Never won 5 games in a row in the Harbaugh era

134 posts in this topic

Under John Harbaugh, the Ravens have been consistent, and found a way to make the playoffs, winning road games in tough environments, playing over powering defense, etc. We know we can win against good teams, now we're getting over loosing to the bad teams ( which has never been a problem before this season).... BUT one thing we haven't done as a team? Win 5 games in a row in the Regular season. Sure, We won 5 games in a row.... Though, 2010 was the first time( not in reg season ). We had 4 in the regular season and followed that up with a win in Arrowhead.

The Ravens, face a pretty tough task to go out to the West Coast and face the Chargers whom have been playing pretty good football the last two weeks. Granted, they've been doing it against sub-par oppenents....
The Ravens have typically faired VERY WELL while facing San Diego. Though, Rivers has only lost 2 times in the month of December in his carrer. We're up for a challenge. I think the Ravens can answer the bell and , for the FIRST TIME in the Harbaugh Era, We win 5 games in a row in the regular season!

Thoughts?

coming into the colts game, in the harbaugh era, we never beat the colts, never scored a td and i believe never rushed over 100 yards against the colts. let the streaks of the past end and keep the win streak goin

no sleeping on this one San Diego has found their rythm as of late the 4 man rush will have to get the job done secondary will be tested for sure. Jimmy Smith vs Antonio Gates? Ryan Matthews is not just some running back he is a very fast one at that. we need to win this one and the next 2 this team is on a mission.

Thoughts? I wish you hadn't told me this. Then next week when we won I'd be thinking, "Hey, we really did something here." Now I'll be thinking about how we have always lost that fifth game, lol.

Well... technically winning streaks count between regular seasons. So we won the last two games of 2008 and the first three of 2009 and the last four of 2010 and the first one of 2011, so personally I'd say those count as 5 game winning streaks. But if you want to say one in the space of one season, then we've only won 4 games in a row twice, once in 2008, which was ended by the Giants and once last season, which was ended by the end of the regular season.

So basically, this is not a stat that I'd be worried about.

Nah just like to play the role as devils advocate on this forum since a good majority of the time many of you type wearing the most expensive purple shades I've ever seen.

The Ravens give us reasons to cheer and smile and they also give us reason to worry and be quite pessimistic....its ok to voice that pessimism on this forum..that's why its here

Of course pessimism and optimism exist, but just as you say some type with "purple shaded glasses", there are plenty here that are the complete opposite. No names being mentioned here, though ;)

To me, every season stands on its own... So, winning streaks don't carry from regular season to regular season ( unless you happen to win the super bowl) . That doesn't really jive with me. So, like I said... The Ravens haven't won 5 in a row in the regular season. What next, you wanna claim preseason games too????

I still don't think it's that big of a deal. It's not like it's some sort of huge hump that the Ravens need to get over, since we've only had a 4 game winning streak in a single season broken by a loss.

Now, I would agree that generally the hottest team in the NFL at the end of the regular season is the one that has won their last 6-8+ games. That's what the 2000 Ravens did. It's all about getting hot at the right time and a loss right now just indicates that you've lost your focus, which is the worst possible thing that could happen.

No, it speaks to how the Ravens seem to squander a game late in the season that costs us the division . So, at this point I have some skepticism if the ravens can end the regular season with 7 straight wins... Because it might take that to win the AFC North.

I happen to enjoy my "purple shades"! But make no mistake they have no rose colored prisims in the color spectrum at all. I am realist, I'm just a positive one!

Go Ravens!!!

San Deigo is the most toughest opponent left on our schedule. If we win Sunday night then i believe we win the last 2 games afterwards.

I believe i would take the word might out and put will in. Pittsburg seems to picking up steam late also. To the point An effective Off. is something new to the Harbs era to

Picking up steam? No, they've been consistent. They've had several occasions where they just squeaked out a win over a suspect team. They're staying the course but not separating from anyone.

I really think there just might be something to this, the streak continues... Another year, another 4 game winning streak ended. Maybe we can put a long run together in the playoffs.

How about this......

Harbaugh came to us as SP teams coordinator correct? Since he came to us we have not had a dominant return man or kicker. Last year seems with each passing week to have been a fluke for Cundiff. The only thing we have to write home about in that aspect is Mr Koch dropping bombs.

This I simply do not understand, we now have Zibikowski returning kicks???? Where is Laquan Williams? Cundiff has been atrocious this season.

lets lose to the Bengals so we can go on another 4 game win streak!

hahaha, the thought crossed my mind. LOLZ

Serioulsy though, I don't see us as a team that can go ape es and win 7-8 in a row.

YOU JINXED US!!! Maybe it says something about his coaching. I'll accept the loss to the Chargers(though I don't like the fact is was a blowout) but look at the loss before the streak to see what I'm talking about. Why can't he consistently keep the players ready for games, whether home or away.

There's definitely something to the team never exceeding a four-game winning streak game under Harbaugh. They've just never been dominant enough to do it. Coaching certainly plays a factor but there has always been Achilles heel, or several, holding them back.

Actually, before this season...our Special teams has been pretty decent overall. Nothing great but decent. Billy has had a bad year, Sam has had an average year ( not to his standards). Zibi is returning kicks because we trust him to secure the ball.

Once again, just because we arent using Player "X" or "Y" doesnt mean that if we do use them, suddenly we become great.

Very true...

I still do not agree with Zibs returning kicks, if we are concerned with securing the ball lets just take touch backs.

David Reed got a return last week and almost broke for a score, Laquan Williams isn't returning because he muffled 2 returns against the Jets. I think it's hard to keep our team motivated because they get cocky too quickly. But idk, i still love my team, even though we might be one and done this year... go Ravens!!!

He does most of the time. Reed would run it out 7 yards deep and even if he doesnt fumble he wasnt always making it to the 20.

Thats my issue with him, overall just bad decision making by him
