The Flag On Suggs!?

55 posts in this topic

I still can't figure out why the refs didn't run up to the line of scrimmage like they normally do when a false start is called so that the players, you know, STOP PLAYING!!! Just blowing the whistle in that stadium on a 3rd and long situation with our 12th man as loud as they can be doesn't cut it and these refs should be called out for that... I hope Mike Pereira has a good explanation on his Official Review segment later this week on NFL Total Access.
The call came on a third-down incompletion by Collins that would have forced the Titans to punt. However, the Titans were called for a false-start penalty on the play. The officials said they tried to whistle the play dead but both teams continued to play, leading to the call on Suggs after Collins'
The refs are being quoted as blowing the whistle, but nobody heard them. And since the love tap to the helmet occured, it is still assessed as a penalty. But apparently they were trying to call the play dead.
And how in the hell were the penalties not offset? How come the other team didn't get any punishment for their penalty...

Once again the refs screwed us, and now we have another loss under our belts.
Roughing the passer is a unsportsmen like conduct foul and will superceed any other foul unless the other team commits the same type of foul, but if that was unsportsmen like conduct the what was it when Hanesworth jumped accross the line hit Flacco in the head and knocked him on the ground?

The flag on the last drive of the titans was such a f***** call, cause there was no roughing the passer and no illegal contact, if the refs would know a bit more about the rules the ravens would be 3-1 and not 2-2 so i think this penalty call really was a bad one

Why dos the NFL hate us so much?????? I'm going to vent but I have to get it off my chest. They game after game make calls that are either plan out bad or they make it up. I truly believe that if it were say the Patriots or Cowboys that were supposed to the play the Texans that week they would have made arrangments. Why do they hate us-- is it because year after year our Defense is stellar? Is it because we have some mouthy player's? So what is T.O.- beyond mouthy and plan out stupid- whoever let's him near a TV camera is an idiot!! Ok and what about Chad Johnson or whatever he is called this week??? Our team is a class act, yet we get the CRAP end of the stick to often not to be PI$$ed. These are solely my vent's but I'm so sick of the lack of RESPECT!! The lack of un-bias.

I love my team and just want the same treatment as everyone else. Thank you for listening

Go RAVENS
I agree with that but for everyone saying this cost us the game it didnt. Our defense folding is what cost us the game.
I have to disagree. The defense made that stop, and the refs took it away from us. Imagine how demoralizing that must be. Players are only human, And when stuff like this happens to them time after time, to blame the loss on them for folding late (especially when they had been stellar all game) is ridiculous.

Like I said before, blowing the whistle is not enough! There should have been flags flying everywhere and refs flailing their arms running to the line of scrimmage like they normally do so that the players can SEE them and know to stop. It's waaaay too loud at M&T to expect them to hear the whistle in that particular situation.

Like it or Not The Ravens are not part of the goodol' boy network. Even though Art Model did more fore the league his move to Baltimore angered the higher ups. Baltimore was not supposed to have a team. Jack Kent Cooks boys were to see to that. Plus we are an in your face brash defense. Here in Texas everyone tells me the Ravens are a bunch of thugs. I don't buy it I love our defense. I can not explain this any other way. Its not just this season its every season. And if you dare challenge the so called athority the fine you. In a close game the Ravens are always at risk to lose. We need to not leave the game in others hands and put a few more points on the board... That way no matter what happens the outcome will not be in question.

You guys had tons of BS calls called your way too. Just because ours happened near the end isnt the point. Chris Hope got a 15 yard Unsportsmanlinke penalty, when he and Mason were fighting, when both should have gotten them, the announcers said it was a bad call. Cortland finnegan tackled the runner inbounds and got called for unsportsmanlike conduct. That was a BS call. Btw all of this was in your guys' drive for points when the refs were basically throwing a flag every play against us. So stop blaming the refs when you guys got off easy as far as the Refs go.

Thats one of the reasons are D was imploding, was that they were getting BS calls every play against them in what was blatant bad officials.

"Baltimore Ravens rush end Terrell Suggs and safety Ed Reed were fined $15,000 apiece by the NFL on Wednesday for making impermissible contact with officials during the Ravens' emotional meltdown Sunday against the Detroit Lions."

When you act like that the refs are going to be cautious about what they call.

Nice job making a quote without giving the time or date, that was a few years ago and if you had seen the game (which being a Titans Troll you obviously didn't) you would have realized that while Ed and Terrell may have gone too far with their comments it wasn't too far from the truth, some of the calls in that Lions game were garbage!

This incident was not even mentioned on "Week 5 official reveiw"!
They didn't even discuss it on NFL Total access.
Everybody wants a clear answer and the NFL acts like nothing happened!

Good to see that absolutely nobody cares about the Ravens!!!

Can't wait until Sunday - COLTS... here we come!!

I know! I think I know why they didn't address it too... because if they did then they would actually have to be held responsible for totally screwing up a call once again <_<

P.S. Hines Ward was fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness against us during that Monday Night game; naturally, Ward was NOT penalized for the hit during said game. What a surprise.

I am not certain of the exact hit, and apparently Ward isn't either... regardless, it just goes to show ya how awful referees have been this season.

I think your right. I think it was a fumble in that game. Will Demps picked it up and headed for the endzone and the ref blew the play dead before he finished it off and then they gave the ball back to the Lions, saying the ball had hit out of bounds. And then after further review, it was shown that the ball didnt go out of bounds but the play was blown dead, so the Lions kept the ball.

I am pretty sure it had to be the one where he took and threw Mac to the ground by his face mask before the ball was anywhere near him. The one that he not so coincidentally got open for like a 40 yard gain on.

The refs should be responsible for what they do. I wish they had different refs for our games. It always seems like the same refs that always screw us over.

One of the ideas that is being thrown around is make the refs full time employees of the NFL because lets face it, the Ravens are not the only team that has been screwed over by the refs. San Diego lost a game in their division that they would have won, due to not 1 but 2 blown calls by the refs.

I can understand the Chargers. But we have had more game changing calls that have been against us more then the Chargers as well as no calls made by the refs. The Steelers was the ones the refs decided not to call and the Titans game was the one the refs threw the flag on.

There is no reason for blown calls or bad plays to negatively impact a game's outcome. Especially in this day and age (w/the technology we have) when you can look up at the big screen 15 seconds after the play is over and re-watch what really happened.

When teams are investing millions, billions of dollars into building a winning team and you have a guy making less than a 5 figure salary decide the outcome....something has to be changed.

There should be at least 2 full time replay officials at every game. There should be mandated cameras focused on every 10 yards of the field, sideline cameras, field goal cams, endzone cams. There should be NO REASON a play can not be reviewed from multiple angles to make the correct call. A Billion dollar organization; this is not acceptable.

I think they need to allow everything to be challenged. If the coach loses both his challenges oh well. Improvise the rule of after 2 successful challenges a coach receives a 3rd...it should be after 2 successful challenges or any there after a coach should be re-credited with the previous challenge used.. They need to get rid of the rules where a play can not be overturned once a call has been made. And they need to allow questionable plays to stay a live until the play is officially over then they should blow the whistle.

Increase the fines for personal fouls and cheap shots. And officiate players with their money and contracts not the outcome of games.

IT WAS COMPLETE BS if that didn't happen we would have stopped them and won the game.
The refs are ridiculous i have been saying this now for 2 years! they have been causing a lot of teams to loose or hurt them.. on horrible horrible calls!. Like Mason said on the RADIO that day after the game there needs to be something done about these refs.. weather they go to school all year to learn how to call plays correctly like the other sports referees or something.. NFL is the RICHEST SPORT IN THE WORLD and the REFS don't even go to school year round except their out playing golf....
This is 2 STRAIGHT games now the refs have done us wrong..

-And off subject but BTW MATT STOVER needs to retire.. he has a miss in about every game.. it seems keeps hurting us not helping.. its obvious he has no more kick in his leg.. like he told me during training camp signing something for me.. did you see me out their kicking them 40 yarders its not easy being in your 40's and doing that.. yet he missed 2of 3 of them that practice.. shows he needs to go.. he can barely squeeze in a 30 yarder.. didn't he miss a 30 some yarder this year? I know all you Matt Stover lovers r gonna cry at this comment but its true.. HARBAUGH NEEDS TO hold a KICKING CONTEST with some free agent kickers..

I hated that they made that call, but it is what it is. I agree with you though the Refs have got to start getting better with the calls they make. It may have something to do with the new policys and rules that the league put out about unnecessary roughness and the no tolerance rule that Goodell is enforcing, maybe your right about the refs being full time and going back to school or something.

It is not Stover's leg it is his accuracy. He has goten plenty of distance on his misses from 40 plus but has just not been able to put them through the uprights. He has surprised me in how many balls he is actually geting in the endzones on kickoffs. Matt should be fine, I beleive Harbaugh said some thing like it was his timing or something. His misses have been a big blow in our two losses but lets not give up on him now after all of those years he was the offense.

Not to get off subject but they did mess with his routine.
P.S. Denver's Matt Prater kicks 65 to 68 yarders in practice.
I think he wants to go for the record and if a favorable situation comes up, Denver will let him try it.
Stover acknowledged recently that it's been an adjustment for him to change his approach to each kick since the snap-and-hold operation from long snapper Matt Katula and holder Sam Koch has been accelerated under new special-teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg.

So far, the change hasn't paid dividends as Stover's accuracy has regressed.

Harbaugh insisted that the change is going to ultimately be helpful to Stover.

"That's going to be a benefit," Harbaugh said. "The fact is that Jerry has changed the stance of the holder a little bit, which opens up the holder to make some catches and Sam is doing a great job with that technique. The ball is getting down faster, so that gives a kicker a better chance to look at the ball longer.

"Sometimes, the factor there is that he thinks that he's moving slower than he is because the ball is down quicker, so he feels like he's got to get to the ball quicker. Matt has worked that out now where he's getting to the ball at the same pace, but he's actually getting a better look at the ball and that should help him."
Apparently he made one kick which would have been good from 70 yards during a game. The projections were measured. It is true, that they want to give him a shot of breaking the record.
