Does The Steelers Loss Make Our Loss Any Less Painful?

46 posts in this topic

I'm going to say, the steelers loss makes it easier to cope with our loss but it still is frustrating because going forward the Steelers still have easier final 2 opponents..... We are in a must win these final 2 games to lock up at least the 2 seed.......... Final 2 games will tell us alot about this Ravens team no doubt............. Wrap up a sweep of AFC North division or continue to be second best in the division in terms of playoffs...........

If the Bengals beat Arizona this week they will come into Week 17 fighting for their playoff lives against us...........

God has given the Ravens the second chance to redeem themselves and prove to themselves that they are destined to travel on the road to Indianapolis. The Ravens better not disappoint the given second chance.....

Thankfully neither game is a night game or on the west coast.

Yes, the Steelers loss took some of the sting away from the loss, and still gives us the chance to win the division with a win over the Browns and Bengals.

absolutely not!

i couldn't care less about the steelers or what happens to them the rest of the season. but i absolutely LOVE the Ravens and pour all of my emotions into this team and that debacle, embarrassment and humiliation they suffered at the hands of a 6-5 team in primetime (again) really took the wind out of my sails.

Yes, it does ease the pain of the loss. The whole reason why the loss was so painful was because it put us into a position where we'd be on the road all through the playoffs. But now with the Steelers loss, we're back in the driver's seat for not only a home playoff game, but a bye. Sure we hurt our chances of having the AFC Championship at home, but winning out still means that the at worst we'd only have to go on the road in the AFC Championship game against the Texans or Patriots.

Yup, I feel much better... but then I realize had we won, we'd only need to beat Cleveland this week to clinch the AFC North :(

Hell yes it makes it less painful. We got our hats handed to us. So did a number of other quality playoff teams. Any given Sunday does that. Time to shake it off, go back to your fundamentals and beat the teams you know.

It's a mistake to put too much into any loss. Especially against a team you don't know who are pulling out miracles of their own to try and get into the bigs. SD won't make it to the playoffs this year but they got some short term bragging rights against us.

The big news is that we handed the division to the Steelers on a silver platter. We put them in a position where they played all out with a hurt Roethlisberger and subjected themselves to even more hurt. That's gonna be far more painful to them then our loss was for us.

Jim Harbough really did hand his big bro a huge gift last night. And the players are seeing it as a second chance for them to fix their woes and win. Steelers are still chasing us and banging themselves up bad in the process. I'm not bummed about losing No 1 seed. because with No 2 we still get the bye week and home playoff game. That's all I was hoping for anyway... a home playoff game. Got to see the one against Denver a decade ago then watched the rest of the Superbowl run on TV.

Then that leaves you guessed it Ravens-Steelers at our house for the AFC Championship

I know I'm looking maybe too far ahead here...but I see losing and getting the number 2 seed, not quite a bad thing here.

I'll go for that.

In my "Playoff Wild Dreams" it would be: we win out against Browns & Bengals to get No 2. Defeat Houston at home, host the Steelers for the AFC Championship then walk out of Indy triumphantly on Superbowl Sunday. A dream season where we own the AFC North, own the Steelers and get to carry out a trophy from Indianapolis with the Colts having one of the worst seasons they've ever had in Indy.

In reality, I'll be doing a lot of finger-crossing and antacid chewing over the next 6 weeks.

By virtue of the playoff system, with a #5 seed (Pittsburgh) being better than either the #3 or #4 seed, you are right. That would save us from having to play the Steelers in the Divisional round. However, if New England WINS the divisional round (reguardless of who they play) that all comes back to haunt us because then we have to play the Pats IN Foxboro.

And your afraid of the Patriots? We beat them in the Wild Card Round in 2009 in Foxboro and I'm pretty sure that defense didn't suck as bad as this year's Patriots defense. I'm not afraid of any team in the playoffs to be quite honest, the Texans are down to a 5th round rookie QB, Pittsburgh is limping down the stretch(and that's somewhat pun intended toward Ben's ankle), Patriots defense is horrible, Tebow will crumble against a real defense, the Jets look awful right now. If the Ravens can lock up the 2 seed and have to go to Foxboro for the AFC Title Game, I would say our chances of reaching Indy would be very good.

Come on now, any outcome that gives us back the opportunity for a home playoff game is huge. And potentially not having to go on the road to Pittsburgh? Last night was huge, definitely takes the sting off the loss. I would much rather go on the road to NE than Pittsburgh.

Yes, it makes it a lot less irritating. I really thought the Ravens had squandered any chance of a SB they had this year by losing on Sunday.

There are still a lot of questions about that game and going forward for us though, but with a home playoff game back in sight, things are looking better.

No it doesn't....we still played like bums and got embarrassed a fourth time this season. It was great to see them lose but we can forget homefield throughout the playoffs....nothing can soften that disappointment. I'd love to be wrong but don't think I will be.

That "defense" also has a share of the most INTs in the league and we all know who has been prone to throw those on the road. SMH.
