Browns @ Ravens On Christmas Eve

Saturday, December 24th @ 1:00 PM

I didn't see the game thread yet, and I thought it might be a good idea to just move on from last night and get ready for Cleveland, just as the team should do.

We handled the Browns pretty easily in Cleveland a few weeks ago, but never underestimating an opponent has been an important lesson this season. We're at home which is huge, since we haven't lost a game at home yet. Regardless of what Pittsburgh does tonight, this is still a game we want to win. You never know what could happen in those last two weeks of the season, especially since they'll be on a short week. Any given Sunday. Sure, we've already clinched the playoffs but I think we all would be a lot more comfortable not being a wildcard this season given our lackluster road performances.

Game strategy should be similar to the first time we played them: feed Ray Rice. If we get a comfortable lead maybe our starters can get some rest. I think we all probably are hoping for a good win to wash the taste out of our mouths after last night's embarrassing loss.

I'm sure we'll beat them pretty good, however, Seneca Wallace is a lot better than Colt Mccoy in my opinion. But, I almost get the feeling the Browns want to lose to position themselves better in the draft. This game will mean a lot more if San Fran can pull out the win tonight.

Totally agree... it's time to move on to Cleveland. Rice needs to get 25+ carries if we're going to win. Joe, unfortunately, doesn't seem to want to take over the offense.

Looking forward to this game, it's cool that it's on Saturday too. We need to come back in force. No matter what seed we are, we have to be hot going into and through the post-season.

Run, Run and then run some more. Have this game's clock reading 0:00 before its even 3:45. Call it day and eat some Christmas pudding.

Yeah, not much to change up with this game. I would like to see the defense get their swagger back though. A shutout would be nice.

I think I'd honestly like to see Wallace start this game. While we lost yesterday we seemed to be a bit better on offense and a bit more fluent. Of course having a healthy Peyton Hillis helped that as well but Wallace just seemed to be a little more in sync with the WRs and getting them the ball a bit more accurately.

The Ravens need to spend less time studying films of their opponents and more time studying films of themselves.

The Chargers proved that if you know what the Ravens are going to do , you can exploit their weaknesses and beat them. This fact will not be lost on future opponents.

IIRC we didn't sack Wallace in the week 3 meeting last year when he started against us so I can imagine we have similar problems in getting after him.

That being said, I hope to see the players livid about the opportunity that they have probably (depending on the outcome of tonight's game) squandered and put an absolute beating on them. Go for the throat and don't let up until we have 35 or more points.

I don't even care about this game.

They'll beat the Browns and everyone and their mother will act like they're Super Bowl contenders again. Totally ignoring what happened last night and ignoring the truth that they are NOT Super Bowl contenders.

Yeah, let's act like beating a team who hasn't made the playoffs since God knows when is a great thing and forget the fact they got curb stomped last night. Haven't seen a beating like that since 07'.

Last night was bad. Once upon a time I was a teenaged kid learning to fly airplanes. I screwed up a lot. "The only real thing you have to learn how to do," my great-uncle, who was also my instructor, would say, "is learn how to forget it. Like it never even happened. You have a chance to do it again, and do it right, and from that moment on, that's the only way you'll ever do it."

Playing in the NFL is the most similar thing I can think of--you just have to turn your memory off. Don't even get the swag "back,: but just reinvent it this week. Go out and kill the Browns. They're a team in a bit of a free-fall now, so the opportunity couldn't be better. Keep your foot on the gas this week, Baltimore. Get Ray Rice the ball and shove it down their throats like a few weeks ago. Get some freakin pressure on the QB this week! Let Jimmy Smith have a chance to atone for what happened last week--he clearly does have the ability to do that. Hillis is healthy, so that will be a new challenge, but we've been effective against the run all year. Time to continue that.

Now is DEFINITELY not the time to hang our heads. I've said it ad nauseum; NOBODY talks any longer about Aaron Rodgers losing back-to-back games to the Deadskins and Dolphins last year. It happened. Right your course, and no one remembers San Diego except as a footnote about the fortitude you possessed during a critical juncture, blah blah blah.

There's a large possibility that this game will be meaningless so meh.

How so? I assume you mean to just concede the division to Pitt?

I keep hoping that we will finally see an offensive performance the likes of which they haven't demonstrated since St. Louis (I think). Hopefully, this pathetic loss will light a fire under both the offense and defense and (when they are safely at home and away from the national spotlight) they will finally have another dominant game on both sides.

Tip of my hat to you, my friend. Thanks for the kind words! My great uncle would probably have a heart attack if he knew someone actually thought his words were useful ;)

Why not? They're not going to lose to the Rams or the Browns.

The Steelers always "almost" lose. But they never do. They'll play like crap and win like 3-2.

I believe the Browns will make every attempt to play spoiler. Ravens must be sharp and play I mean Ball So Hard in every phase of the game.

There's no room for error now. The Steelers have St Louis and Cleveland. If we win out we keep #2, which is the best case scenario at this point. At least one home playoff game and the first round bye. We cannot let Cleveland or Cincy ruin this for us.
