Maybe The Blowout Was A Blessing...

77 posts in this topic

Hear me out. We all know momentum makes a difference heading into the playoffs. With that loss I'm assuming the team was probably at the lowest its been all season. 24 Hours later we are handed a gift by our arch rivals. The team has to be motivated and realize now just how important every practice, workout, walk through and game is now. I don't see the players taking anything for granted from here on out. This could breed a sense of maybe this is their year and cause them to push that much harder. Only time will tell though what this team does with this opportunity. Though we might not get the #1 seed I feel of all the places to have to go, our players would have no problem in Foxboro.

If the Ravens win out. They will have won 6 of their final 7 games. That's pretty good momentum. Our only loss cam in a night game across country.

It was also really good for us to face an aerial assult during the season, instead of the first time being in the playoffs. It was good for Pagano especially to experience that. Jimmy Smith too

i hear what you are coming from but to be honest with you....imo....the Ravens shouldn't need a steelers loss to "motivate" them. they should have already been motivated by winning the last of their 4 games....sitting on top of the AFC North.....controlling their own destiny.....winning out their last 3 games and taking the AFC North Division crown and the #1 Seed in the AFC. IF all of that doesn't motivate you....then a freely gift wrapped loss of the steelers won't necessarily do it either! 2 games left...let's see how they respond.

Trust me, I feel the same way. Honestly it never should have happened. Should have been up 1 on the Pats(had we beaten Jax and Seattle). This is why you gotta win the games you're suppose to. At the same time I feel this game might have reminded them to play every down like its the last.

The way the players looked on the sideline after being embarrassed makes me think there going to put some overtime @ BSHU!! Can someone please help a tourist from the south out lol, how far is airport from stadium? Trying to decide what hotel to book.

The fact that our losing made the Steelers play an injured Roethlisberger is our blessing. His injury will take more time to heal and that might mean he's still banged up by our second meeting.

I think our boys were amped and ready for this game, all the way up until that missed field goal... The entire team didn't look right after that.

I tried to tell my friend that. I don't know why but I feel that missed FG had a HUGE impact on the players psyche. I never agreed with giving Cundiff that kind of money. Koch had earned it, Billy, not so much.

Yah I thought about it too; that easy missed FG was really putting an anchor to our momentum....If our defense could hold Rivers 3 and out couple times, our offense should settle down and put some points..

Absolutely, the entire Ravens sideline kind of deflated, and all the Chargers fans in the stadium blew up, you would have thought they scored a safety lol.

again..i feel where you are coming from but to be honest with you Rum...that last lost took the wind out of my sails in defending the Ravens bruh! at this point in the season....they just looked awful! str8 trash in that loss to the chargers...shades of what we have been seeing with them all season. while i am grateful for that steelers loss....again...IF the Ravens weren't motivated by all i mentioned above...then i doubt the steelers loss last night will do it. at this point in the season...talk is cheap! the coaches just saying that we "have to get better" or "we have to fix it" over and over and over and never doing it is played out. smh!

Im still very cautiously optimistic. Its like this team keeps making the same mistakes. Every year its a new problem, Harbaugh claims it will be fixed and adjustments are NEVER made til the offseason. The only positive I could get from an early play off exit would be Cam Cameron being booted and banned from ever picking up any kind of playbook(Madden included) while in Baltimore or the tri state area.

Losing 1st seed is not a blessing.
1st seed - Steelers then Patriots
2nd seed - Texans/Denver then Patriots (who we've beat in the playoffs on the road).

It really isn't too far fetched to see a blessing.

Aquarium is awesome. But isn't Florida like one giant aquarium. I love the B-More aquarium. Since you are driving from the South. You can always swing by DC (its on the way) and there are plenty of monuments and museums to see. Only about a 30 minute drive from BWI airport.

Other than that. Just the inner harbor in Baltimore.

The Jets can still easily be the 6th seed and play Houston in the 1st round. Pittsburgh will play Denver. Pittsburgh should beat Denver. Regardless of what happens in the other wild card game either Pittsburgh as the 5th seed (if Houston wins) or the Jets as the 6th seed will play New England in the 2nd round. In both cases there is a pretty good chance that the Patriots lose and we regain home field throughout provided we take care of our own business.

The defense was certainly humbed on Sunday night and i am betting that a performance like that will not be seen the rest of the season.

Was the first time our defense faced a downfield aerial assult, I think we needed that.

Honestly, there's a lot to do down by the Stadium. The Inner Harbour which is walking distance from the stadium has a lot of shops and places to eat. The Aquarium is located at the Inner Harbour also. There's Fell's point close by if you like the bar scene.

You can probably find more info on this forum: http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/forum/28-ravens-fans-unite/

We would need the Pats and Texans to lose one to get the #1 seed. That is why its very unlikely.

If its a three way tie. Texans get the 1st with a better conference record (assuming Patriots lose one game both are AFC games).

But if the Pats do lose one game. They go from 1st seed to 3rd seed. So we wouldn't have to go to Foxboro.

We do. But the head-to-head wouldn't count in a three way tie with the Patriots. One team would have to lose or win to both teams. That didn't occur, so the head-to-head is not applicable.

Then it goes to conference record. If the Patriots lose (they have two AFC games left). Their conference record would be 9-3. Ours 9-3. The Texans 10-2. Texans would have the #1 seed.

If we're going to make our way into the playoffs with our head held high we need to do everything we can to shut down our opponents early. This means field goals, and touchdowns are scored when the opportunity presents itself. 2 chances at the end zone and then a missed field goal only gets people irritated.

If anyone looks at replays from the Chargers game you'll see that the entire game the Chargers always had a positive attitude. They gave their players a hand and always seemed to be in a good mood even when we were knocking at their door. Having this type of attitude all the way to the end of the game will help keep all of the player's heads in the game.

We are tied. If its only us and them. Then yes. The head-to-head would apply and we have the tiebreaker over them.

What I am saying is we get into a three way tie with the Patriots and Texans again (assuming Pats lose). Texans now hold the tiebreaker with their Conference record (since they lost to a NFC team and we lost to a AFC team this week). The head-to-head would no longer apply in this situation.
