That makes no sense...
[/quote]

I agree I was discussing that with a buddy of mine.

If the Ravens win, more incentive for Roethlisberger to play, to keep up with us for the division title.

If the Ravens lose, plenty incentive for Roethlisberger to play and take that division title outright.

Bottom line, the dude will play

This game tonight will be anything but a walk in the park for the Steelers. The Niners will be just as desperate and come out extremely hard playing for the number 2 seed. However, if the Steelers show up and play like they are capable of playing on both sides of the ball they will win this game in San Fran. They are simply a better overall team then the 49ers...

Big Ben is hurt (even though I expect him to play) and the 49ers are a damn good team coming off a terrible loss. Pittsburgh is traveling cross country. Even though this is a game they always win, it will not be easy. If San Fran wins we should still get either a bye, or at least one playoff game. After last night, this team doesnt deserve it, but lets go San Fran!!

While this indeed could happen this is still not the position that John Harbaugh wanted to put his Ravens in especially seeing that they had control of basically everything the division and the number 1 seed in the AFC and pretty much pissed it all away with that pathetic performance last night in San Diego. I knew all along the Ravens would slip and would not win out you could see it coming. The Ravens can blame losing that Jags game back in October more then anything as the reason they are in the position they are in now. Even the Titans and Seahawks losses are acceptable now seeing that they are both 7-7 but losing to the Jags who recently fired their coach and have an absolutely terrible offense was devistating for the Ravens and it's costing them now big time...

Now The Ravens might still win the division if the Steelers lose tonight but unless the Patriots lose to either the Bills or Dolphins at home the road to the Super Bowl directly will not go through Baltimore unless the Patriots lose. I dont even know if the Ravens would get the 1 seed over the Pats if they would finish tied because the common opponents tiebraker the Ravens had over the Pats is gone now since the Ravens lost to the Chargers and the Patriots beat them.

obviously its not ideal. We dont deserve a bye after last night (or the jags and titans games for that matter) just saying we have a shot. Our team is not good on the road. Maybe flacco gets a lucky road win round 1 in the playoffs, but no way we can beat brady. He would TORCH us

What does this mean?? I could show you hits on youtube that Ward put on Reed and Lewis throughout the last few years that were just as devistating as this. But let's get back to what really matters Tell me about how this is a different Ravens team from years past like you been spewing on here for weeks and how you guys were definitely going to win out and how the road to the Super Bowl will go through Baltimore?? What happened there dude??

Seriously this is the best you got showing me Johnson taking out Ward after your so called "different" Ravens team choked once again and got torched by the Chargers in a game they absolutely needed to win with everything on the line for them...

Wallace17_OutRunMe, I hate the Steelers. I do. But I'm not going to link you to retarded videos as retorts to legitimate statements. We had our asses beaten, fairly. The loss to the Jaguars' can't be blamed, nor the loss to the Titans or Seahawks. Our performance for last night is the only thing that can be blamed.

All these people are doing is withdrawing from discussing a horrible and humiliating loss with our "ALL-HATED DIVISION RIVAL." No.

Wake up and smell the coffee, folks.

While the loss to the Jags didnt mean anything last night I am a firm believer that you simply cant lose to a team as bad as the Jaguars if your a team like the Ravens and you know every single game and win is going to count because it will come back to bite you in the end. Had the Ravens won that game like they should have seeing the Jags have been virtually destroyed by everybody they have played they could have afforded to lose that game last night to the Chargers and still be in a position to get the division and the number 1 seed...

But it's useless talking about that. That was weeks ago. Last night, we were put in the position we were in, and we were given one goal: to win, and to come one-step closer towards our long-term goal, the number 1 seed. We did not succeed in either. That is not because we lost at Jacksonville. We could've won at Jacksonville, and lost tonight, and still be in plenty of trouble? Why? Not because of our record, but because of the fact that when a team is not beating itself, but is simply getting beat by others horribly on every side of the ball, you have a reason to worry.

A team beating itself is fixed by waking the hell up, opening your eyes, and getting out of some lethargic, idiotic state. A team getting beat by others on all cylinders, is not. Different problems. The latter, that caused the loss at San Diego, is a worse problem, because it can last A LOT longer than lethargy.

They are a different team. They swept the Steelers, and I do not say that in a mean spirited way. You have to admit, sweeping them is not something anyone expected. As far as all the other "spewing", hey fans have a right to be boaPlease be quiet.l and hopeful. They "should" have won out, based upon thier potential strengths. They just failed to execute. Three times.

This is why a lot of people on here should have waited until the Ravens at least won the game in San Diego or officially clinched the AFC North before they started flapping their gums the last few weeks after wins over terrible teams like the Browns and Colts that this is a different Ravens team then years past and that they wont have another bad performance again this season. The truth is the last 3-4 games the Ravens defense has actually faced an offense that can score points and move the ball in the Bengals,Steelers, and Chargers last night they have blown leads like they did in both the Steelers and Bengals games despite winning and last night they got torched by a good QB in Rivers. That is cause for concern for sure...

Doesnt mean anything if they dont win the AFC North because there were still 14 other games the Ravens needed to win enough of them to win the division and despite the sweep of the Steelers they are not in that position with 2 games left in the season...

Usually yes they are. A banged up Woodley and Pouncey, no Harrison and a Big Ben without the scramble. In that condition they may not be the better team.

You asked for evidence as to them being a different team, and I gave it to you. I was not stating the meaning or value of these events, just that they happened and are evidence of the Ravens being different from last year. A sweep of the Steelers could not have been done by last years team. The Ravens had to get better in order to do that. Thusly, they are a different team. Of course, last years Ravens would not have dropped three games to scrub teams either, so...

Sweeping the Steelers doesn't mean squat, if we lose to them in the playoffs. We had the perfect opportunity to do what we've never done and that's have home field through out the playoffs. We all know it's very hard task to come into M&T and get a win. I think it would have been even harder to do if we were hosting the playoffs (that includes the Steelers). If the Steelers get the #2 seed, we just allowed Ben to get a week off to rest that injured ankle.

We looked like a steaming pile of manure yesterday!!

Hopefully Jack Harbaugh's genius ability to break down game flim strategy he gave John for the Chargers game is somewhat similar to the one he will give Jim tonight for the Niners game...

Well, if Ben plays (looks like he will) then I'd say the Steelers have a 60% chance of winning. So I don't really expect the 49ers to win. But damn I really hope they do.

Guess Joe Flacco trying to look like Aaron Rodgers didnt work out too good for him...Maybe he should quit worrying about how he looks facial hair wise on the field like he did last year in the playoffs with his new haircut and long beard and this year with the FuManchu and start worrying about how he continues to be inconsistent week in and week and fail to get the Ravens over the hump...

From PFT: Ben's Status for tomorrow's game could hinge on the result of the Ravens-Chargers game. If the Ravens win tonight, the Steelers could end up resting Ben tomorrow night, but if the [Ravens] lose the Steelers may end up playing him.

I've been saying this all week. If the Ravens win, Ben might not play. If the division and a first round bye are at stake. He'll play. I fully expect him to play and win. Because thats what the Steelers do.

This is a tough situation for the Steelers also. Who knows if the Ravens winning last night and the Steelers sitting Ben and losing tonight isnt for the best for the Steelers, sounds dumb but keep reading.

With the Ravens losing last night it means Ben has to play to have a chance to win the division which the Steelers have to do. But this is obviously going to be a step back in terms of Ben's rehab for his ankle and having to play on it. The #5 seed is almost a lock for either the Steelers or the Ravens so if the Steelers take this risk by letting Ben play and it fails and we still end up the 5 seed. Not only did they not gain anything by winning the afcn, they also setback Ben's rehab by having him play tonight because the Ravens left the door open.

Ok, this thought is hard to explain through words. I'm just saying, by you guys losing last night, if the Steelers lose tonight also, this is worse than you guys winning yesterday and the Steelers somewhat conceding the division and letting Ben rest today and prepping for the playoffs.

Finally, a Steelers fan with some sense. Well put, and I agree with you... I don't think you guys need Home games to do what you want to do in the playoffs, but I think Tomlin and Co. don't want to take that chance.
