Dump this thread. It's like comparing apples to oranges here unless you are comparing yards after catch.

The fine was BS. Ray had his head up, face forward. The helmet to helmet was caused by hiney dropping down.
Ray's helmet still hit Ward's helmet, if you're going to fine one you have to fine them all.

I hear what you are saying, but it was wards action that caused the helmet to helmet. So he should be fined(?).

In the end, I guess Ray initiated the contact, but I don't see how he could have done anything different to avoid it. He used textbook technique, head up and drove through him.

I think the rule states that the defender is ultimately responsible for whatever he hits. It's a bad rule, I agree, but they enforced it properly. I was happy to get out of there without a flag, they've called it for much, much less.

Agreed.

After all of the bad calls over the last few years, maybe the refs have been instructed to take it easy on us! Just kidding.

well theres a viking fan in my school who said they would ratherhave rice than ap.... so would i really
He cant be serious. AP is hands down the best HB Ive seen in the last 8 years in my opinion. No one combines his power and speed, no one.

something i notice...I love RR but you all overrate him. He's barely a top 10 RB
Barely? Name ten RBs better than him.

Right now, the only ones I'd take over him are Peterson, Foster, McCoy and MJD.

Wait a sec are we talking about the same Hines Ward? The cheap shot artist who is now old and getting his comeuppance - that Hines Ward.? If so then Ray Rice could never be mentioned in the same sentence with that NFL garbage. Oh sure Ward has made some awesome receptions but at the expense of several NFL careers. I stand up and cheer everytime I see him leveled and watch him struggle to get up. Ray Rice is a good and decent man. He plays hard but doesn't take cheap shots. I wish all of our players had his competitve drive to win.

I would have never said it this well.

Yeah, I don't get the "he's barely a top 10 RB" as well. That's just foolish talk!

If I'm not mistaken he just notched his 3rd straight 1000 yard rushing season, and he's closing in on his second season with 2000 all-purpose yards. I don't think Adrian Peterson even has one 2000 all-purpose yard season. Peterson is clearly superior, no question, but to say Ray Rice is barely top ten is a bit farfetched, in my opinion.

This is ludicrous. What are you basing it on? The fact that he's not on top 5 in rushing yards? Dude, Ray Rice is statistically just short of 40% of our offense, and is number two in yards gained at his position. How the heck is he overrated?

I'd take Matt Forte as an honorable mention too, had he not been injured...

Rice can catch better the AP but AP is a better pure RB.

Hines is a good blocker/catcher but not equal to rice's catching, plus running, plus blocking.

Hines Ward is a 1st Ballot hall of famer, Rice has a long way to go before he gets compared to Ward in any way. The Ravens fans only hate the guy so much because he has owned them for years, and jacked up so many of their safeties and CBs...all while having a blast and playing the game like a kid. Its clueless and classless to bash him because he is in the twilight of his career...every single player eventually has diminishing skills and retires. True NFL fans respect quality opponents....and don't bother with the "dirty player" responses.

ask any nfl fan who they rather have on their team, Rice or Ward.

Ward is a great total player but, I'd take Anquan Boldin over him much less Ray Rice.

Bwa ha ha ha! You ask them, just ask outside of Baltimore and 95% of them will take the 13 year career of Hines Ward over Rice or Boldin. Seriously dude, you have got to be kidding me.

Calling Ward a "first ballot HOF'er" may not be such a lock statement like you think. Not discrediting the guy entirely, I just highly doubt he gets the first year he's eligible.

Oh, in that case, ask anyone in the NFL they would take James Harrison over Ray Lewis. How silly to compare one of the final seasons of a star to a player with a couple good years in. <Deleted>

Fair enough, but his numbers are better than Swann and Stallworth who are already both in...he is a HOFamer.

To be fair there are better wideouts than Swann and Stallworth who aren't in the HOF...Don't be surprised if Hines doesn't get in for a good while.
