Playing The Steelers In The Play-Offs

148 posts in this topic

There is too much emphasis in the Steelers and this is exactly why they keep saying we're obsessed with them. Their mystique and psychological edge has worn off and at the end of the day they're just another team.

Took me a while to see it hawkprey, but i got it now. The only reason Joe looks average in our division, is because our division plays the best defense in the league. I suspected this a while ago, and now the numbers have confirmed my suspicion. Joe has been tested by the best, all that's left, is to beat the rest.
This is something I think a lot of the "experts" don't even look at. Look at the opponents and defenses the Ravens have beaten. As of right now, the Ravens have the 2nd highest Strength of Schedule in the AFC; only 2nd behind Jacksonville (.548 vs .537 - Pitts SOS is .503 btw). And look at how they are beating them. There is only one AFC Strength of Victory stat over .500 and that's the .577 that belongs to the Ravens (Pitts SOV is .430).

At this point, I don't care about the Steelers. Ignore everyone else but the team in front of us. If the Ravens win out, I can't see how they aren't the #1 seed. They will not have lost a divisional game, they will only have 2 losses in the conference and the only team that could match those numbers if they also win out is Houston and their SOS is .459 and SOV is only .382 right now.

I have no desire to see them again this year, myself. Beating any team three times in one year would be tough. Beating the Steelers, three times would be really tough.

Looking at this Ravens team this year... I'd take them up against anyone... I have more trepidation about the Indy game than facing the squeelers again... We have Pitts number this year... Tomlin and Arians have one game plan: give the ball to the qb and let him run around with it until someone is open... Harbaugh's staff actually game plans a team and attacks/defends based on film...

Yes we can beat them.

And I want to face them in the playoffs to send them home crying with no excuses.
No excuses? Well that won't happen. Ben has a high ankle sprain and they still brought him in the 2nd half. If they don't rest it, he won't be 100% for the playoffs. They now already have their built in excuse.

Well, we all pretty much knew that the Browns were going to have a hard time against the Steelers. With 3 minutes to go the Browns had a chance but the William Gay interception, shut the door on that. The injuries the Steelers suffered could play a part. The good news for the Steelers is they have a long week for him to heal up a bit, the bad news is they are going up against a defense that twice as good as Cleveland, where you will want your QB to be mobile. The season is getting interesting that is for sure. We just have to get this win and pound this out!

no harm to you people saying you dont wnat to see pitts, i say bring them on. You have to beat the best to be the best when it matters. give me pittsburgh then NE, then green bay. thats the way i want it, no doubt thats the way the players want it. i want pitts and i want to smash them right in the mouth for the third time this year!

I don't necessarily want to play Pittsburgh again, especially on the road but this season does seem to be different. I think we can take Pittsburgh and especially at our place. It would surely be an exicting game again. That is for sure

We should not get too far ahead of ourselves. Playoffs = Festivus and Super Bowl = Festivus Maximus. I am just a little superstitious. Lets just beat the Colts and get to 10-3 and keep pace. If we have to face the Steelers again, lets just make sure it is at M&T with that Seven Nation Army chant rocking the house.

Hey all I can say is touche, but I really hate watching games that they win because they are so ugly. It always comes down to horseshoes with the Steelers, and just when you think they are giving the game away they somehow manage to come out on top. It seems like the only team that can really beat them is our team, but again it always comes down to them having "Steeler Magic."

I dunno what else to say other than I am sick, sick, sick of Pittsburgh! I also want to say that maybe I was wrong that beating them three times is better than winning the Super Bowl, but in my mind it's almost as good.

And no, I usually don't get ahead of myself here. Indy is all the players and coaches should be thinking about. But if things work out the way I picture then that means the Steelers are coming to Baltimore in the divisional round.

It doesn't really matter who gets the #1 or #2 seed because in the end we all know the Ravens and Steelers will be facing each other in the playoffs AGAIN. The football gods love it, so it shall be.

And anybody who doesn't believe it will be a tough game that can go either way, is in denial.

Ben better be 110% for that game, because when we win the superbowl I don't want to be hearing..."would the Ravens have made it if Big ol' Ben was playing?" HECK YEAH WE WOULD!

Also, I am sick of laying out the $$$ for playoff tickets to only play our games on the road. In the meantime, the organization gets to sit on my money until the next season begins.
I paid my grand now lets see some playoffs at the Bank! ;)

Exactly, I wouldn't care if we lost twice to the Steelers in the regular season if we won the Super Bowl!

I'm not scared of playing Pittsburgh at all in the playoffs, and on our home turf for once. This defense is just too much for Pittsburgh to handle, and I may be the only one to jump out and say this but our receivers and TE's are better than their secondary. i've always thought that ike taylor was way over rated and william gay as well..polamalu isn't great in deep coverage and neither is ryan clark. The Ravens were built to beat the Steelers..to spread that defense out and force their cb's to cover someone, and to exploit their o-line and get ben making mistakes when he has nowhere to go with the ball. Also, we have the speed in our secondary to match their receivers..i think mike wallace has figured out who #21 is by now.

Bring on the Steelers. Bring on the Patriots. Bring on Tebow or the Jets,Raiders..anyone who wants a shot. Ladies and Gentlemen this is the best team in the AFC, now it's just up to the Ravens to play like it. If they do, we'll be watching them in Indy

If there was ever a year where we are capable, it is this year. I'm sorry, but they almost had Cleveland beat them at home last night. They were in a tight spot there at the end. I think that if we play them again, and it is in Baltimore, they won't walk away with the W. Then again, we have been known to go full stupid at times.

Couldn't have said it better myself, this is an awesome response. I'd also like to go on a limb here and say Joe is as good as, if not better than Ben. There I said that too. Joe's career is about half as long as Ben's at this point, so all that's left is titles that separate them. I'll also say that Joe has a higher ceiling than Ben as well.

So in summary I don't think they do anything better than we do. Again, most of the time it seems we are the better team, let's just hope our play continues to prove that to be true,

cant agree with that, in my opinion ben is elite with brady brees manning and rodgers... ben gets it done more often that not when it matters.. he has anawful oline, he extends plays and has great accuracy on the move.. he carries that offense, without ben pitts would be a losing team every year, hes a great QB but an awful man

that being said i wouldnt take him over flacco right now as joe has years left and ben may be nearing the downisde of his great career due to the beating hes taking over the years.. he seems to get injured every weekk now. all the more reason for the ravems to pay ben grubbs, flaccos been taking beatings and i dont want his longetivity affected

Yeah honestly people don't get that we're just a matchup problem for them this year. I'm not more worried about the Steelers than I am the Texans or Pats in the playoffs, and I think the Steelers are the better of those teams right now.

I don't see why everyone is still afraid of Houston either. Who is their starting qb? Oh and Andre Johnson has yet another hammy. They aren't making it out of the first round and if they do, they'd most likely be headed to Foxboro.

Oh and New England? They are SOFT people! I know it's brady and bellicheck and welker, but when is the last time they've done anything or proven that they can slug it out against a physical team in the playoffs? if we can get that #1 seed, nobody's going to come into baltimore and win.

In reality, Tennessee could jump them in the standings, and I'd definitely be more worried about having to play the Titans.

Well, hopefully everything stays as it is seeding wise, and then the Steelers will have to play Tebow in Denver... I don't see Tebow losing that game lol.

I troll this site because I am absolutely obsessed with the Ravens in a bad way. I hate this team with all of my being so I try not to post anything and just read the threads (daily, almost embarassed to say). But I like to keep it real. This thread warrants a response from a die hard Steelers fan..

Playing the Ravens in the playoffs is my ultimate fantasy. Leading up to our showdown last year, our family threw a "super bowl" party but not on superbowl sunday.. we did it on the ultimate Ravens Week which is a playoff meeting. I dream of meeting you guys again and redeeming my pride. But, in all honesty, if we were to lose to you guys this year in the playoffs... i don't even know what to say.. if we lost for a THIRD time. I think I would probably never ever say anything about the Ravens ever again. Losing in the superbowl leaves you with an empty feeling, but nothing compared to losing to the Ravens in a playoff game. I could never imagine that feeling. But Lord knows I want you guys soooo bad, it's all many of us think about
