Feels right to me.

Some were calling for multiple games and some wanted only a fine but I think they got it right this time.

So the Steelers are playing without Harrison, and either without Ben or with a hobbled Ben... In San Francisco... Not sure how the Ben situation will effect the offense against the San Francisco defense, it might not go well for them, especially after they struggled against the Browns last week. But, a Ravens team without Ray Lewis achieved 9 sacks against the 49er's, so I can see the Steelers having a field day in that regard without Harrison, as well. Woodley is back to full strength and has played very well when Harrison is out in the past. I see at least 4 sacks against Smith. This should be another very low scoring game. If it was in Pittsburgh, I'd say Steelers will probably win it, but since it's in San Francisco, I can see it going either way. For some reason I just can't bring myself to have any confidence that the 49er's will win it, but at least I also don't have confidence the Steelers will.

Go 49er's!

I don't know if Woodley or Pouncey plays as well. Woodley rushed it back to early a few games back and had a set back. Pouncey has a high ankle sprain which is bad news for an O-Line man.

So they could very well be without Big Ben, Woodley, Harrison, Pouncey. Is more important for the Steelers to win the division and further injure players. Or is it more important to get these guys healthy for a playoff run. I would have to believe the latter.

It is important for them to not let the Ravens to have a home game throughout the playoff, and that's their highest priority even if it costs them the loss of most of their star players for the season.....

"17 games, 1000+ snaps, 100+ tackles, 12+ sacks and 2 forces fumbles since my last incident and I get a suspension for a football play!" - I just simply wrote "correct!" :D

What?

They're going to risk losing their star players for the season just to HOPE we drop one more game? You do realise home field advantage does nothing for them if they're without Ben, Pouncey and Woodley?

Most of your posts are very thoughtful, but you and the other Raven's fans who keep posting like the Steelers don't care about the health of their players are way out in left field. All this really reveals is your hope that the Steelers are missing 5-7 key guys for the niners game...thats it and thats all. The Steeler hatred in here blinds you folks to complete in objectivity. (I know, i know, its a ravens forum, why should i expect anything else). But seriously, you can't actually think Rooney and Tomlin are sitting there saying, "who gives a rip about our 2 time SB winning franchise QB in the long run, LETS WIN THIS FREAKING GAME AT ALL COSTS". There is no way you can actually believe that....

Ofcourse I think they really care about the injuries. They surely do (I am guilty of exaggerating at times). But how much of an emphasis do they have on needing to win right now to get home field rather than resting their stars to make sure they are nearer to 100% come playoff time.

Woodley, Big Ben, Pouncey all have injuries which can very easily be further damaged without rest.

And yes, it would please me to see a ton of guys missing from the 49ers game. But I am thinking objectively in terms of what they should do. I'm not saying either way is right or wrong. The Steelers know they can go on the road and win a Super Bowl (they've done it before). So why risk a chance to even get that shot?

Harrison is so dense. All he has to do is properly tackle and this all goes away. HE doesnt know how and he doesnt care to learn. All he is doing is hurting himself and his team. Know the rules, its not that hard.

At this rate, all Alex Smith needs to do is not lose the game... if San Fran turns the ball over, it won't matter who's playing for Pitt.

From the Browns game, my perception about them is they would careless about anything but winning and pressuring the Ravens in hope to drop 1 game for them.

There is no sure win in NFL but a home field advantage for our boys is like food is ready to be served on Thanksgiving..... The Stealers knew what's like to play in M&T bank stadium.

Alex is a game manager and he won't turn the ball over; Jim will pound the ball on the Stealers defense regardless....

Again, the No.1 seed is pointless if you're losing all you're top players to get it. What position do you think the Texans would rather be in right now: 4th seed with all their Key players (Williams, Johnson, Schaub) healthy for the playoffs, or where they are now? T.J Yates is not capable of beating a legitimate playoff calibre team in crunch time, despite what the media says about him thanks to the Bengals beat-up secondary.

Then answer me why the Stealers still kept Ben in the game when he's clearly suffered high sprained ankle? the dude was limbing to hand ball to his RB; he was lucky the Browns pass rushers didn't run over him.....

You are comparing the Texans and the Stealers of which two have different approach about the game.....it's irrelevant for Pitts loves on your perspective view....

I , for one , don't believe they'd be so foolish. But let's be clear - if Ben plays on Monday , it necessarily means that there is no danger of compounding the injury or limiting his recovery , otherwise Tomlin wouldn't let him play. That in turn means , according to the medical authorities , that Ben did not have a "high ankle sprain" , he instead had a high ankle bruise , or a high ankle booboo , or something similarly insignificant .

This is important , because Ben's performance last week might well qualify him for nomination in the next Academy Awards.

Maybe because he could walk and if Big Ben can walk then he's going to play unless you strap him to the bench. I hate the guy, but he's a tough-as-nails competitor. I'm pretty sure they didn't know the severity of the injury 'til after the game.

No, I'm addressing your point. You say the Steelers are willing to sacrifice their best players for the No.1 seed and I'm saying the Texans, like EVERY NFL team, would trade the No.1 (for a lower seed e.g. 5th like the Steelers will get if we win out) seed for their best players being healthy.

And when he is getting announced at the Academy Awards they'll put up that video of a 3D person and go into detail about the injuries he's suffered.

I feel like I've seen that snipet on every primetime Steelers game for the past three years.

Logically, who wouldn't want their star players healthy for playoff run? if Harbs did that like the Stealers did to his players, i'll be mad at hell for risking the longevity of their football career.

I never argue the fact the keeping star players healthy is common sense thing to do in that situation but the Stealers treating the player in the Browns game gave me even bad impression from them....Obviously, winning is their priority right now as indicated.....

Yeah, but they clearly didn't think that continuing to play Roethlisberger would make his ankle any worse.

I think they care about the health of their players. I also think that the team doesn't listen to anything the Roethlisberger says and instead listens to their medical staff. Ben overstates every injury he has ever had .. ignore that. If they sent him back out, he wasn't in any real danger of further damaging that ankle from just playing. Notice they didn't bring Pouncey back out. Ben is like the anti-Jim Brown. Brown never let on when he was hurt, no matter how bad it was. Roethlisberger can't wait to explain how excruciatingly painful something is otherwise, you can't be "Iron Man" when you play with it.

As for Harrison. I saw his statement and I think him and his supporters miss a point. It's not just one hit. It's that he has said time and again, very publicly, that he is not going to change. Not going to do it. Fine, you're not going to change. Shut up about it. Opening your mouth is just open defiance of what the League is ordering. So you get a suspension. Do it again this year and it'll probably be 2-3 games because he is still saying "I'm not changing."

Am I the only one that feels that the Steelers playing like the league is out to get them and the NFL is trying to stop teams playing physical football is a little hypocritical, when they have a quarterback who arguably benefits more than anyone in the league from the rules on how you can hit him. Roethlisberger's "pocket mobility" and "ability to avoid sacks" often comes down to the limits placed on defenders. If defenders went after Ben the way Harrison went after McCoy, I think he'd take an awful lot more sacks than he does now.

Um...let's recount. Taylor, motionless, out cold on the field. Steelers: "Oh it's just a stinger". Taylor comes back in and it is beyond obvious that he is not really "there". Ben. Leg twisted in a manner that no leg should bend. Serious swelling, serious pain. Back to the locker room. Oh no break? Okay, shoot 'em up and put him back on the field boys! Woodley. Rushed back too soon and re-injured himself. Pouncey. Limping, visibly in pain, on the field. Yes, I know he shook his head about leaving but c'mon man. They should have taken that man out and at the very least evaluated him on the sidelines. Possibly they could have avoided it being as bad as it now seems if they hadn't left him out on the field. Do you understand how serious even a mild high ankle sprain can become if it is not treated properly and promptly? Yet, they will risk Ben's season and possibly career for that game on Monday. And he's already said that he has put it in their hands. They have been hiding behind terms like "stinger" and "concussion like symptoms" all season. So no. It is not out of left field to say they are not showing any concern for their players.

So, hypothetical. Ben plays. I think we can both agree that the 49ers are NOT the Browns. He takes a hit or two, a sack, and now he's out for the rest of the season. You still there with the LOL? Don't think so.
