John Call Your Brother

66 posts in this topic

John it's time to call your bother and ask for your Christmas gift early this year. Tell him that if he doesn't want to find lump coal in his stocking come the morning of the 25th, Santa demands that the 49ers decimate the squeelers next weekend.

I hear raindeer turds are very hard to clean off your roof, and nobody wants raindeer turds on their roof now do they Jim..... Beat the squeelers for us please!!

They're brothers, I'm sure John will find someway to push his buttons. "Oh you're playing the Steelers this week? We beat them twice, one time 35-7. It sure would take a terrible team to lose to them at home, am I right."

If a lot of the Ravens fans are so extremely confident that their team is going to win out these last 3 games of the season then why are they so concerned about wanting the Niners to beat the Steelers so badly?? If the Ravens win out like everybody on here keeps saying they will then what happens in the Niners Steelers game wont be anything.

Jim has some game tape from the pre-season finale where they squeaked past the Chargers to trade. I don't think the Chargers are all that tough. They did lose 6 straight games.

Get it in your head...we ALWAYS want the Steelers to lose...whether it's us putting the win on you or someone else.

That being said, the Niners aren't going to have an easy time, especially if Willis can't go.

John should have called Jim up and gave him advice on how to beat Arizona seeing that he laid an egg yesterday in Zona with John Skelton playing QB for Arizona. If youre San Francisco and have Super Bowl asperations and are playing to get a bye week in the playoffs you absolutely cannot go into Arizona and lose that game yesterday especially to a back up QB and having a 12 point lead going into the 4th quarter. Makes me feel a little bit better about the Steelers game with the Niners a week from tonight after seeing the Niners [profanity deleted] the bed against an Arizona team that they definitely should have beaten with so much at stake...

The 49ers losing to the Cardinals makes this game even more important than it was before. They lose this game they can kiss home field goodbye. Plus they were embarrassed. I'm very excited to watch this game. I'm happy the Ravens game isn't coinciding.

Here is the difference though the Steelers absolutely NEED the Ravens to lose at least one more game to have a chance to win the division assuming they win out. The Ravens dont need the Steelers to lose at least one more game to secure the division because if they win out it doesnt matter if the Steelers win out as well since they own the tiebraker. That's the difference...

You're confusing playoff scenarios with fan feelings. Personally, second to the Ravens winning, seeing the Steelers lose is about as good as it gets in the NFL-world.

I doubt anything that John tells Jim is going to make that much of a difference in this game anyway it's all just wishful thinking when all is said and done. At the end of the day it still is going to come down to how the players execute on the field and the talent level that is on there. If the game comes down to a QB matchup and which QB can make more plays to win Ill take Ben Roethlisberger anyday of the week over Alex Smith. There is nothing that John can tell Jim there that is going to make any kind of difference. Now will John tell Jim a few things and try to help him out?? Absolutely, do I think it will have any barring on the outcome at all of this game absolutely not...

If that helps you sleep at night so be it. The fact remains you will most likely be without Woodley and Harrison, Ben will be extremely hindered (if he even plays), and you're facing a team that's pissed off and fighting for homefield. Goodluck with that.

You're scared of the Niners and even more anxious at the thought of the Harbaugh clan collaborating to beat your precious Steelers.

don't you think that we Ravens fans know this?

of course, we know that the Ravens don't need the steelers to lose to win the division BUT we don't want the steelers to have another opportunity to win the division. why would we? so of course, we want another steeler loss, just like you want another Ravens loss. c'mon bruh! that is just common sense.

Wallace seriously? is there anywhere in the world there isnt a steelers fan? the biggest fad in the history of the world is to be a steelers fan. back to the topic, We know what the team needs to do and to see the steelers lose and allow us a cushion against the bengals week 17 would be huge resting the starters preventing possible injuries is all apart of the things that could be at stake monday night so yes i hope John sends a few tapes and emails Jim's way but priority #1 is San Diego duh.

Sounds like somebody is extremely worried.........I don't disagree with you about the information sharing. There really is no information. But John can do his part to fire up Jim.

Originally I gave the Steelers the edge in this game. But the lack of mobility by Ben will be huge out there. This 49ers defense isn't like the Browns. They can get to the QB with the first hit, but they struggle with QBs who can get out of the pocket.

Plus I wouldn't be so sure that Ben finishes this game. I've seen several cases this year with guys playing on high ankle sprains only to leave before the game is over. Very easy to agitate this injury (which he probably shouldn't even be playing on in the first place).

I'm sure John and Jim have been discussing Steelers strategy for a while, or at least since after the Thanksgiving Day game. Besides, it seems like their father, Jack, has been looking at and diagnosing the Steelers for at least 2 weeks a year 4 years running now. I'm sure he also has some ideas on how to play well against the Steelers.

Honestly, part of me does wish that both the Ravens and Steelers win out, and that the Texans and Patriots each lose one more game. Suddenly the Steelers are tied for the best record in the AFC, but drop down to the 5th seed. It might spark some more conversation of possible removing automatic home playoff games for division winners.

That being said, on the original topic, I'm sure John will share some tidbits with Jim to try and give the 49ers a little bit of an edge. If I recall correctly, they more or less explicitly said they'd trade comments about future opponents after Thanksgiving.

The Harbaugh's are 0-4 against the Steelers lifetime in the playoffs is all I know. John is 0-2 as we all know losing in 2008 and 2010 and Jim lost back to back years in 1995 and 1996 when he was the QB for the Colts while playing the Steelers. Im not worried about the Harbaugh's and their little "cliq" of breaking down film...John has his own problems this week and he had better put his complete and total focus on doing what he needs to do to beat the Chargers and not worrying about telling his brother what he needs to do to beat the Steelers.

If the Seahawks gettting a home playoff game last year didn't change things, nothing will.
