Ravens549

A Team Plagued By Its Own Inconsistencies

50 posts in this topic

Defense played one of the worst games I have ever seen them play. Literally the CHargers scored on every drive expect for the missed FG. Are you kidding me?

So many hypocrites on here when win a couple straight everyone praises Flacco, the whole team plays like Crap then Flacco gets bashed.

The D played garbage today 0 sacks really.... Im sorry I have to admit I rather see Mcphee or Ellerbe then R. Lewis right now.
Also the receivers were not getting no seperation, what happened to the playcalling ? Im having my doubts of this coaching staff.

McPhee plays Inside Linebacker now?

the ravens have been this predictable for too long, its on the coaches this time, Y would u call passing plays when running the ball 10 yards a pop, the problem is we have stubborn coaches, we have talent we just dont know how to use them.

Did anyone notice the lack of pass rush tonight? Where was Kruger, McPhee, Suggs, Ngata, I mean what was Chuck thinking??? Did Cam give him a IHOP Menu too?
What happened to our exotic blitz packages? It seems like our 8 man blitzes are so easily stopped by the opposing OL, time after time

Terrible, and its not their fault at ALL.
Same dude that got ray his 1st rings fault...brian billick. Was toooo smart for his own good. Let dilfer go for throw a pretty ball elvis gerbac who had a limited football IQ...and most notably hanging onto kyle "trip over my own feet every game" boller. If mcnair could have thrown a football more than 20yrd we would have won in 2006. 2006 still stings! Mcnair didn't have the arm any more to go with his mind.

I wouldn't say they were the best defense of all time

But yeah. I know we'll recover. Although the defense has been suspect at times before so I'm hoping next week they use a mulligan and it's their last then continue to play like the D we expect.

"ADJUSTMENTS" thats what this game came down to, its just that simple. That Ravens did not make ANY adjustments and the Chargers did. It was brilliant how the Chargers had TE McMichaels chip blocking Suggs all night. It was brilliant how P. Rivers so single coverage and TRUSTED his receivers to make the PLAY. Flacco DOES NOT believe in his receivers can make the play, so he dumps it off to R. Rice every single play. Thats why Rice leads the league in yards from scrimmage and our WR/TE never have any stats to speak of. Im not knocking Rice, but Flacco has to thrown the ball up like he did in the St. Louis game. JUST THROW THE BALL FLACCO!

This team is consistently inconsistent.....................

But this loss is one in which, the opposing Team really went out and Beat the Ravens, there were no horrible calls by the Refs that cost us a TD, or a special team mistake, or a 4th qtr collapse like last season... It was just flat out a loss to an explosive team capable of these types of games especially with a healthy Gates, Floyd and Matthews all of whom missed time earlier in the year during the losing streak.....

usually a Raven's loss can be accompanied by shoulda, coulda, woulda, Ravens had a let down, Well the Chargers just came out and played great.........

At least we have our playoff spot clinched could have took a beating like the Jets and still be in limbo....

I'm a big Flacco supporter, but he's probably been the most inconsistent player on this team all season long... the only "good" thing about it is that he won't be commanding top-QB money, and hopefully he'll just keep his mouth shut the rest of the way.

Should he lead us to the promised land, that obviously will change things, but if that doesn't happen, Ozzie will have a huge decision on his hands.

Should have not mailed in that playoff money On the road once again.

Isn't that the truth?! Had nothing better to do with that $1000 before the holidays anyway.

Yes, if the Steelers lose tomorrow we are still eligible for the number 2 seed but I believe we need Houston to lose again next week.
Nope. We beat Houston in week six, and since they have a tied record with us, we have the head to head on them. So they do not have to lose anymore for us to pull ahead of them, since we are ahead of them now. The Steelers do have to lose tonight for us to get that 2nd seed. And of course we have to find a way to actually beat the Browns and the Bengals.

I know everyone is trying to put the blame on the Rookie, but thats not what happened here. First Smith was out with a injury at the beginning of the season and missed too much playing and practice time. This was the time he needed to develop some experience, during the regular season with experienced players around him to help him, protect his inexperience. The loss that occurred last night, was on the team and the coaches, not Smith.

I'm not a player nor a coach, and I have to leave it to them to determine what went awry. But I will say this, in my 45 years following professional football, I've never seen a team play so inconsistently. I've seen teams that were not good but had good years and visa verse, but I have never seen a team like this fall apart at the seams, after being so dominate against the best teams in the league. It hasn't just happened once, there is a trend.

I don't want to take anything away from Chargers team, they came to play. They have been extremely inconsistent themselves, not just this year, over the past 3 or 4 years. But they came to play last night in prime-time and at home, both the players and the coaches. BUT - there was no reason the Ravens should have lost this game... none, if they came prepared to play and executed.

I know all the fans, like myself are extremely disappointed in what happened Sunday night. This wasn't just a game to win, it was a win statement. A statement to the Steelers, that we have moved up and are now the dominate team in the division, and that they would have to come play us in our home if they want to move on. It was a statement to the Ravens themselves, that they are a powerful team, able to overcome adversity and focus on reaching their goals. It could have also one of the best Christmas presents I ever have had in my life. To see a team that I follow like my family's achievements, to have them host football at Ravens stadium, to finally get the respect that they deserve for the past decade of achievements and hard work.

I am very disappointed.

Hopefully the 9ers can beat the Steelers tonight. If the Ravens '11' can't regroup and finally compete at the next level, then I guess the Steeler fans are correct, that the Ravens are not an elite team and their coaches and players are better at maintaining focus of their players, and the Ravens are not. I am not a fair weather fan. I bleed purple and black. But today my pride is hurting.

very good post and true. My pride is hurting as well, but we need to dust ourselves off and just move on.

Yeah dude, great plan! lets bench Flacco, let Tyrod start the rest of the season. That sure would help out this team this far into the season and being about 3 weeks away from playoffs!

/sarcasm
Actually it isn't that bad of a plan, only because if the Steelers win tonight it's probable they will win the rest of their games (St. Louis, Cleveland). I think Cleveland has the best shot to beat them after tonight's game, since it's a divisional game (and they seemingly played well against them during their last meeting). However, with a win tonight it will be huge momentum for the Steelers. Stopping them after that will be a hard task. If that does in fact happen, we can't really count on New England to lose their last two either. Bench the starters, rest them, allow them to focus on potential match ups, and plan for becoming road warriors. Obviously, if Pitt loses tonight then we have a big chance to get that number 2 seed. It isn't likely that we will get the number one back with New England on top, but with a Pitt loss tonight and two wins for us we get the number two back. Besides that, I really don't care about our record. Get Billy healthy for the playoffs for crying out loud, get Ngata healthy, get Webb healthy. Extra practice for our youngsters, and some more time between Lee and Flacco...sounds good to me. Or, assuming the Steelers win we just keep playing our starters hoping they lose a game that, in all likely hood, they will not lose. A healthy road team at, say, 10-6 is better than a banged up tired 12-4 team. Just my opinion though.
