What, need a tissue?

Why is it such a big milestone to win five games in a row? The Bills, Broncos and Jets have all been inconsistent winners. They haven't enjoyed the success that we've had in the post season. Our record through the past few years is far superior to those teams. What is so important about a five game win streak? I'd love to piece together a long win streak like that but it doesn't matter nearly as much as the record at the end of the season. Those three mediocre teams may have a five game win streak, but they don't have four straight playoff appearances.

By the way, the AFC North is one of the best divisions is football, if not the best. Three teams to the playoffs last year. Three teams out of four. Wow. Impressive, right? Both wildcard spots were AFC North teams. What does that tell you? The division has been won by three different teams in three years. What does that tell you?

Edit: Not that I really care, but it's interesting how I got negged twice for only stating facts here. Did I state any fallacies?
Your biggest fallacy was not conforming to the idea that our division is mediocre, and instead injected a little common sense into this thread.

Also, how can you not recognize the importance of winning five games in a row (as opposed to four or six)?? Even though we DID do it, it doesn't count cuz masterbH8R says postseason games dont count.

Where is masterbH8R anyway? The tissues are right next to his keyboard where they usually are on Friday nights while he's watching 'films'

Sending 3 teams could also mean maybe the conference is weak...

Aww, you need a hug! These big bad internet bullies have you feeling all sensitive cuz they don't agree with you!

Now just curious, why does it matter whether the streak occured in the regular season, postseason, or a mix thereof?
And why five games? Why not four or seven?
Well.. to be honest.. I was just going over each season one day of the Harbs era. I happen to notice a trend.. we have won 4 games in a row MANY times.. but that 5th game? in the regular season? Nope. Never happened. I just found it funny, because Billick lead teams did it a few times. Yet, we had a seesaw existence with Billick at the wheel ( and a ring) but he was a winner a BIG WINNER, just not every year. Where as Harbs has done a great job steadying the ship and taking us to the playoffs, but hasn't been able to do a couple things that Billick did.... Even though Harbs has had a FAR more complete team at his disposal ( maybe from his partial doing ).

Im not worried about Internet bullies.. lol. Lets be honest though , you've been trolling my posts. Right? : )

Come on Crynismo... repetition of crap doesn't make it anything more than crap... It's important because that's what the threads about. Hop off my knob, unless you're going to finish the job.

What about the two Steelers games? We already won those, have we? And after those "last two" we have the Broncos, the Giants and the Bengals, none of which are going to be pushovers, the way we have been playing (and with our injuries). Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but a big ol' storm cloud is coming through Ravensville. Hopefully Harbs get us up to weathering it.

Jaege, guess you didn't catch where you quoted a comment from Dec 2011? His comment was posted last season. Carry on.

Haha, I bet H8R wishes he hadn't necroed this trainwreck of a thread. For the record, a five game win streak is nothing but a cool 'stat' to have and isn't vital for any team....ever. Oh, and saying that the AFCN is one of the weakest divisions in football when the teams in it routinely end up in or near the playoffs every year is awesomely, hilariously laughable.

I feel fine about bringing it up....... I never said it was a precursor for Super Bowl.. It's an odd occurrence for a team that is one as much as we have. I never said AFC North was horrible... Most divisions are the same...

Eh, a win streak is nice, but as long as we get into the playoffs with at least 1, and hopefully all home Festivus games, record and win streak #s don't mean much.

I think there are 5 or 6 games remaining that are just as tough as the chargers game. The last 7 games have to be the toughest schedule played by any team this year. We've limped to the bye with a pretty good record and now comes the real test.

As long as we never lose 4 games in a row, I couldn't care less about never having a 5-game winning streak, although that would certainly be nice.

Is it odd though? How many teams do it routinely? I'm actually asking..you've piqued my curiosity.

Just get in the playoffs and win 3 or 4 straight. That's a trend we haven't shook since 2000. I still chalk it up to a coaching staff problem, but that's my opinion.

I'd rather have Harbaugh hold the offenses playbook and Cam hold the challenge flags. He's not exactly the best at this.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I just wish you didn't revive the thread until after it happened.

Same.

Oh well. There's always next time.

I'm telling you... It's just a weird thing! I think we've have had like 9 4 game winning streaks in the Harbs Era. 5 is a bad number, maybe it's a Flacco Omen.

Ok... some more research.

Since 08, 10 AFC teams have won 5 or more straight regular season games:

Cincy (11, 5 games)
Pittsburgh (08, 5games)
Houston (11, 7 games.12, 5+6 games) < still counting, 2 occurances same season
Indy (08, 9 games. 09, 14 games)
Ten (08, 10 games. 09 5 games)
Mia (08, 5 games)
NYJ (08, 5 Games)
Den (09, 6 Games. 11, 6 games. 12, 7 games) still counting
NE (10, 8 games. 11, 8 games. 12, 6 games) still counting
SD (09, 11 games)

It seems we're one of the FEW teams in the AFC to actually win 5 straight regular season games.
I'm pretty certain that the NFC will have similar numbers, if not more.

I'll take the consistent playoff appearances...but hopefully it's not the Andy Reid curse it which we get high hopes for 10-11yrs of making the playoffs in a row without a Super Bowl then having it collapse into a mess.

Here is the Real deal Ravens Fans. In the Harbs era we have not had a losing season or missed the playoffs. Perhaps we have become spoiled because our team has been so consistantly good. This is the NFL and it is hard to make the playoffs every year, yet we do it year in and year out. Like you I want a ring. Despite what some may think this year has been a great year for Harbs perhaps his hardest year with all the injuries and quality players we lost in the off-season but we are still 9-3, with a 2 game lead in our division. Things are not perfect but the Ravens are still alive and well.

Under John Harbaugh, the Ravens have been consistent, and found a way to make the playoffs, winning road games in tough environments, playing over powering defense, etc. We know we can win against good teams, now we're getting over loosing to the bad teams ( which has never been a problem before this season).... BUT one thing we haven't done as a team? Win 5 games in a row in the Regular season. Sure, We won 5 games in a row.... Though, 2010 was the first time( not in reg season ). We had 4 in the regular season and followed that up with a win in Arrowhead.

The Ravens, face a pretty tough task to go out to the West Coast and face the Chargers whom have been playing pretty good football the last two weeks. Granted, they've been doing it against sub-par oppenents....
The Ravens have typically faired VERY WELL while facing San Diego. Though, Rivers has only lost 2 times in the month of December in his carrer. We're up for a challenge. I think the Ravens can answer the bell and , for the FIRST TIME in the Harbaugh Era, We win 5 games in a row in the regular season!

Thoughts?

We've also never had a good OC...

I'll revisit this! Lets do it this Sunday!

I had mentioned this in another thread. This damn 5 game streak is cracked on Sunday.

I also think if we win out this can set a tone for next season. Instead of just settling for the North crown, trying to get homefield throughout. Whatever, one game at a time and see where this takes us.
