I agree, he has to change his approach. I am not surprised that he got suspended. I hope he appeals only because I think we need him more for the SF game than the other two.

They're going to make a decision by Friday, so, if he's gonna be suspended, it's going to be on Monday Night.

You probably don't have a future as an ambassador.

Why would I want to be an ambassador in the first place?

Just to recap this thread. Here is what we have so far.

-Majority of people think James Harrison should be suspended for 1 game and fined.

-James Harrison did receive a 1 game suspension that he is appealing.

-Ravens fans are Ravens fans and Steelers fans are Steelers fans.

As to why Steelers fans are seeking objective Ravens fans on a Ravens forum is noble but unrealistic. Sure some fans may be able to be objective but fans are fans. If you want impartial objectivity then you need to look for a NFL analyst that gets paid to do that. And even then, some think those people have a bias.

I could join a Steelers forum and nitpick every post that supported a point I wanted to make about Steelers fans not being objective but I wouldn't because I'd realize...it's a Steelers forum. Yeah true this is the "Other NFL Teams" section but it's still a Ravens forum overall.

Now what about that James Harrison and his 1 game suspension that he is appealing? Is he wasting his time?

Now this dude IS posturing for a diplomatic position! I don't think he will win the appeal but if he gets to play against SF while its pending....its worth the try.

I understand! I "hate" Suggs and can't imagine him in black and gold. But if he was a Steeler......
Where was all this outcry from 'Steeler Nation' when Suggs got tossed for "malice in his heart"--there wasn't any.
No one stuck up for us when we got all the crappy calls because of the bad boys rep that is now haunting the Lions and Steelers, It sucks and it took time and 2 years into a new coach for it to get better. Ray Lewis and Ngata get fined they say safety is important , Steelers get fined they pop off at the mouth, Steelers were the luckiest team in the world for years, maybe if they get rid of Harrison, Clark, Ben, Mendenhall.........or learn the rule book the luck will return. All teams and players get crappy calls not all players say they would not urinate on Goodell if he was on fire See the difference?

You mean like this hit where Ray intentionally lowers his head and spears Ward but still isn't flagged?

Of course you did, and you screamed bloody murder when Hines leveled Ed Reed like a lumberjack on a sapling, didn't you?

I could be mistaken, but somewhere in this thread, I believe I read that Terrell Suggs gets preferential treatment in his QB hits. Is so, then I couldn't disagree more.
Yeah, we just need to go back to the Patriots game in 2009 for that light brush against Tom Brady's knee for that.

Also, I bet that Harrison wouldn't have been suspended if he had gone the apologetic route instead of going the Suh route of complete denial. Even yesterday he said that he didn't think that he was going to get fined or suspended because it was a clean hit. So he only made things worse by saying what he did.

And as far as that Ray Lewis hit on Hines Ward, yes it was helmet to helmet, yes it should have been a penalty, and yes he should have been fined for it (and I believe he was fined). But notice what Ray is doing with his arms. He's going to wrap up Hines at the time, that shows the intent wasn't to go helmet to helmet. Now look at Harrison's hit on McCoy, the arms stay inside, he leads with his helmet and then pushes McCoy down. If Harrison's arms were actually outside the shoulders at all, I'd have an easier time believing that there wasn't malicious intent there.

James Harrison needs to shut his mouth, he is just going to make things worse. Harrison said that he will not change the way he plays and felt that he did no wrong and that it was laughable he would get suspended for what he considered a very, very small incident.

James is concerned it will happen again and that there will be a larger suspension and that if they suspend him, they suspend him and that he won't change the way he plays.

Keep doing what you're doing, James. You'll end up with a serious degenerative brain disease and won't be recognised for your stellar play, but for your dirty hits. Then again, he has displayed he has no concept of consequences.

Not only that, but also the at best, very questionable roughing the passer calls in week 5 of the 2008 season against the Titans and week 2 of the 2010 season against the Bengals.

Ray Lewis was indeed fined for the hit.

Bettis said Harrison doesn’t think he did anything wrong when he hit McCoy, and that he could have hurt McCoy a lot worse if he had wanted to.

“He told me that it was laughable that this was the case — it wasn’t a funny situation but it’s laughable that he would get suspended over what he felt was a very, very small incident,” Bettis said. “In his words, ‘If I would have really hit him I would have close to knocked him out.’”

Stole this from the article. LOL what do you think happened, James? The guy suffered a concussion and WAS knocked out at least for a few seconds. He didn't even remember the crown of your helmet being jammed into his facemask. He's an idiot, plain and simple. Compile all the harebrained quotes from him, read them in sequence, and you may lose some IQ points.

Why is it the people who are defending him trying to use the fact McCoy was running makes it a clean hit and uses that for why he shouldn't be suspended? I really don't understand that, you don't make that type of hit PERIOD! I don't care if it's in the pocket or out of the pocket, you don't hit anyone like that.

People who say it was a bang-bang play, if you look at the way his body is positioned as he's going to make the tackle, he could've easily gone lower. Harrison's head and shoulders were initially far too high to be bringing down a traditional runner.

They teach you to get lower than the other man so you get leverage. That was just Harrison launching himself. No need to launch when you have a guy dead-to-rights in your aim, especially as slow as your average QB (compared to WRs and RBs).

Poor, poor technique by Harrison. It's correctable.

Hah! You should love how he uses logical fallacies on posters THEN proceeds to come off analytical in his responses. One or the other man. Learn to let it go.

Back to topic. Harrison got what he deserved plain and simple. His public responses are not helping him at all and could be used against him should this occur again. The man should learn to just keep his mouth shut and take his punishment like a man or a Steeler.

Edit: I quoted Mod 2
