Whats Your Thought On Who We Should Sign In The Offseason

56 posts in this topic

I think the O-line has to be the top priority. Birk is probably done and Gurode and McKinnie aren't spring chickens. Jah Reid may or may not develop as we'd hoped. I'd like to see the new talent arrive via the draft , which is supposed to be rich in O-line talent in 2012. A tackle and center to play behind and learn from the vets , and then steal their jobs because of superior play , would be ideal , and even more ideal would be if one or both of them is adept at playing more than one position in the line. I'm assuming we keep Grubbs.

After the O-line I'd look for ILB and safety.

1) Offensive Coordinator
2) Ben Grubbs
3) Offensive Coordinator
4) Re-sign Birk, keep Gurode and move him to Center or just Draft a Rookie Center and let him play from the beginning
5) Offensive Coordinator

Re-sign Ray Rice: Franchise Tag first, then extension before the season begins. We know it's going to happen since Ozzy has such a good track record of getting a deal done before the franchise tag deadline.

Lock up Flacco with an extension. He still has one more year, but he deserves an extension.

Re-sign Grubbs. We might or might not have enough room for this, but we should make our best effort to re-sign him.

Keep either Birk or Gurode.

Try and re-sign JJ and Redding if the money isn't too bad.

Honestly, I don't think there are any big name free agents out there that the Ravens should even consider looking at. Anything they'd look to spend on a big name to come in would likely be better spent on re-signing people who are already here.

I'd be more concerned about looking into the draft to pick up some young talent, a middle linebacker to play alongside and learn from Ray Lewis (assuming he doesn't retire,) a left tackle since I don't think Oher will move back over there after McKinnie leaves... and that's about it. Maybe a defensive end to play on the other side of Suggs if Redding leaves, except we have McPhee. So... yeah. This team is young and has depth. I don't know what more you could ask for on a roster.

I don't know how much money will be left over after they sign Rice and Grubbs. I'm sure they could try to pick up a LB, C, and KR in the draft.

Our first priority is signing Grubbs in my opinion, Tag Rice, start talks with Flaccos agent.

Birk retires, Gurode is new center.

If Reed and Lewis come back, I don't see any big splashes in free agency.

i think we should try and get Adrian Peterson
Peterson was inked to a 100M dollar extension before the season.

We need to sign our own players before bringing in anyone else. Rice and Grubbs are top priorities with Flacco as another possible extension. JJ, Redding, and Birk deserve some consideration with JJ being top priority of those 3 in my opinion. Birk may retire, but if he doesn't he is still playing at a high level. I think McClain may be a FA as well but I'm not sure about that. If so I think we need to sign him, he is a valuable part of our defense.

Besides, despite the fact that I think that Adrian Peterson is a better running back than Ray Rice, I would still rather have Ray Rice on the Ravens than Adrian Peterson.

Trade Troy Smith and a third round pick to Green Bay for Aaron Rodgers. Oh wait we don't have Troy anymore right? Ok then I guess we'll have to part with Eron Riley even though I think he would be a future star reciever! That's not too much to give is it?

Demetrius Bell out of Buffalo would be a nice pickup if we could land him. John Abraham's contract is up, and he will be 34 next year. If the Falcons don't make it this year, they've already committed a lot to Ray Edwards, and I don't know what Abraham would be thinking. But I think if he came in for a small price as a situational pass rusher (I know he was in the pro bowl last year, but it was his first in 6 years), he'd do well here. Scott Wells, the center for Green Bay is undersized, but has played well the last few years. Again, it would depend on what Green Bay is thinking - he's 30, and Ted Thompson seems to prefer younger players (only 7 guys on their roster will be 30 or older next year, including Driver who might hang it up).

Just my opinion but I don't think we have a need for a 30yo center. We need to find the guy who will be "the future" of that position, probably through the draft. Bell wouldn't be a bad pickup but it would depend on the price.

Try to build some OL depth with quality backups and probably look at LT position for the future.

I want offensive line depth and I want an inside linebacker. I'm not entirely comfortable with Ellerbe and McClain. I'd like to still have a veteran presence at linebacker, assuming Ray retires. I don't know who, but thats what I want. A LT and a center would be nice too.

Grubbs and Rice. No offense, but Flacco can wait til his contract is up like everyone else. I would also try and bring back both McClain and Ellerbe dependent on contract demands. We have a quite a few UFAs this offseason. With the people we need to resign I can't see us offering JJ the kind of contract he would expect with Kruger playing the way he is. I see Kruger starting and Kindle falling into what Krugers role is this year. Don't forget Fox is probably gone and Ray will retire so the money shouldn't be that bad. I see us picking up less known quality players that fit our scheme but will have to wait to see whos out there. Highly doubt any big name pickups though.
