I think most teams that won SB were seeded 5 or 6, and few teams top seed went in and won the whole thing. The biggest inspiration to take out the best of a football player is respect. As long as Ray Lewis tells his teammates that we got no respect from every1 but to ourselves, and lets go out there and earn your respect. The only way to get the respect is to hold the Lombard Trophy in Indianapolis....

It's a little off-topic but I am going to take the bait on this one.

First of all, I am not superstitious, and I don't put too much faith into trying to find patterns and trends. I think each game is a unique set of circumstanstial situations. While it's interesting to break the game down into nuts, bolts, and stats I think ultimately it takes away from the big picture at times.

But with that being said I think the Lombardi is obviously the surest way of earning the "respect" of the league, pundits, and fans. But I think in general players are professional athletes and things like motivation, and inspiration are really fringe aspects of the game.

Lastly, your point on seeding is a little off. But even in the Super Bowl I believe that "any given Sunday" applies fairly. Here's a look at recent Super Bowl winners and their seeding.

That will tell the whole story of the irrelevance of seeding in playoff. I can't think of any good example except the 49ers of which surrounded by young talented players but underachieved before Jim's era. He instills confidence and swagger on these players and makes them excel on any given Sunday. That tells alot about inpiration, motivation, and confidence impacts on the success of the players.

You forgot the mention the last year wild card Packers although most high seeds win the SB but if any team show up in playoff, they will come out with a W.

I think a tiny thing happening in game can change the whole course of the game; momentum shift is killing if it's not falling on you. Cundiff missing the easy FG was really killing the team momentum.

He was being sarcastic. He's actually been the biggest Ray Lewis supporter this week. Proving naysayers wrong.[/quote]

My bad, Had I realized that I would not have posted that.

Ok, so it's Monday morning and there is a bunch of doom and gloom on the forums. *Yawn* So what else is new? Did everyone have a Merry Holiday? I know I did, and my kids couldn't be happier either. I have 3 of them 6 and under poking me in the eye at 6am, and I wouldn't trade that moment for any in the world. I personally am happy the Ravens beat the Browns. It's all I wanted for Christmas. Well, that and at least a shot at a home play-off game (which we do have.)

Was the win pretty? No, it wasn't always pretty. But to quote Dickens, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only."

So with every positive you can say there is always a negative. We're 8-0 at home, and hopefully our best games are in front of us. But we've got injuries, inconsistencies, and the pressure is on us to win. It's the biggest game of the season. But isn't the next game always the biggest one?

So it's not perfect, but I refuse to succumb to being a chicken little. Call me naive, an apologist, an optimist. Call me what you will. But what good does bemoaning the bad things really do? I say we take the stand of supporting the team through thick and then. Let the chips fall where they may.

Oh and @ Jagster. I know those people, and am one of those people! Lol, welcome to the forums.
