Black Uniforms For Playoffs?

Hey Guys,

I know it's early to talk about playoffs, but I was looking into what the rules are for alternative jerseys for the playoffs and I found this from wikipedia. I know that the current NFL rules says you can wear alternative up to three times a season, but doesn't explain about playoffs.

I don't know how accurate this source is, however, as a fan I think it would be great to just wear all black or Harbaugh black with white pants to get the scientific (Color black is good for the cold) and psychological advantages (We're undefeated with our black uniforms under Harbaugh). The color black is proven to absorb heat better than any other color, which proves vital in cold climate. Also, our record with our black jerseys under John Harbaugh is a perfect 6-0. In addition, we never played our black jerseys in the playoffs, so maybe this is the year to finally break them out.

I think that they should have it a tradition to wear the black colors in the playoff.. The team just does better when they look good. They look good in all black!

They do look good in all black. I think it should be our new playoff tradition. I am totally down with this. I hope they do it!

Man.. I was thinking the exact same thing and was gonna start a topic on this myself. I definitely think we should wear our all black threw out the playoffs. If we get the 1 seed we would only have 2 games to play. So I think they should really consider this if we get that 1 seed.

Just to get it out there, this'll be the first of many posts to state that it doesn't matter what color jersey the Ravens wear, as long as they get to the big dance.

That said, it would be nice to see the black jerseys for a game, but I wouldn't want to wear them for the entire playoff run.

Why not be proud of our colors and rep the purple? Why be ashamed of the purple and embrace a generic color that [i]every[/i] team has?

Yes, the black jerseys look cool -- but that doesn't mean that they're that much better than the purple jerseys, nor should we shy away from the purple that makes us so distinctly different from the Steelers, Saints, Bengals, insert-your-team-here-that-regularly-wears-black.

Not only that, I think the team specifically has to designate when they are going to where the jerseys and can only wear them a certain amount of times. Playoffs prohibiting any type of alternate jerseys.

That's what this thread is about. You can wear whatever jersey you want in the playoffs, as long as it doesn't conflict with the opponents' and its not the Super Bowl.

I think we should do black in the divisional round and purple in the AFCC personally. Unless we play someone wearing black in the divisional (like Pitt....Although I don't think we can see them pre-AFCC if we both win out).

On a side-note... when Nike finally gives the much needed update to the Ravens uniforms next year, all those who get tired of hearing about the black uniforms can rejoice.

Or perhaps they'll just complain about the new uniforms too. But I'm pretty excited to see what they look like.

That's right, the Ravens colors are PURPLE and black. Purple is first for a reason. But, seriously, what difference does it make? Stressing about jersey colors is comical. At least it makes me laugh.

Yeah they are probably up there with the black on black, think both sets look awesome.Depicts a great picture of organized chaos or a bad to the bone defense.. I can't stand the Black on White.

I love black on black or purple on black and our normal purple on white and kinda like black jersey with white pants but I can not stand white jersey on black pants!! Imo it looks weird and dont give me confidence as a fan to watch if that makes any sense!? But I also dont mind all white

If we're going to wear the black jerseys then we have to wear the black pants as well. There's no contest between that combination and the black jersey/white pants.

I actually like those original Black pants with the big wide White stripe. I thought it was unique, but it did not last long. Too bad they had that lawsuit, so they probably can't do a true throwback.

never understood why cats in here hate on discussions about jersey colors. smh! with that being said...black is a power color! therefore, i absolutely LOVE our Ravens wearing black. here are a few combos that i like:

black jerseys w/black pants
black jerseys w/white pants
purple jerseys w/black pants

We couldn't bring that back even if we tried. A federal court ruled against us on copyright infringement regarding that logo.

Very true , but if the team chose to they could still use the black pants with large white strip, the original jersey with wings on the numbers and the raven bird with wings on the sleeves.

The only thing they can't use is the non-professional looking original logo

Nothing unique about it, probably over a third of the teams in the league have black. The Cardinals for example
