Another nail in the coffin of,"The Steelers get preferential treatment from the NFL" theory of 99.9% of Ravens fans.

Yeah, I mean this is his first offense, right????

But if the theory was true, he wouldn't have been suspended.

Not necessarily. I personally think that he ought to be grateful that it's only the one game that he's suspended for given his history as a repeat offender and his rant about Goodell in the offseason. And, technically, he can appeal the suspension so that he can play against the 49ers.

6 offenses in a little less than a year is more than coincidence. He's either too stupid to understand the rules or he's a headhunter.
6 offenses in less than a year should have been a 3 game suspension. If 6 offenses and fines in less than a year won't send the message than what would 1 game do? 3 Games should have been more of a punishment. I mean Suh got suspended for 2 games and he doesn't have 6 offenses in less than a year.

It's not a sweep just yet not until they beat the Steelers a 3rd time...

It's not even a guarantee that the Ravens & Steelers will meet in the playoffs each year so using this argument is invalid. Plus who cares about playoff success from last year or even from 2008, it's 2011 and the only thing that matters is that the Ravens swept the Steelers THIS SEASON, last season don't matter, and all other previous seasons don't matter. It's 2011 and the only thing you should be focused on is the 2011 Season.

Man am I really in the .01 percent! I feel like I should celebrate or something.

I don't believe there are conspiracies in the NFL.

Switch it around to us? What?! Talk about your boy and how, 6 offenses later, he still has no idea what he's doing/done wrong.

So, after those semantic and mental gymnastics, you can maintain your belief that the Steelers get preferential treatment....Hey PuRock, I found a live one for you.

I agree there are many misguided souls with purple glasses.

In all honesty I don't think he should've been suspended for the hit. He was just trying to make a play. Its not like he was launching with his helmet. His helmet made the first contact. But the fact that he has a ton of borderline hits needed some attention.

He will appeal, but he probably won't get it reversed.

He wasn't suspended just for this hit, he was suspended because he's had 5 previous infractions, as well.

Semantic and mental gymnastics?

I don't necessarily believe the Steelers get preferential treatment but I do believe Harrison should have been given more than one game. Like has already been said, in the past year he's totaled 6 offences for more than 100k of fines (and the Goodell rant) which, to me, justifies harsher punishment than one game.

I agree, he has to change his approach. I am not surprised that he got suspended. I hope he appeals only because I think we need him more for the SF game than the other two.

One game sounds right to me. Daunte Robinson who has a history of launching at guys didn't even get suspended for his hit on Maclin earlier in the year. He is a repeat offender and the hit was worse.

I agree. I won't lie, I'm happy Harrison might not be playing against the 49ers. I too believe his impact in the game would be huge. The Ravens help lay the blitzing framework to beat the 49ers. You have to get to Alex Smith. Woodley and Harrison back would be too much for their O-Line to handle.

The appeal process could be interesting. Because his suspension could be pushed back (and yes Ravens fans will claim more conspiracies) while a decision is made.

The Niners didn't look so good against the Cards. I think this weekend may be the Steelers last chance to catch you guys. I know the Bengals game is left, but they have been exposed.

If you're going to compare Harrison's situation with Robinson's then Harrison's one game suspension sounds more just. I think you could make the argument that both need to be punished more severely. Maybe it's just my view on the matter.

They didn't. But they were also on a high from winning the division. Some people expected a letdown. Which doesn't spell good news for the Steelers this week.

Before this week I thought the Steelers would win. But now with Big Ben's mobility in question and Harrison's suspension and the 49ers now have to win to get the first week bye. I think the 49ers have a slight edge. But ofcourse that is why they play the game.

I can agree with that sentiment. If the NFL is serious about concussions then they have to pull no stops. But looking at how they've handle head hits so far, a 1 game suspension seems on par.

If he immediately appeals it he might get away with playing on Monday. But Harrison, Woodley may both be out. Seeing that, the team dodged a bullet... it's not like Troy Polamalu will be out... lol.

Peter King says its a bad decision by the NFL because McCoy was out of the pocket as a runner.
Doesn't matter, its the way he hit him. That would be illegal on anyone.

Actually, no it wouldn't, running backs get hit helmet to helmet all the time.
Then Peter King doesn't understand the rules either. You're going to get a fine/suspension for hitting another player in the head while leading with the crown of you're helmet. You won't get the in-game penalty if you do it to a runner or a receiver that can defend themselves, but you're still getting fined for the dangerous helmet-to-helmet hit.

ANY repeat offender should be getting handed suspensions. How guys that have been playing for at least 20 years (in most cases) can't form tackle is beyond me.

If helmet-to-helmet is the first point of contact it doesn't matter what the person is, QB in the pocket, RB or WR. Sometimes its more incidental that purposeful. But the NFL wants to stop concussions and doesn't want any tweaks to the rule.

I think Harrison could've avoided a suspension if he admit what he did wrong and apologized instead of leading with his big, fat head again and trying to pretend he's innocent.

You mean like this hit where Ray intentionally lowers his head and spears Ward but still isn't flagged?

Well, most of what I saw on Ravens forums was absolute glee and people expressing hope that he was permanently injured. But then they become a righteous bunch of hypocritical zealots when its the other way around.

No, Ward was not a defenseless receiver, and some of the contact was shoulder, so it wasn't a direct shot. Officials will hold on the flag if they think it could be incidental contact (that's a change from last year's rule). With Harrison's hit, he hit a player who had thrown the ball before Harrison started leaning in and it was all helmet. And James hit a QB. The QB is always going to be more protected than any player. That's just how it is. Besides, that was Ray's second offense and he was still fined. (The first offense was the hit on Ochocinco, though he didn't seem to be injured at all from the collision.)
