So when the Ravens beat the Steelers they earn it and outplay the Steelers and when the Steelers beat the Ravens the Ravens give the game to them and the Steelers dont earn anything that is basically what youre saying right?? The Ravens didnt own the Steelers in the 2nd meeting either dude they won in the final seconds of the game and blew a 10 point 2nd half lead. I wouldnt call that owning them. The first game was a beatdown no doubt and no excuses there...I want a 3rd matchup there brother trust me I want it more then any Steelers fan around...
but...isn't winning games in the "final" seconds something that you steelers fans love to pride yourself on with Big Ben? i mean...when he does it...you cats don't know how to shut up about it! the media doesn't know how to shut up about it! that is all we hear about! smh! but now that the Ravens do it...in pittsburg...with a 92 yard crisp and flawless drive to come from behind...after they (as you say) "blew" a 10 point lead...to win the game for the second time against the steelers....you try to make it seem like it is meaningless? typical steelers fans! smh! and i know you want a 3rd matchup! deep down in your heart and mind those 2 losses to the Ravens mean more to you and the steelers than you try to let on in here! that is why you are constantly in here on our boards brother!

ummm....you are a steelers fan so of course you not ready to admit that the Ravens are a better team. smh! and Joe Flacco has won significant playoff games. he's won games on the road and he beat Brady in Foxboro. that playoff statement seems to be the last "crutch" that you steelers fans keep holding on to as though with the steelers the playoffs means an automatic win. smh! Flacco has done EVERYTHING to discredit what you cats are saying. the blatant arrogance and conceit of you steelers fans is why i can't stand the steelers (except for Ben and Troy).

steeler fans say stupid stuff like this on the regular...

-Flacco never beat the steelers with ben playing. CHECK (he's done that 2xs)
-Flacco never beat the steelers in pittsburg. CHECK (he's done that 2xs)
-Flacco can't lead a successful game-winning drive against the steelers. CHECK (he's done that 2xs)
-Flacco can't sweep the steelers in a regular season. CHECK (he's been there done that!)

now their stupid speech is....

-until Flacco wins in the playoffs (what you really mean is beats the steelers to advance) the regular season means nothing. ?????
-if the Ravens go to the Superbowl without playing the steelers it doesn't count. ?????

what kind of foolishness is that? you cats need to get out of here with that trash!

Oh there's also a new one. Some are saying since we won the first two games the odds are somehow mathematically worse that we will win the 3rd one. Would love to hear the logic behind that.

Sorry Perk!

LOLOL that ok, Hell would freeze over if i took up for the Stealers, lol. The only think ill give the Stealers is their QB is a tough s.o.b, dude has some heart that is for sure. You know he has complete control of that Offense with him getting hurt time and time again and still go out and play.

I actually tried to find the numbers on who wins and loses in a third matchup between two teams where one swept the other during the regular season a while back and couldn't find it. I know back in 2008, those numbers were all over the place, but now, not so much.

edit: I finally managed to find something on them. This was posted after the 2007 season, when the Cowboys swept the Giants in the regular season then they played again in the playoffs.

http://www.pro-footb...com/blog/?p=458

So before the 2007 playoffs, the team that swept the other team in the regular season was 11-6 in the third game

Since then:

The Giants avoided being beaten three times by the Cowboys in 2007. (Edit: Corrected the 2nd Giants to be Cowboys)
The Steelers finished the sweep against the Ravens in 2008. *cringe*
The Cowboys completed the sweep of the Eagles in 2009.

So that means the record of the team that has won the first two regular season games is 13-7 in the third meeting in the playoffs.

So yes, it is "hard" to beat a team three times in one season, because it's only happened 13 times since the merger. However it's not nearly as hard to beat a team a third time given that you've already beaten them twice.

Also, in case you were curious, when the team that swept the regular season series is at home, they are 11-4.

We gotta get to the playoffs first-and with Joe Flacco nothing is a lock. We still have away games at SD and Cincy and 11 and 5 would put us in the same spot we've been in the last 3 years with Flacco and thats not a good place to be.

Because the future of this season and this team depends on his play and that is not solid ground to be standing on. We are where we are right now because of our all world defense and certainly not because of Flacco-it may be getting old to you but the truth is settling for second best is getting far older.

oh yes, that defense that led the game winning TD drives against the cardinals and pittsburgh right? or the defense that pick apart the rams? or the defense that let up how many yards and points against the bengals?

By all means credit the defense but do not say none of our success isnt down to flacco. Your starting to troll, you only post when you can slag flacco

I didn't say none of our success this year could be attributed to Flacco-I said we are where we are this year because of our all world defense-which has kept us in many games Flacco would have lost with his fumbling, imobility and lack of pocket awareness. If in fact you are a Raven supporter, as I am and continue to be ( I wonder how many Baltimore Raven sponsored community fundraisers you have contributed to)you should be unwilling to settle for anything less than a Superbowl Victory and you know as well as I do we will never get that with Flacco.

FOX 8 in Cleveland needs a new video editor and the guy should have stayed in spot the whole time. Now regarding the video, I thought it was great but I really didn't understand the point, sounds like he wanted his 15 minutes of fame.

Ok it's been a little bit since I posted this topic, and all in all it's been a good read.

I still stand behind the things I said. I'd take Flacco over Rothlisberger if they were drafted in the same class. If we play the Steelers three times and beat them three times then I'd be just about as satisfied as if we won the Super Bowl. But oh how sweet it would be to beat Pittsburgh, New England, and the Packers in the "PLAY-OFFS??"(ala Jim Mora style). We would finally be able to put to rest several very foolish notions that people have about the Ravens.

Some of those very notions have been brought up in this thread, and by Ravens fans no less! I've appreciated the insights some of the Steeler fans, as I personally am a football fan first and foremost. The reason this rivalry is the best in the NFL is because 2 of the top 4 teams in the AFC are in the same division. Most of these games come down to who has the ball last more than anything else.

But I feel like this is our year, and in any other year I'd be more worried about playing the PITT. This year I say bring em on, and if it's meant to be our time then we will beat them at their own game!

I know, right....that 92 yard was orchestrated brilliantly by our defense against Pitt in week 9. You are ridiculous! Honestly, why do you even post?

I am not scared of the Steelers in the least this season. The Ravens have been built to beat the Steelers and as some have already pointed out, we are just a bad match-up for them. Our defense makes them one dimensional and frankly we have more talent at pretty much every position. I would give the Steelers the slight edge and QB and WR, but every where else the Ravens have the edge.

@Wizard1:

Is that you Skip Bayless?

On a more serious note, stop hating on Joe, and give him credit when credit is due. Joe has done a lot for this team, and yes our defense does help win us games but that means we have a Complete team. Joe can't do everything, Football is a TEAM sport and in fact I say we are one of the most complete teams in the NFL. Great young QB, great running game and great defense. I also believe Joe is being held back by Cam and that once we get a new Offensive Coordinator, Joe will become a much better QB.

So keep on sipping that haterade, this guy is just like every Tebow hater, quick to throw him under the bus but refuses to give credit when he does something good. Except he does it with Joe.

If these two teams do meet again a 3rd time I dont care where it's at the game is a coin flip plain and simple. These teams are so evenly matched in so many areas it's ridiculous. The Ravens still needed a miraculous flawless 92 yard drive at the end of the game by Flacco in Pittsburgh against a Steelers defense that didnt have their best pash rusher in Lamar Woodley to beat them with 8 ticks left on the clock. I dont know if Flacco can pull something like that off again if the opportunity presents itself one more time. Now will having the game at M&T Bank give the Ravens a huge edge?? Absolutely it will but the Steelers have found a way to win a number of close games against the Ravens in Baltimore in 2 out of the last 3 seasons at the end and there is no reason they couldnt do it one more time. So all I will say is be careful what you wish for there my friend...
Woodley played against the Ravens when we beat you 35 to 7 . I don't get the emphasis on Woodley being out. I take that as you making excuses. The Ravens this year are the better team, we are younger and have more overall talent on both sides of the field. McPhee is playing better than your 1st rounder Heyward.

I'm not saying that means you can't beat us, but you are not the better team right now and Woodley being there,or not, didnt cause Ben to throw the INT and your secondary's performance at the end.

Honestly, no matter where we play the Steelers this year, I like our chances, and that's much more than I could say last year. I'm not inside the head of Joe Flacco, but I know if I was him what that touchdown drive would do for my confidence. It wouldn't matter if I threw 4 picks in every other game for the rest of the season. I'd go into Pittsburgh knowing I could win.

I hate to sound overly confident but I believe if the Ravens play the Steelers again at the Bank, the game won't come down to a last minute play. I'm calling the Ravens by double digits, something like 13. As much as the Steelers talk about "OH we'll remember" do they think that the Ravens forgot about handing them a game last year to advance in the playoffs? I see the team playing another complete game against them if their is a rematch and a physically dominating performance from both the offense and defense. I see them running over the Steelers and keeping Joe in short yardage 3rd down situations which I'm very confident he will complete. Everyone keeps saying how hard it is to beat a team 3 times but our team through all the bad and tough losses has built something that I don't see with many other teams. That killer instinct that was missing last year has been developing since the divisional round loss and I see the team getting ready to display it during this run they are about to go on. Also, people keep chirping in about Flacco under pressure. There have been dropped opportunities by the defense, dropped passes by receivers and a missed kick that kept us from beating Favre and the Vikings in 09. One thing I do give Flacco is for the most part when its come down to a last drive hes usually stepped up under pressure rather than crumble, another reason I believe the play calling is usually why he has looked inept in the past.

To those saying the Superbowl is better...what would feel worse: losing to the Steelers or losing to the packers? I think losing to the Steelers. Losing to the packers I think people here would be disappointed for sure, but happy being the top of the conference and just getting there. Loss against Steelers: this board is a cancer of second guessing and playing the blame game for weeks.
