Cp3 To The Lakers

It turns out the mastermind behind this ridiculous show of power was Dan Gilbert, the same owner who threw a temper tantrum when Lebron left the cursed sports town of Cleveland.

This is stupid. The league now is forcing Chris Paul to play out the last year of his contract in New Orleans (which he will probably do with minimal effort) and then he is going to sign a long-term deal elsewhere. So in their pursuit to look out for the small market teams, the NBA is actually screwing the Hornets long term. Instead of being able to go through with this trade (which would get the Hornets 4 young starting-caliber players) the NBA instead saw it as the Lakers getting a little bit better and said nope! Makes absolutely no sense

I know right its not like CP3 is going to resign when his contract expires. the Hornets know that too so the league should of let them get something for him instead of nothing.

These are the same people who thought it would be best to get into a lengthy and ugly lockout after the NBA finally started to become popular again last season.

I know Chris Paul is going to LA next off-season, to spite the league if nothing else.

I might be stretching it, but who's to say the NBA won't intervene in free agency and prohibit CP3's movement to LA? After all, that's the reason they stopped the trade in the first place, to establish parity and prevent the juggernauts from forming. I feel like now that the NBA has intervened in this fashion, it will be expected for Stern to prevent any sort of movement of All-star players to big market teams, regardless or whether the player is under contract or a free agent. Which also brings up the question, at what point is a player considered "too good" and not able to be traded to another team? Will the NBA also prevent Howard from moving to the Nets? This one move has drastically altered the transaction landscape between teams

This trade looks insanely stupid and something you would see in a game, how do the Hornets give up 3 players including Chris Paul and only get Lamar Odem.

They were getting more than Odom. It was a three team trade, and Houston was giving New Orleans Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic, and a first round pick. Houston would have received Pau Gasol.

What?

The Hornets only gave up Paul, and got Odom (best 6th man in NBA), and Gasol (top 3 big man in NBA) and turned him in to even more talent. (Martin, Scola, and Dragic, 1st round pick)

Lets review. The best 6th man, a solid PG, a great scorer, and one of the best dirty work players in the NBA. And all this for a player who was walking out after this year anyways.

CP3 is also contemplating a lawsuit against the NBA... David Stern needs to resign or be fired. This veto was absurd, and had nothing to do with basketball. The Hornets had a great deal in place! If this doesn't go through they're going to lose him for nothing next year anyway... remind me how that's good for the Hornets?

Nba fan here, chris paul will go to the lakers just a matter of time
Yeah, I don't really have a problem with that. I'm pretty sure CP3 is going to be a Laker.

The problem is that LA can't focus on anything else until they know for a fact that the clueless commissioner wont reject the trade again. Obviously, with Gasol gone, they really need to address the power forward position, so it puts them in a really weird situation.

This is the most hilarious thing I've heard in a while, especially if the owners actually vetoed a trade.

Maybe the owners of the bad teams are mad nobody will trade for their players, and want an equal opportunity to bid for his services after the season?

Trade talks have reopened with Hornets possibly including Ariza and Okafor and receiving Patrick Patterson and other young talent from the Rockets. Hmm!

I personally think the Magic should just trade him to the Nets for Lopez and picks. Lopez is a way better player than Bynum IMO.

The Magic wont take Bynum for Howard. Its just not happening.

We honestly have a better shot at him through FA. Odom and Gasol would be off the books, and Artest could be amnestied. The trade pieces for D12 just aren't there.

So every Laker fan should hope Orlando doesn't trade Howard. Hopefully someone from LA's FO will let him know, since Howard has been given permission to talk to other teams.

I still don't understand why Howard would want to go to the Nets. They suck, he has a much better chance of getting a ring with Paul and Kobe.

The 3 Team Trade involving Chris Paul has been re-submitted to the league. According to sources the Rockets added more players at the request of the Hornets. So now we'll see if this gets approved or denied again.

I'm glad someone is with me on that subject.

Add in the fact that he will be in a big market (Brooklyn) playing for a team with a celebrity owner (Jay-Z) and it's almost a no-brainer. Plus the Nets have SO many more pieces to offer Orlando

Yeah, even if CP3 ends up in LA, I wont let my homerism blind me. D-Will is criminally underrated. I really have no idea why.

I didn't know the Bulls traded Derrick Rose.

My bad though, I forgot they added Williams. I still say he has a better shot with the Lakers or even the Knicks. There are easier ways for Howard to become bros with Jay-Z.

lulz

Seriously though, Rose is the best scorer out of all PG's, but he is not the best PG in the NBA.

ESPN reports that Lakers have pulled out of trade negotiations with Hornets for Chris Paul.

I think it's safe to say: Welcome to LA, Dwight Howard

acording to my sources,Lakers have pulled out of Chris Paul Trade talks,Lakers citing the commissioner's office wants more then all 3 teams want to give
I can't believe Stern really is that big of a moron. Getting Paul on the Lakers would be a move that would generate a lot of hype for a league trying to recover from the lockout, and all the teams involved were willing to give up even more than the already excellent deal that got rejected. This makes it easier for the Lakers to trade for Howard, but it is not a guarantee by any means. If they do land Howard though, there's not a doubt in my mind that Paul will sign with LA during free agency. He's probably going to do that anyways.

Yeah, just saw Chris Broussard report the Lakers pulled out of the Chris Paul talks - for now. These kinds of things always seem to happen at the last minute, when you least expect them to.
