Do You Think Sizzle & Co. Are Salivating At A Limping Big Ben?!

17 posts in this topic

I think he'll only get worse as he tries to play on that high ankle sprain. I don't see them going very far with that horrible injury. I mean I definitely learned to not underestimate him but even he doesn't seem to be able to overcome this injury. I think Suggs and the D would eat them alive at this point if we matched up. Unfortunately, it'll be a while before we see them again but I think inevitably we will.

I think Sizzle and company are still pissed about what they lost last night. I'd be pissed about until next season.

Uh why the season is not over??

Well, this is just my logic. Again, I'm a fan, never have been and never will be a football player. But suppose we go on the road to the playoffs. All I'd be thinking was "Why didn't we run the ball against the Jags and Chargers' bottom 10 run defenses? All I'm saying is that this year, we had not one, but 3 opportunities, in my opinion, that could have secured us homefield advantage. Yes the Jags and Seahawks' games were early in the season, but we should have won, and maybe would have if we'd stuck to the gameplan that's won us every game - a balanced attack. Case in point - the Steelers' Rashard Mendenhall has had 1 game this season, 1, where he carried the ball less than 10 times. Even when they were blown out by us, the Steelers still ran in the double digits. This season, Ray Rice has carried 10 times or less in 4 games - and 3 of those were losses. Between jacksonville and Seattle he had 13 carries combined. The Chargers have a top 10 passing defense and a bottom 10 running defense. Conventional wisdom says run the ball, like we did in Cleveland, right? What did we do? Passed. I don't care if we're down by 30 points, I feel this offense, and more importantly, Joe Flacco, plays so much better when we establish the run. Flacco is great at play action, ergo we need a running game. Who knows, maybe a big run by Rice would have forced the Chargers to play close to the line of scrimmage and opened things up. The problem is, just like the Chargers, we run a very, very rigid offensive system that NEEDS everything to be working, the run, the pass, blocking, everything, to score. That's the weakness of the system we run. We have to have a running game to be successful on offense. And what do we do the moment we're down? We abandon the run. Except, funnily enough, the Arizona game, where Rice had 18 carries and, what do you know, the Ravens mount the largest comeback in franchise history.

No matter what, as long as Cam is here, we will never get anywhere, and I think a lot of the players know it. Look at the difference Pagano has made. Last year our defense at times blew games for us i.e. New England, Atlanta. This year they've been brilliant in almost every game, except this one where our secondary got torched. But they were torched because Rivers had so much time to find receivers, and kept getting the ball back, so the defense was totally worn out by the end of the game. Yes the defense should have played better and stopped Rivers, but the anemic offense gave Rivers and the Chargers a lot of opportunities to score.

Hind site is always 20 20. If I'm Tomlin I would have gone with Roethlisberger last night too. At least until the second pick. But it's obvious now he needs to sit out until the playoffs.

Yeah. I would have thought they would be 'salivating' over Rivers hiding behind a porous O-Line. That didn't happen.

Don't think the Ravens are thinking much except win on Sunday. Win on next Sunday. Get a week's rest.

Their O-Line did a pretty good job last night. There were times when Ben had almost 5 seconds to throw last night. So I'm not so sure we would have more sacks just b/c he's not 100%. Everyone thought Suggs was going to have a field day against Gaither, but obviously that hasn't happened.

Like the Ravens players and coaches I am focused on the Browns. If the Steelers matchup happens then yes. To all the people that are down on the Ravens. It was a horrible game, and I am angry too. However its not the end of the season. We are in "Fetivus" for the 4th consecutive year. With the Steelers lost we may not be road warriors. It was a horrible game. It was not Ray Lewis's fault, not Joe Flacco's fault. That defeat belonged to everyone in purple and black. We didn't play well in any phase of the game. The players know it and I do not see this happening again. I am a Ravens fan and I still believe in my team. Yes, we have some issues to fix. Now, Lets go beat the Cleavland Browns.

Yea they did. I really don't know how the Steelers do it at time. Without Pouncey, they looked the same. Well until the 4th quarter where the 9ers pass rush was on fire.

But the Steelers O-Line for three quarters did a great job.

We're not playing or coaching in the game so we can look ahead. Thanks.

Odds are that we wouldn't see the Steelers before the AFC Championship game at this point, so that's 5 weeks Ben would have to recover an injury that typically takes 3-4 weeks to recover (and that he's already had 1.5 weeks to let heal). Besides if we did face them in the AFC Championship game then that would mean the Steelers already beat two teams on the road in the playoffs, which would likely mean that the offensive line was protecting him.

Sizzle and Company need to be salivating over Colt McCoy and Andy Dalton...

We aren't playing the steelers anytime soon. Lets get into the playoffs first....
