Derrick Mason Wasn't Bitter After All

28 posts in this topic

In this video Mason talks about young QB's that struggled this week and he was very positive towards Joe Flacco. IDK, sometimes i like to hear some positive news :-p

Mase would be a good commentator. You know he loves to talk and he's got less clown factor than Keyshawn Johnson, Jamie Dukes, etc.

Absolutely, and he says what he feels, not what sounds good or is popular

He never seemed bitter, just prideful. He was cut, why should he have come back for less money, even though there are different stories about if he was even made an offer by the Ravens.

I respect that, I wish he could have kept that gig with the Texans for the rest of the season

I always liked him, was sad to see him "retire" those few times and get cut but I understood. For a while, he was our only weapon on offense. I think he should've retired this past season but, who cares, he seems to be doing well.

I am a huge Derrick Mason fan, he has a lot of pride and he is a classy guy, I have never known him to decline to sign an autograph or be kind to people in the community. My next door neighbor is in her 60's and had a huge crush on him and he even remembered her name.

He is a ham and has a great radio/TV voice. I think he would be head and shoulders above either of the wannabes you mention, especially Dukes.

Mason is da King of comeback routes; his crafty technique just fools most of the good CBs. I wish he passes that on to Torrey Smith. Mason will be forever missed as the Ravens and we are moving on...

I think Derrick understands that getting cut was a business decision and of all people, Joe had nothing to do with it. I'm sure the last 3 years together built a strong relationship between them. It's sad that his career, which was a brilliant one, had to end so ingloriously, but Mase, I'm sure, is proud of what he's done both in Baltimore and throughout his career, and I for one am proud to say that he was a Raven, even if it was for a relatively brief time. And I do think he'd be a great analyst - I actually think the best analysts are the players who didn't have all world talent, because they understand a little better how much hard work, dedication, and preparation it takes to even play with all-world talents.

His 6 yard hitch in combination with Flaccos arm strength accounted for many first downs and was close to unstoppable (it seemed) I'll always enjoy good memories of Mason in purple. I wish him the best.

Mason > Evans. Never thought I'd say that.

I think that is a tough comparison to make right now, Mase played entire seasons with us, while Lee has only played about 7 games and is currently working back into gameplay. However it is nice to see that Mase puts Flacco ahead of Sanchez and the stupid Jets....

yup, and he said that without hesistaion lol. He's more loyal to Flacco than 85% of the fan base.

Love that man. Love everything he did here in Baltimore. Would love to see him start of his career as an analyst in Charm City if he doesn't get a national-level gig right away.

Speaking of Mase.

If you want to hear his thoughts in full. He will be on 105.7 the fan sometime soon (maybe tomorrow)? A bitter guy wouldn't come on our Radio show for the Ravens fans.

I don't know what time or when. But I will update when I hear the ad again.

I love Mason just as much, but have my crush on Rice and Boldin now that he is gone.

I wish everyone out there calling for Flacco's head right now would watch that video. Derrick Mason is always respectful, but he's never been afraid to speak his mind. That's a guy who spent 15 years in the league, was very good for a very long time, and knows the difference between a good quarterback and a bad one.
