Purple Punishment

Chargers...

Whether anyone wants to believe it or not, they are much much better than their record shows. We lost to a great high powered football team tonight. They were plagued with injuries for their losses. They had all their pieces back together again tonight, healthy and they gelled very well.

They are a playoff calibur team and I hope to not have to see them again come playoff time

The loss was embarrassing but the fact that people are referring to the Chargers as "another mediocre team with a losing record" is ridiculous. The Chargers are a good team.

Doesn't excuse the fact that we got blown out. Don't think we've played like that since Indy in 08

Our D has never played that bad. Ever

Agreed. They play their best ball in December. And their WR/TE core is finally all healthy at the same time. They found a stabilizer in Gaither. So yea they are really good.

But if we are serious about a Super Bowl team. This is the type of team we needed to beat. Because there are a lot of teams just like them in the playoffs. More like them. Less like the Browns/Colts.

the fact of the matter is that NO ONE here should be saying that the Ravens are gonna..."roll," "crush," "smash," "destroy," "dismantle, "blast," or "dominate" a team that "supposedly" has a losing record and that they are "suppose" to beat...ever again! they are obviously not that kind of team!

If the Ravens actually play their best football, NO BODY can beat us..... Sadly, we never get complete mistake free games....

That is the sad part. We are the most balance team in the NFL. Deadly when we play at our talent level. But we have a tendency to just disappear.

I still blame it on when we play a team that has a good game plan. We do nothing to change from our original game plan and we end up getting embarrassed.

It's a very frustrating situation. We just can't keep momentum or sustain a long winning streak, which needs to happen to win it all. You can't limp into the playoffs.

Were you the one that talked about the winning streak? We'll whoever it was, was right. We couldn't give this team its longest winning streak.

The Ravens must feel like they have to keep us on our toes. Like my wife.

How come the offense and defense can't show up on the same game?
Well, neither showed up for this game. So at least they both did the same thing for once. lol

On a serious note, to not show up for a game so crucial, so late in the season, with the return of our leader, is inexcusable. What happend? I hope it's out of our system. But we seriously can not win on the road this year for whatever reason. We are so bad on the road it's not funny. We need that GIFT from San Fran tommorow and then (assuming we destroy the Browns, i think they are losing on purpose now) we have to win another tough road game vs the Bengals.

The scary part about our team today, the Defense. I have NEVER seen that so bad. Every time Rivers passed you knew it was being completed for a big play.

Today was a reality check for the team as a whole. The offense still needs work and defense is in trouble. You can only imagine what Brady, Rodgers, or Brees will do against that 2ndary.

Because they are inconsistent. We can run, pass and play defense at top a top level. But we can't do it with sustained consistency. We are the most balanced team when we play up to our talent level. A lot of teams only do one facet of the game great. Pack, Patriots. How many good offenses are there but bad defenses? How many good defense but bad offenses?

We are very balance, we just need to play up to our talent.

Heh, NEITHER showed up today, to be honest. Our deep passing game was nonexistent. We had a good ball-control offense early on but the defense's inability to stop the SD offense meant we had to abandon it. So please, no talk about Cam. This one's not on him

I can't think of many good teams that lost 6 in a row, I wouldn't call the Chargers a bad team, but I think they have earned the label of mediocre.

Mediocre teams can still have great performances, just like good teams can have bad performances.

Those two things happened tonight.

We all know these rules do not apply to the Chargers. This has been their MO for years.

I hope somebody else takes them out before that happens. Not so we don't have to play them again--so they feel the disappointment we all felt tonight.

According to that ridiculous <troll> posting in the game thread (and he is definitely a Steeler fan in disguise), no, it wasn't Ray's fault. It was a combination of lack of defensive adjustments, blitzing not effective yet we continued to run the same pressure up front only to leave Jimmy Smith running for his life. Smith showed he is not ready to be a starter. Reed delivered zero help over the top. Chargers line got away with a couple of holding calls to give him more time, which is why we kept getting burned (too much time to pass). It was a nightmare. But for those saying, "oh look what happens when Ray comes back"...THis illustrates non-intelligent football knowledge. Be real here:

Without Ray we played Cincinnati (gave up 450 yrds of offense), then shut down 3 of the worst offenses in the league Colts, Browns, adn 49ers, congradulations. This is the first GREAT offense we faced all year and look what happend. Back to the drawing board for Pagano.
