The last line at the end was a total knock on Flacco, as if he's not doing anything on the field... wow.
And that's exactly what Flacco's talking about!!

All hail Flacco.

I agree. I love Flacco. He says what we're all thinking, he says what he believes, he says what's on his mind, he never says things just because it's the politically correct or businesslike thing to say. He is asked a question and he always answers earnestly and honestly. The more we get to know him and the more he is interviewed, the more it's becoming evident that he has his own brand of public personality, it's getting to the point where I could read a lot of articles just like this one or like the one on the Scott Van Pelt show where he said something along the lines of "Yeah, I'd say I'm a Top 5 QB, and I think every QB should believe that about themselves" and if they referred to the player as Anonymous, I think at this point I could identify a Joe Flacco comment. He's starting to brand himself. And I love his sense of humor and his fearlessness to just have fun with the game and with his life the way he wants to (Fu Manchu stache, dressing up as The Situation, agreeing to name his first baby after Snooki if that's what the fans vote for, other silliness like that) and not give a care how the world sees him for it. He's great.

I'm stuck with ESPN while at school and all they can talk about is how awesome Tebow is. After each side presents their arguements, every segment ends with some clown host saying "well, we'll see how it turns out - it's going to be a fun ride". That's ESPN all day, every day.

Go get 'em, Joe. But, be warned, Tebow finds your lack of faith disturbing.

------------------------------
In any case, I think the broader point Flacco was making is that Baltimore gets no media love - he was just using Tebowmania as an example. Look at the difference in titles between PFT and NFL.com and Sports Radio Interviews:

PFT: Flacco complains about Tebow coverage

which sourced nfl.com...

NFL: Flacco on Ravens: 'We don't always get our respect'

which sourced Sports Radio Interviews...

SRI: Joe Flacco: "I think we're disrespected as an organization when it comes to the media"

PFT pushing everything to be a Tebow post - the site's become crap, they just re-report what someone else has with a little blogger opinion for flavor. Anyways, Flacco's right. The Ravens don't get a lot of coverage because they're not glamorous and they're a small market. They're often disrespected or overlooked because of it. Frankly, it's disgusting - especially with the TV deals - where I have to watch a half-empty Redskins game while M&T Bank is rocking less than an hour up the road (that's another issue and one I have whined about excessively).

He's not wrong, but it wasn't smart to say anything about it.
Ever heard of "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"? The media isn't responsible or held accountable for almost anything. It takes action to make change.

Not smart how? Tebow can't smite him and I couldn't care less what Mike Florio or some clown PFT commenters think.

He didn't even bash Tebow.

I guess the one bright spot is we collapse and hand Pittsburgh the division is we will travel to Denver in the first round of the playoffs. We would absolutely destroy them.

Uh-Oh.... Joe you do not want to upset the Higher Power, if he is giving Tebow powers to pull wins out of nowhere and make defenses forget how to play defense, I can't imagine what the Higher Power would do to people who speak badly of Tebow....... if we lose to the Chargers on Sunday, we'll know why.

Nice job Joe and yeah, what was with the dig on Flacco at the end of the article? A bit unnecessary.

Flacco has been playing great lately and if he continues it against Rivers more people will take notice after a prime time game. He can do it. This team is starting to roll. Out young tight ends and all of Joe's new recievers aside from Boldin are starting to gel.

Man, I can't wait for this game!

Great Post,

See even our own TEAM thinks we dont get any respect, SUGGS was the first to say it. I think i would rage more if they started jumping on the bandwagon, this aint the STEALERS , we dont want any band wagoners. RAVENS NATION IS FULL ANYWAYS. We dont want any chump fans.

Hey I love it. Hopefully the more grief Flacco gets the better the team will gel. These guys seem like a really close-knit group on a mission. Glad to see Joe continuing to step up as a leader of this team, I am sure he is not afraid of the heat and guys like Sizzle and Ray are completely behind Flacco. If you look at Joe's demeanor this year, his comments, he's a different guy. He's emerging as a leader. This team has some flaws but I think mentally they are in the right place.

i am definitely starting to tire of hearing about the guy. i don't dislike him, i just don't care for the media's handling of the situation and how every time i watch total access or anything else on nfl network i have to hear "tim tebow" and about what flavour coffee he prefers with his breakfast, every 5 minutes or less. somebody had to step in and say something at some point, so power to joe for having the stones to do it.

with any luck other players will start following suit and the media will realize how mickey mouse it is to devote this much coverage to the guy. probably won't happen, but we can hope...

What I love is that a lot of the media are taking parts of answers from two different questions, putting them together and making it sound like Flacco is saying 'We are being disrespected because they only cover Tebow.'

So, in essence, they took an interview about a lot of things and did just what he is talking about. Made it about Tebow.

Im a Falcon fan and i totally agree with Joe.... I blame skip bayless... ESPN has become ridiculously in love with Tebow... I like Tebow... He has to improve as a QB but i like him as a person... Fans have the guy 3rd in AFC probowl voting at the QB position... Thats nuts to me... His team is winning.. They should get props for that but the Tebow love espn is doing is crazy
