Playing The Steelers In The Play-Offs

148 posts in this topic

Watching the Steelers tonight on Thursday night football made me realize that these Steelers of Pittsburgh just wont go away. They may lose another game, but there is a good chance (and we said so when we shellacked them after the first game of the season) that we will have to beat them in the play-offs too.

I usually try to take the approach the players do, and take it game by game, and day by day. So maybe I am getting ahead of myself here, or selling us a little bit short. But beating the Steelers three times in one season is way better than winning the Super Bowl.

"And Caesar's spirit, raging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice
Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war,
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial."

Dare I say bring on the Steelers, and let's bury the memory of losing to them three times two years ago. Nothing would be sweeter than to beat them at their own game, and win a championship on the way.

What? Beating Pitt is better than a SB? Did I read that correctly?

Lol, beating them three times in one year is better than winning the Super Bowl to me. But maybe I am just out of my mind tonight,

Definitely out of your mind...no offense, but one of the dumbest things I've ever heard Ravens related!

Haha I am running a fever, and I just watched the Steelers win which always makes me a little nutty. But yeah beating them three times and winning the Super Bowl is obviously the penultimate victory. But just beating them three times is all I really want at the moment.

First off, it's still not a guarantee that we end up playing each other again. However, I know a lot of people think the Ravens are not happy about having to play them again, but those of us who know and follow the team as closely as we do will tell you, the Ravens saw it coming before everyone else did. We've been talking about "When we see them in January" all season. I think we have an obsession of beating those guys that they can't match, and it's a healthy one (although you can easily disagree after losing to the Titans and Seahawks.)

Nothing tops a SB title though.

Can you imagine the disgust if we lost to them in the playoffs. I should be banned from these forums for just suggesting it. I might kill myself if it happened.

I'd love a shot at shutting up Bayless and all the Tebow lovers. My perfect scenario Denver beating Pitt in the wildcard and then getting exposed by us in the Divisional round. I'd love nothing more than for Flacco to show up Tebow and shut Bayless up for good.

100% we can beat the steelers. I can almost GURANTEE you...we will have to fight steelers, then patriots then packers. It'll be the hardest SB win in NFL history, and we'll be the one to do it.

It's always good to hear a voice of reason. I guess it wouldn't be a rivalry either, if there wasn't any passion/desire about beating a certain team. But I want to beat them again bad. Until we knock them out in the play-offs we will never get the global credit that the local crowd understands. We have watched every minute of each of these games that go blow by blow until the clock runs out and most of the time we beat them! But when you look at the final score they somehow manage to pull it out, well not this year is all I am saying. Let's beat the living crap out of these guys and breeze our way into the confetti.

This is the way I see it too. And yes, I doubt any one could argue that we are not the best after that run.

If they can beat the Steelers in the playoffs -- then what? I mean the "then what" would the excuses be?

At the beginning of the season we heard Joe can't beat Roethlisberger.
In week 9 we heard that Baltimore played their Super Bowl in week 1, won't happen again.
Now all along we've heard they can't beat them in the playoffs.

If it does happen ... my question is, then what?

Some Steelers injury should suffice.

Tebow beating Pitts in the playoffs. That definitely won't shut them up. That will be the equivalent of Super bowl to Tebow fans.

That's the beauty of it. They ride into Bmore with this huge win against a team that barely beat IND, KC, and CLE and then get their hopes shattered when a real team plays them.

Despite them being 10-3 they have looked very mediocre all season along. They have beaten the weak teams...barely and have lost to the good teams they have faced. Their offense looks worse than ours.

The ravens have more impressive wins than any other team. We also have some bad losses. But all in all, I have full confidence in the ravens smashing the steelers again. In fact, I think they will be 1 and done. Especially if they have to play on the road

If we don't face the Steelers in the playoffs, I really think that there will be a vocal minority of people, especially people like Skip Bayless, who will claim that a victory in the Super Bowl will be tainted because Joe Flacco didn't prove he couldn't beat the Steelers when it mattered the most. And I believe they will honestly believe this.

That being said, I haven't really thought too much about potential playoff matchups yet. I just believe we're going to get a bye (home field ideally,) and we'll see how the seeding falls after that. We've already beaten 4 of the other major playoff contenders in the AFC, so it's just a matter of doing it again once playoff time rolls around.

Who cares about the Steelers we run Football right now. We are the only team in the league that seems to already be good, and getting better every week. The scariest thing about the Ravens is the fact that new guys are showing up all the time. Dennis pitta, Jimmy, Pernell, Cary Williams, Kruger, all the MLB's. The fact that we have not put together a strong showing on offense yet is the scariest of all. I see it coming its right around the corner. Joe is about to go off.<<<<<<<<<<<mark these words

Immortality is ours for the taking. TAKE IT!!!!!

I love the new RBates!

Looks like Joe's in line for a good week this week, Indy is the first pass D in a while that sucks!

1st...why are we even discussing the steelers? we don't play them next. we have the colts, chargers, bengals and browns. so why even mention the steelers? smh!

2nd...the steelers did NOTHING spectacular tonight whatsoever! the brownies played like hot garbage! they stunk up the joint when the game was theirs for the taking with the field posessions they had!

3rd...our Ravens are playing well and seem to be improving game by game on both sides of the ball. they are on a 3 game winning streak (without Ray Lewis playing) by beating the bengals, 49ers and the browns.

4th...so far (and hopefully on Sunday) the Ravens are UNDEFEATED at home. did you hear that? UNDEAFEATED at home! M&T Bank Stadium is a tough place for opposing teams (no matter who they are) to play during the playoffs.

5th..stop bringing up the steelers. just stop! LOL!

Took me a while to see it hawkprey, but i got it now. The only reason Joe looks average in our division, is because our division plays the best defense in the league. I suspected this a while ago, and now the numbers have confirmed my suspicion. Joe has been tested by the best, all that's left, is to beat the rest.

I agree, Joe is about to go off, and it will start this week lighting up the Colts D.

Beating them three times is priceless but beating them to get to indy and winning the SB is bittersweet being Indy our the old baltimore franchise so talk about rubbing it in thier faces.

However, if we don't beat the steelers that third time then that sweep meant absolutely nothing because Id rather lose to them twice during the season and beat them when it counts then vice versa.

If we make the pl******, excuse me festivus, and beat the Steelers, it won't count because it wasn't in Pittsburgh. If it is in Pittsburgh then it won't count because we weren't able to win the division.

I'm usually one hoping to dodge the squealers in the playoffs, but this year feels different. I'm confident we would pound them again if we end up playing a third time. And we need to redeem our dignity after handing them the win last year.

Better than winning the SB? Nah, but it would be sweet and quiet the "you can't beat us in the playoffs" BS.
