Is Ray Rice Our Version Of Heinz Ward?

91 posts in this topic

Ask anyone in Baltimore and they'll tell you, if theres one smile they can't stand its Heinz Ward's. Seemingly always smiling, unless Jarret Johnson, or Ray Lewis knocks him out, his smile enrages Ravens fans! (even up here in good ol' Canada!) Was just wondering if the Ravens had an equivalent. Ray Rice has become known for his ability to smile ear to ear, and can frequently be seen grinning from ear to ear after some sort of impact on the field. Was just curious if the Ravens started on a tangent of dominance over the steelers for a couple of years (seeing as their defence is older than ours....although analysts seem to always forget that fact) if Ray's contagious smile could begin to elicit the same response Heinz's smile elicits in Baltimore?

This title definitely goes to Suggs. Thank the football Gods he is on our side!

Yup, Steelers fans hate/respect him like we used to Hines Ward.

Nowadays, Hines Ward is too old, injured, and slow to be dirty - i mean "effective".

I loved it when he entered the game talking smack to the defense led by Ray Lewis only to be knocked out. He may have had a first down in the red zone but Ray rang his bell and Pollard covered his semi-conscious, rag doll, old self. Also, I'm posting another classic Ray hit for comparison.

Lol, yeah I loved how Suggs called out Hines to play. I really feel he has become more of a liability with his slowness as of late.

Reminds me of when Ray would call out Bettis or Eddie George, we had more trouble with the steelers and Titans when they were not playing, nice Jedi mind trick

Just to clarify, the catch was overruled. He did not have a first down.

Was just going to say, the fellows in Minnesota would have a lot to say. AP is the only RB in the league in his own category.

No offense to Rice but Hines wouldn't have moved out of the way to block Harrison that play. Rice is nice but he isn't AP. AP is a very rare breed of player. One of those players you could put in any time and would be great, though I feel the same can be said about Rice Peterson is faster and more punishing when he runs. I put Rice top 5 RBs right now though, maybe top 3.

It's Suggs hands down. He was heckling the fans after the Torrey Smith TD as they were leaving the stadium. He also used the Gladiator quote, "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED." HAHA

The great thing about him is that he backs up the words with amazing play.
Love him!

I think our version of Hines Ward was Derrick Mason and since he is gone now...we really don't have an old offensive veteran to compare to Hines Ward. This isn't exactly a bad thing either. The NFL is a young man's game.

Wait a sec are we talking about the same Hines Ward? The cheap shot artist who is now old and getting his comeuppance - that Hines Ward.? If so then Ray Rice could never be mentioned in the same sentence with that NFL garbage. Oh sure Ward has made some awesome receptions but at the expense of several NFL careers. I stand up and cheer everytime I see him leveled and watch him struggle to get up. Ray Rice is a good and decent man. He plays hard but doesn't take cheap shots. I wish all of our players had his competitve drive to win.

Ray Rice is more and more as our days go bye like Hinez Ward because he has the ability to block out and he has that swagger of the cool football player with attitude..
To me no question Ray Rice over Foote, can Foote even catch a ball ???

Sure, on the surface the easy comparison is Derrick Mason, but Mason's smile never absolutely infuriated anyone, his speech didn't want to make you punch the screen. I think Dudeman is right, Suggs is closer to what Hines Ward was than Mason.

The fine was BS. Ray had his head up, face forward. The helmet to helmet was caused by hiney dropping down.

Please refrain from using that name in the title of a topic. It borders on being a crime against nature.
