Martz isnt exactly running a high powered passing offense in Chicago, their offense ran through Matt Forte. You didnt address my point about the TEs either. Martz doesnt use them.

Indeed. I edited my first response but too late. Chicago tight ends caught 61 passes with 12 touchdowns in 2011. My math was off a bit I first said 71.

Sorry, but I am gonna have to dispute those numbers. Chicago has 2 TEs on their roster: Kellen Davis and Matt Spaeth who finished with a combined 25 catches for 256 yards and 7 TDs. Mike Martz has never used TEs, in fact Chicago traded away their best TE, Greg Olsen, before the season started because Martz didnt need/want him.

Correct. I was wrong about Spaeth. I read his career total, 48, by mistake. He caught 7 passes in 2011. However I have followed Martz since St. Louis and his offense can put up 21 points on a bad day. Doesn't matter to me who scores them. Flacco is getting much better protection. You should know Lee Evans and Anquan Boldin.

Well I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that Cam Cameron is the answer. I would love to see Q and Lee more involved in the offense, but I think in reality they are declining players. Our best weapons on offense going forward are Ray Rice, Torrey, and our TEs. I dont think Martz would be a good fit, but I have nothing against him personally. He does have a proven track record, but like I said before it would be a shame if we brought him in here and he abandoned two of our best playmakers on offense because they dont fit his system.

ANYBODY that thinks Cam is the answer & Flacco the problem only needs to watch the Packers game from Sunday. THAT is what an OC does!! The schemes and game plan allowed for their no name QB to go bonkers! Cam was poison with Brees in SD, horrible in Miami, and mediocre here. When we get a competent OC as well as a QB coach we will then be an elite team & Joe an elite QB. So we've been to the playoffs 4 years in a row... remember the Buffalo Bills?!?!?

With Norv staying in SD, Kubiak leading the Texans to the playoffs that kills off everyone's wishlist. Let's be real here, if we finally get over the hump of making the Super Bowl and somehow stop either Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers and win, there is no way we'll get rid of him. Reality is, we'll be making the same Cam threads from last season in September when the new season is here.

What's funny is we'll probably win the Super Bowl because of our defense, and our offense besides Rice won't show up, but according to Harbaugh, "Cam called an excellent game. You couldn't ask for anything more. He's definitely in our future plans." Sigh. Whatever, I'm a Ravens fan all the way, just not a Cam fan.

SOOO with you brotha!! This is where I believe, EVEN if we win the Super Bowl, Biscuit says to Harbs, "Enough! I know he's your Daddy's pal and all, but ENOUGH!" The talent on this team is insanely incredible! Think of the Packers WITH a D if we had an OC!!! WOW!!! We'd be a dynasty for the next 8 years!

With Cam, we'll get to the playoffs and flop for the next 5 years a la Denver and Buffalo.

I mentioned in another thread Greg Knapp as an OC candidate. He is currently the QB coach for Houston, but has almost a decade of experience as OC for several teams. He was QB coach for the Niners and worked with Steve young before becoming their OC and helped Jeff Garcia to 3 straight Pro Bowl seasons. He also was OC at Atl, Sea, and Oak. I would really like to see a West Coast offense similar to what they run in Houston in the Shanahan/Kubiak mold.
