Maybe The Blowout Was A Blessing...

We do. But the head-to-head wouldn't count in a three way tie with the Patriots. One team would have to lose or win to both teams. That didn't occur, so the head-to-head is not applicable.

Then it goes to conference record. If the Patriots lose (they have two AFC games left). Their conference record would be 9-3. Ours 9-3. The Texans 10-2. Texans would have the #1 seed.
Well i see the TEXANS losing another, would that put us atleast in the 2nd seed. I just want home field advantage and a bye. Our team needs a bye.

We are tied. If its only us and them. Then yes. The head-to-head would apply and we have the tiebreaker over them.

What I am saying is we get into a three way tie with the Patriots and Texans again (assuming Pats lose). Texans now hold the tiebreaker with their Conference record (since they lost to a NFC team and we lost to a AFC team this week). The head-to-head would no longer apply in this situation.
Right here it shows us as the 2nd seed.

I will say that the loss is a mini blessing if we win out. I am not to worried about this week, but next week cincy will be fighting for a playoff spot and that scares that crap out of me.

Thanks, im driving up from florida. The hotel I was looking at is near airport. I knkw this is off topic, but any suggestions on any museums, historical spots, touristy spots??? Isnt there an aquarium there?
Cool, I am looking forward to coming home again for the game also.

Anyway, yeah, the aquarium is awesome as is walking around the inner Harbor. Someone mentioned DC and there is much more museums/monuments to check out than Baltimore.

If you like to party then go to Fell's Point, Canton, and Federal Hill areas. Power Plant area is full of meatheads but has plenty of parking. FYI - a lot of garages close and when I say close, they lock the gates for the night so if you are out and wander back to your car at 3 AM, you're stuck until they open which isn't early, haha.

Plus going in playoffs with 7 winstreak would been bad probably. We were bound to lose atleast it happened now and not in playoffs. I think because packers lost there more dangerous also

I am not saying that we are't gonna get the number 2 seed. I am saying that it is highly improbable to get the 1st seed.

Win out and we are assured the #2 seed no matter what the other teams do.

Everyone needs to stop worrying so much. We have two games left. We win those 2 games we are guaranteed #2. We drop one and forget it unless Pitt loses which isn't likely looking at the Rams and Browns.

Pats will run the table against Bills and Miami so forget it.

The way Big Ben is playing hurt, i think they might lose another one. I think they need to rest him for the play offs, they need to realize Ben is hurting them at this point. All well, let them be dumb.

If we had to lose the San Diego game was probably our best option for the final month. It humbled the players and set up a situation where they saw all their hard work going to pot with the Steelers sweeping in to collect up their leavings. (The Steelers are like cockroaches. Beat them twice and they STILL keep coming back to haunt us.) Losing so horribly on national TV and seeing your arch rivals have a chance to take over all you've worked for has a way of putting heads back on straight.

It's a lot harder to win every game and maintain momentum into a playoff. You get soft, counting on your laurels too much. But fail miserably once in a while and you stay focused.

In all the games this past month the ones that scared me the most were the Colts (because they were due for a win and we have bad karma with them at home) and Chargers (because they are a West Coast team and our players would be so far afield). We lost so now know exactly what we're playing for... No 2 seed, the AFC North Division, a bye week and a home playoff game.

The most monumental thing to me this past weekend is that the Steelers had a golden opportunity to backdoor their way into besting us and blew it, banging up their players in the process. We screwed up; they failed.

I hate to sound like a debbie downer, but there's been a thread saying this for every loss we've had. When is the team gonna take advantage of this "blessing" that they have now received four times? When will they learn? I thought Tennessee was a fluke. I thought Jacksonville was just a mistake . Seattle was just Cam and Reed. And then I thought third times the charm, we're not gonna play down anymore. Guess not. When will this team learn?

I agree, this loss was a blessing. Pagano now has a better evaluation of the CB's and he see's now that we have to have our safeties in Cover 2 look a lot of times b/c our CBs isn't as good as we thought they were for the time being to play a lot of Cover 1 and 0 leaving them out their on islands all by theirselves. Even though I would say that the Chargers are a unique team from any other team in the NFL with two 6'5 WRs with deceptive speed and a great TE working the middle, still, Pagano needed to see that. On most teams in the league, we can get away with running Cover 1 most of the game but the Chargers is the least of those teams to be constantly running Cover 1 on.ckc

As far as on the offensive end, Cam has to realize that no matter how far we get behind, got to keep the run going b/c we don't normally do good when having to come from behind and we go one dimensional ( Cards game is the only game this season where we were successful with abandoning the run once falling far behind ). Front 4 rushes with 7 dropping back is obviously our achillies heel and most teams will do that when they are up big, especially when they see that their opponents struggle wth that. Keep the run game going.

I will say this game was a blessing if the front office finally wakes up the to the fact that it wouldn't matter if we had Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, Cam Cameron cannot call a proper offensive gameplan 2 games in a row. He just can't. And he, above all, cannot adjust.

Hear me out. We all know momentum makes a difference heading into the playoffs. With that loss I'm assuming the team was probably at the lowest its been all season. 24 Hours later we are handed a gift by our arch rivals. The team has to be motivated and realize now just how important every practice, workout, walk through and game is now. I don't see the players taking anything for granted from here on out. This could breed a sense of maybe this is their year and cause them to push that much harder. Only time will tell though what this team does with this opportunity. Though we might not get the #1 seed I feel of all the places to have to go, our players would have no problem in Foxboro.
I hear what you are saying, but if all they needed was a kick in the pants, wouldn't the Jags have been enough? Or the almost losing to the Cards? Or Seatle? Are they that brain dead that they need a jump start every 4 or 5 games? I would like to think that the team and/or coaching staff "got it" much earlier.

It was also really good for us to face an aerial assult during the season, instead of the first time being in the playoffs. It was good for Pagano especially to experience that. Jimmy Smith too

This guy brings up a great point.
The Chargers were by far the best passing team we have faced this season. IF, IF again I say IF we make it to the Super Bowl, odds are good we will face Green Bay or New Orleans. Both are great passing teams. That would not be a good time to find out you have a fetal flaw in your defense.

That wasn't a fetal flaw in our defense that was exposed against the Chargers , that was a full-sized adult flaw. A Haloti-sized adult flaw.

I just hope it's not still growing.

Chargers aren't some scrub team. At 10-4, we are obviously a VERY GOOD football team and still sitting near the top of the AFC. Asking this team to win 7 straight games to close out the regular season is still an extremely difficult task, regardless of whether we were supposed to or not. It's not like losing is in our blood or something like that.

I know. But they were a beatable team. And we played down. You can't tell me that we didn't, and you can't tell me that we couldn't have won.

Losing 1st seed is not a blessing.

maybe it was because we didn´t lose the first seed. i have my doubts that the steelers will win out with such a banged up qb...

Pats have first seed. Hopefully Pitt takes them out and we can beat Pitt at M&T in the Super Bowl.

I would actually be okay with this scenario. I am leaning to the two home games instead of going on the road. I just hate the thought that if we did lose to the Steelers. We are the ones responsible for sending them packing for the Super Bowl. Makes me sick.

Gotta seal up our regular season wins first.

Maybe to some extent it was.

Maybe teams will not fear us and get a little cocky and take us for granted.
I am sure Pagano will probably make some needed adjustments to sure up our secondary play and a lot of tape will be reviewed this week for improvements.
I am sure that our players will want to redeem themselves after Sunday night. I know I would.
Lastly, It sets us up to play Pittsburgh a third time and beating them three times would be so sweet!

I beleive our players will not let a game like what we saw Sunday night happen again. We will be in a good position going into the playoffs. This loss would have been much more devastating had we not gotten help from the 49ers, but we have been given a second chance to win the division and I beileve we will.
