God Bless Joe Flacco For This

Its just when someone like Suggs says it, you're like cool.

But Flacco is in the middle of the worst year of his career thus far. (statistically at least) Thats just something he shouldn't be worried about.
Worst statistically but, when the Ravens are having their best season in years, it deserves to be recognized. I don't think he was trying to direct attention to himself, rather, the team. And he's been pretty good, lately, riding a 4-game win streak with QB ratings of 100+ in 3/4 of those games.

I still maintain that it's being blown way out of proportion. If Flacco had left the Tebow comment/example out of it, the story wouldn't have made it past the stations website.

This is being taken way out of context... Flacco was pointing out a true fact, and everyone takes it as a bash on Tebow. He was just using Tebowmania as an example. Ugh, the media...

I hate to say it, but Joe opened the floodgates a little bit. Whatever, I feel a huge game from him this weekend.

I'm glad Joe said something we all support what he has to say and what he means by it. Its being blown out of proportion i watched the interview myself on WNST.net and i agree with 100% we all said what he said after we beat the Steeler's nothing but Giants are great beating the patriots and crap.

I know Joe is frustrated, and so am i with this guy. The more you talk about him, the more popular he gets. Joe shouldn't have said anything just focus on winning ball games, and you my friend will be all the talk in this league.

You know, I LOVE Tim Tebow as a person. I'm not a religious guy myself, but I respect the level of faith he has, and nobody but Marion Barber can say he isn't exciting to watch. But man, everyone talks about him literally ALL THE TIME. Good on you, Joe. It's just another thing to point to when explaining to people: Joe Flacco really, really just does not care what you think. At all. You asked him a question, he's gonna give you the God's-honest truth as he sees it, and if you like it then dynamite! That's great. If you don't like it, then eh, whatever, I'mma just gonna go over here and win football games on Sunday, a'ight?

Reminds me a little bit of Mason. Remember when he came right out and said that we were stinking on offense and we shouldn't be? Mase kept it real. When we got rid of him, it was like a light when on in Joe's mind and he realized that no one else would be around to keep everyone accountable. So he was like, well screw it, guess it's my job. And he put on a pair of aviators, grew a fu manchu just because he could, and went out to do exactly that.

honestly, the Ravens don't deserve respect for sweeping pittsburgh if pittsburgh still wins the division.
Kinda agree. The sweep means little if pitt gets homefield. Means less if pitt and not baltimore goes to indy.

Again I like joe's passion but the goal isnt espn's respect, its a lombardi trophy.

Half the media is calling Flacco a hater. But in all honesty, Flacco is right (in my opinion). They (the media) hype up a rookie over seasoned vets because 1) his name looks and sounds rare: "Tebow". And 2) he prays a lot (Ray Lewis does more in my opinion). And 3) his team is on a winning streak... like there isn't any other team on a better winning streak than the Denver Broncos. Let em "use" Tebow for what they want from him. But once the Bronco's get on a losing streak...................>>>>>>>>>>>

Great line from another message board :

" I swear Tebow is the most watched white Bronco since the OJ Simpson car chase. "

He told it like it is, I love it. Anyone saying otherwise is either high on Tebowmania or just plain dumb.
Pretty sure even the fans who hate the Ravens would agree. Only the one really angry Steeler fan would call him out, when in reality, it's the truth.
Anyone who saw the context of the interview would know what he was just making an example of the Tebowmaniawhen he was actually ASKED a question by the radio station. Do you think he's jealous of some mediocre quarterback winning against subpar defenses? Bears handed it to him, no joke.
Either way, keep on talkin' Joe. The people heard you and they (mostly) agree.

Hahaha ... until I read that, this was the favorite comment I'd seen today:

"I just feel bad for the Bills. They have to play Tebow Christmas Eve, there's no way the Bills are beating him the day before his birthday"

I actually kinda like the lack of faith on us. Don't get me wrong, I like Joe for finally saying something about it. But think about it, don't we like being the underdogs? We've lost 3/5 games vs a below .500 team, and won every single one vs a winning team.
Bottom line is, I don't care what the media thinks about us, I love my team, I love my quarterback, and I love my coaching staff, and I do believe we'll make it to the Super bowl.

Joe just shouldn't say anything. Whatever he says gets blown waaay out of proportion, every single time. Vince Young calls the Eagles' the "Dream Team", it hardly gets noticed. James Harrison badmouths Roethlisberger then claims his words were twisted, and it's never brought up again. Joe is asked a few things, like would you like a contract extension, and do the Ravens need an elite quarterback to win, and what do you think of the Tebow mania. He answers, "yes, I think the Ravens know who I am, and if they like me, they should extend me soon rather than later. I am an elite quarterback. I like Tebow, but I would like to see more media coverage of other players and teams, especially the Ravens, instead of all of this Tebow talk all the time." What does it turn into? Joe Flacco whines about contract extension. Joe Flacco demands long term deal. Joe Flacco thinks he's Tom Brady. Joe Flacco has no respect for Tim Tebow. Joe Flacco disrespects the Broncos. The media, IMO, dislikes Joe. I've said this 100 times, but the only people I ever see giving Flacco credit are former quarterbacks like Jaws, Trent Dilfer, Steve Young, Joe Thiesmann, Phil Simms, Kurt Warner. People who played the position say good things about him. Everyone else disrespects him. So, he should just keep his mouth shut and let the Superbowl rings he wins do the talking for him.

Although, I do understand that he's frustrated at winning 40 games over the past 4 years, beaten the Steelers 4 times including twice this year with Roethlisberger and almost knocking off the Tom Brady led Patriots 2 years in a row (Clayton dropped pass, last year when we had a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter and Cam became Cam), and being called a game manager qb while a guy who has won like 10 games in his career against BAD teams (Houston, Miami, KC, Oakland, the Jets, the Christian Ponder led Vikings, and the Caleb Hannie led Bears).

Anybody else heard Flacco sound off?

He said something to the effect of:

I like Tebow, I don't want to see him fail or anything but I turn it on ESPN and it's Tebow ( another topic) Tebow, another topic , Tebow.
Its crazy. But when we beat the Steelers I swear I didn't see one mention of it anywhere. I guess that's just how it is here for us in Baltimore we don't get the respect.

I'm sure this might be the same interview lol I almost created the topic then notice this.

Tim Tebow is talked about just as much as Tiger Woods was last yr. it's getting really sad... It's to the point that u actually go against him....

This week I want The Patriots to beat them down, ( so that I don't have to hear media circus ) but I also want the patriots to lose for purposes of playoffs seedlings etc....

Where is Dennis Green when you need him?

If the Media wanna Crown Tim Tebow go ahead and Crown him already, but. Every team has had them Beat until they switch to Prevent Defenses ( and it prevented them from winning lol)

I really do hope that the Broncos win this week so that the Ravens will still fly under the radar. This team feeds off of disrespect and the more Tebow coverage there is, the more disrespected the team is going to feel, even though a Broncos victory puts us in even better position as far as playoff seeding goes.

Tebow will face either the Steelers or Ravens in the first round. That will end the Tebowmania magic. Can anyone say exposed? lol

I really can't stand all the Flacco hate and it is hate. He answers a question, they blow everything he says out of proportion, twist it this way and that and try to make the kid look stupid, jealous, whiny etc. Bury those Chargers Joe. Show them who you are one week at a time until the confetti drops in Indy.

Joe should just ignore the media issues and concentrate on football. I'm not criticizing him for what he said, after all the NFL is a media driven league and he pretty much has to do interviews. But complaining about Tebow's exposure and the lack of coverage of the Ravens was bound to be turned back against him by the spin doctors.

It's a fact of life that the media is going to play up whatever is the hottest to the most people in the market. Not just true in the NFL, but also true in anything that is reported.

This was my point. This is what Flacco has always done, never disrespected anybody but always speaks his mind. And the media has always blown it out of proportion.

Yeah Flacco in the media is pretty much like this.... Oh he threw interception but he is emotionless ( I guess he doesn't care, he always makes these mistakes ). Flacco goes on game winning drive, Ravens defense holds on.... ( or they show Big Ben. Td right before it make it seem like steelers were dominating. ) smh.
Flacco speaks up talking confidently and he is portrayed as arrogant without achievement. Told to stay in his place, because he isn't "elite" then the media turns around and says how someone on the offense needs to step and be a leader.

They've built a box where he can never be right!

There is such a double standard for Flacco in the media, and I'm not quite sure why. Flacco and Tebow are pretty similar. Both are backed up by a great defense, don't have amazing stats but have won games, and both have comebacks (Tebow obviously has more, but Flacco has some this year). And yet Tebow gets all the credit despite his worse stats and record. When Flacco wins, they say "The defense carried him." When Tebow wins, they say "He just wins."

Similarly, when Flacco does stuff like this people get annoyed. He was simply answering a question in an interview, he's a low key guy who definitely doesn't really care what the media thinks. And yet when he speaks out it's described as whining, but when James Harrison does he's just "speaking his mind." There's a lot of double standards for Flacco and, like I said, I'm not really sure why.

But in the end it doesn't matter. He'll demand their respect when we win the superbowl this year.

You know, I think this is going to get interesting over the next few days. It's almost like with Flacco, a fellow QB, coming out and saying something that the cork is further out of the bottle. Now Jermichael Finley chimes in calling the Tebow coverage "kind of disturbing".

If the Pats go in and seriously expose the Broncos, it will be interesting to see what the media world does (blame Tebow or blame the Denver defense).

Oh don't worry, the media world will blame Tebow. They may be on his hype train now but we all know they are waiting for him to screw up and once he does they will turn into hypocrites and start bashing Tebow. The minute he screws up, the media is going to reverse their course and go from loving Tebow every day to hating on him everyday. They are just DYING waiting for Tebow to screw up.

Oh boy Jermichael Finley now is saying something...... there goes 16-0 out the window, will these players learn to not upset the higher power.

LOL.. the Packers are not going to lose a game due to upsetting the 'higher power'. No way in heck. If they lose, its because Rodgers got injured, not because of some unforeseen force. I do believe in God, but I think he could care a less about who wins/loses a football game... hopefully you're just joking man. Tebow is overrated btw. My new nickname for him is The Overrated One.

It is pretty absurd the way things are perceived. Remember when Aaron Rodgers got beaten by Kurt Warner in that crazy shootout in 2009? People were actually talking about Aaron Rodgers like "he's never won anything, he has to prove that he can win playoff games." Are you joking? The guy just put up 45 points, lost to a HOF QB on one bad play at the end, and all of a sudden his abilities are questioned? That's how people are with football, completely nonsensical. They make inferences based on ridiculously small sample sizes.

If you flip a coin twice and it comes up heads both times, that's not shocking. That's not significantly unlikely. But when Flacco doesn't beat the Steelers in the playoffs in TWO attempts, one of them when he was a rookie, he clearly "can't get it done" in the eyes of some.

And Woodley is a loser, he's not even playing right now and he's trying to pick on Flacco? How'd that go last time, when you said he could never get through the Steelers? Rethinking that comment now after the sweep, big shot?
