Why does it feel like we won tonight, man it feels good right now. Wow we are still ahead in are division. I'll take it.

49ers looked great tonight.

I know! This is the first time I've felt like I was watching a Ravens game and wasn't watching a ravens game. I've been excited watching the squealers lose, but with what was at stake for us, it was just like a Ravens win! Great stuff.

Phins could pull it off

Ehh it's not likely but they probably have a better shot than Buffalo

Just now saw the score... Didn't get to watch it or check the scores at all..
Knew the board would "look" different..
Sometimes this forum just makes me chuckle..

Just like that we control our destiny again.. Love it

This is confusing.. so if the ravens and Houston win out would we get the 2 seed?
Yes.. with the Patriots now having won one more game than both of us, the three way tiebreaker is no longer relevant. With Ravens & Texans tied, H2H comes into play as the first tiebreaker and Ravens beat Texans so we are ahead and get the 2 Seed.

I actually played 4 hours of HALO so I would not have yet another night ruined watching IF Pitts won.
NOW, I am sitting back and watching the game- DVR'd. :D

#2 is ours if we win out.

For #1 we need NE to drop a game and Houston to drop another game. If it is a 3 way tie the Texans get #1 seed and we get #2 because H2H is eliminated and it goes to conference record.
the NE loss also has to be a conference loss correct? Don't know their schedule to see if they are both in conference

why isnt the head to head match up first to determine tiebreakers. if us and the texans finish with the same record the texans would have the number 1 seed, and we beat them. it doesnt make any sense. it didnt used to be like that. i mean it would make sense right. 2 teams have the same record. the 2 teams played and team x won so they move up. now its like ok who had better strenght of victroy or whatever the first thing they look at. i think its stupid.

Only in the 3 way tie with NE would it apply evade we all haven't played each other so it would be impossible to base a tiebreaker since we haven't played.. Quite simple

Honestly I don't either but after this weekend, hey, who knows? Would have never called the Chiefs beating the Packers or Indy getting its first win.

I'll take #2. Nice to know #1 is still remotely possible though.

Patriots Final 2 Games: Dolphins & Bills and both are in New England.

Texans Final 2 Games: Colts and Titans, in Indy and home against Tennessee.

Both have 2 conference games left and so do the Ravens as we have Browns and Bengals.

Exactly...
Hard to understand after last night but I'm quite impressed with this team... Lot of young players moving into big roles throughout the year..
Truthfully the road mishaps shoulda been expected

so that win over houston means nothing when it comes down to the number 1 seed. i just looked up the nfl rules for tiebreaker procedures and the head to head is the first thing determined. i am just confused.

If the playoffs started today, the patriots would play the jets, and the steelers would play the broncos.

Then mostlikely, the ravens would end up playing the pats @ the bank and the texans would play eithier the steelers or the tebows.

Ideally, that's the best case scenario, other than us getting the #1 seed. Id rather get the pats/jets at home and then have to play in houston. Rather than have to travel to foxboro in the afc title game.

My understanding of the tie break rules is that if the Ravens win out, regardless of what any other team does, they get at least #2 seed because we beat both Pitt and Houston head-to-head (those 3-way tie-breaker rules are for within a division, not conference).

If we win out and NE loses one, we take #1 seed based on our strength of schedule and strength of victory if need be. Both the Ravens and NE at 12-4 would have same win %. We'd have same conference record. We didn't go head to head and our common games are the same (we lost to San Diego and they beat them, but they lost to Pitts and we beat them - don't think it matters we did it twice). After that, you're looking at strength of schedule (which we have them on) and in a tie there, strength of victory (which we have them on).

Not likely NE loses either of those, but after this weekend I can't say it's not possible.

If the Pats lose one and are at 12-4 with the Pats, Steelers, and Texans are we #2 or #3? I know it goes to AFC record, and ours would be the same, right? So then it would be common opponents, which I think we have the edge on, right?

Those tiebreaker things are just insane to follow so I did the Playoff Machine over on ESPN.

A 3 way tie with Texans/Ravens/NE gives Texans #1, Ravens #2, NE #3.

If both NE and Texans lose a game, Ravens are #1.

Of course, we have to win out for those to apply.

I tell you what, Flacco and the boys better be breathing a steady sigh of relief right now, but tomorrow GO TO WORK. That defense isn't where it should be against the great offenses. I understand not stopping San Diego - I don't understand not even slowing them down. That offense isn't where it should be all the time.

Let's go. Second seed is there if we want it. We've gone into Foxborough before; if we have to, we can take them out there. I don't think the Pats have the defense to win in the postseason - I have never been THIS underwhelmed by an 11-3 squad before in my life.

It only comes in to play if it's a 2 way tie between us and Houston. Say we and Houston win out and NE loses out, then we finish ahead of Houston because it's a tie between 2 teams and we beat them head to head. But if we both win out AND NE wins one of the two games, then you have 3 teams with the same record, and head to head doesn't effect a 3 way tie because our win over Houston has nothing to do with NE. Houston wins the three way tie-breaker because they'd have the best conference record out of the 3 teams. Then, once it's decided that Houston is number one, the tie breaker starts over for Baltimore and NE and we would win that based on strength of victory.
