While it is true that we haven't won 5 in a row in the so-called "Harbaugh" Era which began almost six years ago now, the Harbaugh Error really started this year and has just begun. With all due respect to the coach, he has been the beneficiary of many gifted athletes who finally carried him to the SB. He really didn't have to do much true coaching but he was a darn good cheerleader. Now that many of the most gifted athletes have retired, e.g., Ray Lewis and Matt Birk, or been gifted to his brother's team, e.g., Anquan Boldin, or lost to free agency, he will have to start coaching some of his own players, viz a viz, players he inherited. Since he started six years ago, his record is remarkable at 62-33 but it really doesn't tell the entire story. Under his new Error, he is now 8-7 with an 8-8 season staring him in the face. Football is a business and like any other business what you did yesterday doesn't matter. In other words, there's no such thing as the status quo. The team is either getting better or it is getting worse. Which is it, Coach? Harbaugh should be judged just like other managers of major corporations who are judged on the basis of "what have you done for me lately." Today's loss was embarrassing at many different levels --- the execution, the officiating again, the play-calling and the coaching. It wasn't that we lost but how we lost that is the most embarrassing.

BTW, why did our coaches eschew a FG in the 3rd quarter with almost two quarters to play but then decide to go for a FG in the 4th quarter? My Pop Warner football team had better coaching than that. Well, here is the answer. Its called panic. The camera shot of John Harbaugh on the sidelines late in the game with the score at 20-7 speaks volumes about his confidence. His hands were folded as if he was praying for a miracle. That's fine for the average fan in the stands but its terrible body language for a coach. Yes, Coaches Harbaugh, Caldwell and Pees were outcoached again.  Terrible gameplan against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL! This story should not be about nine of our games that have been decided by 3 points or less. To the contrary, it should be about the numerous times elite players like Flacco, Smith, Jones and Tucker who have bailed out Coach Harbaugh at different times this year.

PS - Calling a TO in the 4th quarter when your team is ahead by 34-7 was a class act, Coach Belichek. This post script is for all of the NE trolls who would like to defend their coach's classiness. Oh, that's right! He would have been coaching here in BMore had he not deserted the club when they moved. Just glad he decided to go to the Patriots!

PPS --- Bad coaching doesn't usually improve with age. Best of luck going forward, Hardbaugh! Tanks for the memories, Coaches Lewis and Reed!

Brian Billick probably had more talent across the board then Harbs...
Who's had the better teams? Harbs. Who's been more consistent? Harbs.
The only area Billick didn't have covered was a decent QB... everywhere else, they were pretty solid.

I really don't put much weight into the 5 games in a row thing either but I agree that Harbaugh has some head-stratching decisions today and actually for the past few weeks. A lot of the failure this year stems from poor offensive line play (I really think Oz has been average with our draft classes in recent years in that department especially)

You really think you're being clever calling it an "error", don't you? And you're so impressed with your little nickname that you had to bold and underline it just to make sure the rest of the world can see it.

Never won 5 in a row but still have the most wins by a HC in first 6 years. (If it's not most it's 2nd or 3rd)

Winning 5 in a row doesn't matter when you are as consistent as we have been. For crying out loud, we are looking at having our 6th season in a row with at least a .500 record. How many teams have done that in the past 6 years? MAYBE New England? The Jags could put up 8 wins in that freaking division.

I agree the Harbaugh had some weeeeeird calls today, but maybe take a look and notice just how hard it is to get back to the dance, let alone win a playoff game the next year. Welcome to the salary cap era.

We've been spoiled by being quite successful, but to throw it all out the window for one "down year" (Which could still be 9-7, still be a trip to the playoffs, and then who knows what) means you don't get it. Consistency wins football games. Know why the Jags & Cleveland will likely reside forever in mediocrity? They fire everyone all the time.

Criticism where it's due, sure, but give your head a shake.

Eh, if I recall correctly, Modell fired Belichick shortly after he announced the move to Baltimore.  So, I'm not quite sure how he "deserted the club."

Harbaugh always looks and sounds great.......until the actual live game rounds are flying. Then he's making dumb decisions or mismanaging the game. I keep trying to stay on his side but he's getting worse and its making me furious! The coaching staff is awful this year period.

Just realized if we do win today and make the playoffs we can't win the Super Bowl because of this.
